Re: Hot Toys Ultron Prime 1:6 scale figure - official pictures

I know this is kind of a weird thing to say but I think it looks like plastic when I see the figure..., obviously it's made from plastic so no real surprise there but when I look at my Iron Man figures & even my Tony Stark, plastic isn't a thought that comes to mind. lol I'm really just an Iron Man collector (as I've said before) so I'd have to be blown away in order to get sidetracked with other figures/characters, this currently isn't having an effect on me & I don't feel like I must have it..., it may improve before production though or it may even just grow on me after I've seen the movie, don't know..., for now I'm looking forward to the Hulkbuster & 1:4 scale mark 43 plus hopeful there's a mark 45 & I'd like to see one of Tony Stark's Iron Man drones made too. :)

Yea using plastic seems to work for most other colors, but when it's a silver finish it tends to show what it's really made out of. Same thing with the endoskeleton terminator figure.

This one isn't diecast, otherwise it would've been noted in the images. As for future releases of a die cast version? Possible...but I'd say unlikely. They did say they were considering revisiting all Iron Man's earlier suits and releasing them as Die Cast; however, that's Iron Man and not Ultron. If I had to wager, I'd bet against HT releasing a diecast version of this Ultron (or others before plastic releases.)

Then it just comes down to the gamble of whether or not you want to wait and see if these will still be around a while once the movie releases while hoping for a potential diecast announcement.

:exactly::lecture I somehow doubt that HT will randomly revisit this given that Ultron isn't really Iron Man. Admittedly, even if they do release a diecast version I'd still get this one AND the diecast.

I'm willing to give HT a bit of a pass with these fresh photos especially considering how the Endo's always looked more humanoid and robust in design. Ultron's overall frame looks borderline Art Nouveau-inspired and I can imagine that it definitely makes for a harder sculpt to translate perfectly as seen onscreen. And of course, this is still the prototype so I'm expecting that HT will still fine-tune the sculpt before putting out the final product.

More pictures will come, but until then the speculation will run rampant with this image :lol I love the sculpt, and think it's really well done and finely detailed -- and this is just the proto. He's a presence for sure, and I'm sure future pics will help sell him better! That said, in the picture above he definitely looks like a turned off robot/empty shell when the lights are off.

I hope I didn't start something on here :) I do believe that the final product would look sharper, sleeker, and maybe even more convincingly metallic (hence my not saying anything about how he looks this early in terms of sculpt and paint/finish).

I'm waiting for this version

I actually kinda do want that version too but has there been any rumors on if the teaser image will be his final form?

Yeah. Ironman works even without the lights because of the color scheme. UP looks plastic without the lights. I think this is one the figures that requirs a plug in & remote control to light up. Of course, that would mean it would really be expensive.

At least HT is making it easy on me with these new Avengers figures so far. No EX = No Rush. I'll probably end up getting quite a few of the figures but I'll wait for coupons.

Im going to assume Brainiacs head has exploded? I think for me this one is a pass, just something which doesn't excite me about it (may change though), still great to see a new figure!

No, not at all! It's actually really great to have those pictures to look at! They give a view of how the figure will actually look outside of fixed lighting and such. And it's good to have an idea of how it'll look with the lights off as well, since that's how it'll be most of the time.

Honestly, the full scale image posted looks fantastic! Nobody can deny that the sculpt is great...the two main issues most will have will be how much they'll charge for it (size comparisons beside Avenger figures would be nice to see,) and how it does look like a shut-down Ultron when the lights are off.

Iron Man -- "He's got no strings, but I switched off his batteries. Threat neutralized!" :lol

Looks pretty good. Don't know if I will spring for him though. So much on my plate and I really want to get the AoU Cap and Thor too. Price with this will once again be my deciding factor.

Ultron not being diecast should mean his price is lower than the MK. 43. I want this one, and that means I only have 3 more figs I am waiting on Black Widow, Hawkeye and possibly Vision.

I guess it just depends on the finish, I know the mark II Iron Man figure I have looks ok in silver & doesn't look plastic. Hopefully they'll do something to improve the prototypes look but currently it's not something I'd want in my collection.

That surprises me Kevb.... this is essentially evil Iron Man :lol
Well not really but in the movie he is made(partially) by Tony Stark
