When I got IM Mark 43 diecast...I really like the feel of the figure and had a good weight to it. Yeah....I wish Ultron was diecast but then again...price would've been much higher. Can't win. :lol

It just seems a damn shame doesn't it?
- When it was in hand and ClipperKing was showing the articulation, that plastic sound was really off putting.

It's why I don't like my Mark 7 as much as my 42. Lovely suit, no doubt about it, BUT that plastic look and fell just doesn't do it justice and detracts.

I wouldn't buy another non die-cast IM.

I actually really like the ratchet joints. It's like what they put in the 1/4 scale figures. It makes the legs feel more stable and less likely to get flimsy over time. The arm joints where they connect to the body are insanely tight so you do have to be careful when first trying to rotate them.

I question the price point.

Obviously not looking to get into a deep conversation concerning the pricing system for HT, however I do question it. I mean surely they could have keep the same price, or very close to it and thrown some die-cast at the piece.

Good job.

Constructive criticism: Practice with your "zooms". Make them slower. Also do them manually, not with the camera. You will see the difference at 4:40. You manually zoom [pick the camera up and move it], vs the camera zoom, which has a totally different look.

The in/out, in/out with the camera zoom makes your viewer seasick. :p

Other than that good first effort. :hi5:

Thanks to you and Motux for your kind words. I'll definitely take those tips into consideration.

Well said! :exactly:

To each his own. :)

The detail on my Mark 42 is excellent. I don't own any other die-cast pieces.
- I have always disliked how HT refuses to detail the amount of die-cast they use in each piece though.

If you put a few diecast parts in Ultron he'd look and work the same as he did before. He'd just be nicer to handle and less creaky. It's down to you whether or not you think that would be worth the additional cost.

The creaking or noise most people are complaing about would not be different with a diecast figure. The joints would be exactly the same either way. And all of hot toys diecast figures are still predominantly plastic. So most of what people like about their diecast figures is exactly the same either way. The sole difference is weight. That's it.

As for the not looking as good when the lights are off..that's true. But that's mostly due to the character design and the fact it always was lit up on screen. They could have just painted in most of the red but that looks no where near as good and would never look realistic. Look at the proto pics. They painted in a lot of the stuff that was later illuminated and it just doesn't look near as good. No matter which way they go people are going to complain.

I'm not talking solely about the joints. Diecast figures creak too, yes. But all-plastic figures creak more because there is more plastic hitting plastic and more thin plastic parts with a little give. The chink of metal is a nicer sound than the creak of plastic, in my opinion.

I've never heard a metal sound from a diecast figure. The chink. There are so few metal parts on diecast. Most of the hot toys have like 30% metal. Ones like mk3 have less. So 70-80/% of the diecast figures are plastic. It's like calling your car tire metal. It's has steel belts in them that account for 20% or more of the tire.(the rubber tire not the rim).

My Ultron has a strange fur covering...is this a factory defect?

Have a play with your Mark 42, move the torso. The diecast ab parts make a chinking sound. I know which bits are metal and which aren't, and how much metal there is in these figures. I never gave any indication that I was confused about that, which leads me to wonder why you're telling me this.
