Got mine today. This would have been a killer figure if they molded the hair. Out of the box it looks like she has a rats nest on her head. Very disappointing. It's going to take some work to get looking decent, and it will probably frizz up over time creating a maintenance issue. On the HT scale I'd give it a 2.3 out of 5.

Ah, I'm not sure if I would particularly score her that low. I'd give her a generous solid 4/5; half point off for the tousled hair and I felt HT could have made the blue piping on her suit out of a glow in the dark material so it slightly illuminates in darkness, like in the film. Half point off for that also. Otherwise, I think she's a great, solid and fun figure.

Regarding the hair, I just simply wet it and applied a bit of hair product mixed with water using my finger. It made a significant improvement and has been holding up fine thus far.

Water based doll wax works wonders for me on rooted figure hair for years:lecture

bransen, Did her hair come like that, looking slightly messy at the bottom? I know the prototype pics and A1 Widow had hair that looked more refined and finessed so I was curious if that was your own styling or if it came like that?

guyver, Any link to the specific product that you use? And also, is that the stock WS head or did you do something to modify it? The hair looks good, movie accurate.

I'm a tough grader when a figure comes with what I would consider a MAJOR flaw. I'm a tough grader, period I guess too.

Best figure of the year is still Whiplash 2. Now that's a solid 4.9 out of 5. Honorable mention to Groot, Starboost, and the Diecast MK43.

Honestly, Black Widow may be the worst HT that I've bought this year, but I also own all the Black Widow figures to-date. The other lesser HTs would be Gamora, Rocket, and Arkham Batman.

Yo dw,

To be honest all I did was wet my finger and pushed the hair down. It probably affected the look of it at the bottom.

This pic is basically it out of the box, the only pic I have.

I still don't like the hair in your shots Bransen. Not your fault, HT should have sculpted it. No excuse not to mold it with short hair.

It still looks like a rats nest to me.

The hair looks good in the prototype shots like this. Not nearly as good in hand.

Non taken, I do like the rooted hair tho, for me it just adds the freedom to posing, able to shape the hair :lol

And my gf said her hair was as messy as the HT one so I'm not that bothered by it.
Gotcha. Love the mini 1/6 Lei btw :wink1:

Isn't it a nice touch? :lol got it from a Blue Hawaii Elvis doll :rotfl

I know some folks prefer rooted hair. It just seems hard to get "right". I wish HT would do what Sideshow did with their Batgirl figure and include one of each type of head. Charge us $25 more or whatever, but give us options. We have 4 rooted hair Black Widow figures at this point.

I will agree with you that it's a lot of work and I can see someone being real OCD about it.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't mind the rooted frizzy hair, I try to make it work no matter what. IMO the problem that HT keeps making is the lip color it's too bland and ugly dark. Scar is all about her lips standing out. that's what gives her face expression and character. The right shade makes the likeness pop for me. In every version:wave

The texture of the hair is bad, very bad.

They should not experiment with rooted hair again, even with the past failed attempts they still don't learn :slap. They are not a doll company to begin with.

The texture? She had short frizzy hair in the movie during the battle scenes...

Rooted hair would look great for her casual attires that she wore in the movie when her hair was "controlled" but not for her action scenes wearing battle gear.

I actually don't mind the blue IMO
