Yeah I got that same type of packaging too, which was a first for Timcent. He usually double boxes when I get figures from him. Part of me thinks that he had to pack this figure differently due to the different box dimensions than regular hot toys figures. But at least got to us safe and sound.

Definitely didn't mind. Lots of packaging to get through but better than it not being protected. Did take like 10 minutes to get through. :lol It got here crazy fast too! Less than a week. Takes the same amount of time from SS for me.

yeah man, it took less than a week to arrive to me as well and it takes a day to get from Sideshow to me since I live in Cali. It usually takes at least two weeks for figures from Timcent to get to me so this was a nice surprise.

Well here's my review. Be gentle, it's my first time

Good job.

Constructive criticism: Practice with your "zooms". Make them slower. Also do them manually, not with the camera. You will see the difference at 4:40. You manually zoom [pick the camera up and move it], vs the camera zoom, which has a totally different look.

The in/out, in/out with the camera zoom makes your viewer seasick. :p

Other than that good first effort. :hi5:

So here's what I've learned about SS/Hot Toys MO for US customers:

1) Figure is highly anticipated

2) Figure gets released abroad!! Pix at SSF! Everyone's excited. "Can't wait to get mine!"

3) Delay email

:tap

I don't like the figure. I know why they did it, but the lack of die-cast was a prerequisite for me. Consequently and as noted in the above review, it looks too plastic and the description of painted plastic is what I feared would be the case when it was in hand.

I think it's a crying shame they didn't do the ultimate Ultron. I really wanted the juiced up version. My hope, at the time, was that HT would do this in a standard plastic and then offer Ultimate in die-cast. Alas.

Really glad I passed on this one.

Huh, I am really not a fan of this figure. The body is done well, but I really don't care for the head and whatever expression they were going for. Not something I need to have in my collection, which is kind of sad because comic wise, Ultron is in my top 5 of favorites villains.

It's a really nice figure. But it's certainly not without its flaws. Here's my gripes:

-He definitely looks dead when not lit up. Totally lifeless and creepy and not in a good way. I really may need that Soap reactor ASAP.
-face and eyes are glaringly inaccurate. 'Nose' area is totally wrong. You don't need to fish for screen shots, just stare and compare the figure to the box art. The eyes are too tiny and the red is not nearly highlighted enough. This is part of why he looks so dead when turned off. This is huge IMO when it comes to robot figures because this is where a lot of their 'personality' comes from. The mouth also doesn't open very wide.
-Batteries are brutal to get in and the manual is wrong. You need AAA not AA as the manual tells you.
-The paint could stand to be a bit more metallic.

But the figure is still really impressively engineered and when lit up its got amazing shelf presence. I don't want my gripes to sound like I'm trashing the figure. Overall I'm pleased but I would recommend using a coupon or looking for a deal when he hits the US.

I just dont want to go through the extra effort of getting the soap reactor and setting it up because it only looks good lit up. Even lit up, I still have a big problem with his face. It's an easy pass for me but I"m glad other people seem to be enjoying him.

Yeah I'm glad most appear to be enjoying the figure, there was just too much for me not to like - the face being one of the main issues, and the odd mouth expression due to how little it opens (which funnily enough was raised in the video posted above).

I can totally believe that this looks /bad/ when not lit up.

I wish this was an easy pass! Logically, I know it's too big for my display and would probably rarely get lit up, but then I see all these pictures of it lit up and looking amazing and my resolve weakens.

The figure should be able to stand alone and look good, not just when it's lit up. I don't know why I'm making a big stink over it, just disappointing I guess.

No, it makes sense because most of the time, it WILL be off, so you'd want it to be like the Iron Man armors and still look good when off.

It just looks REALLY GOOD when it's on (to me, anyway.)

I kinda agree with the lights off it looks pretty average. The lights on takes it to another level but no way I'd keep lights on all time. Decisions, decisions

I also wish it had been diecast, or at least featured a few diecast parts. Still, the 1/4 43 is made of plastic and doesn't suffer from a cheap feel at all. I hope Ultron is more like that and less like other plastic figures.

It just seems a damn shame doesn't it?
- When it was in hand and ClipperKing was showing the articulation, that plastic sound was really off putting.

It's why I don't like my Mark 7 as much as my 42. Lovely suit, no doubt about it, BUT that plastic look and fell just doesn't do it justice and detracts.

I wouldn't buy another non die-cast IM.
