Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I keep telling myself I'll pick up a Hoth version to possibly replace this as that outfit is my favorite, but Leia the character rules in ANH.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I have a little 1/6th razor blade and will use baby powder to make the necessary cocaine mound for my Leia.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

That's good to hear. I was thinking surely if you have room on your shelf for two Hoth Lukes, two X-Wing Lukes, a Stormtrooper Luke, and a farmboy Luke, you must have space somewhere for the first high-end Leia figure with inarguably the best SW human likeness to date. :lecture

For my part, I have 5 variations of the Stormtroopers so I have no excuse but to happily make room for this princess.

And the two DX07s!

I have plenty of room now, so space isn't an issue.

I just couldn't bring myself to go through with the order at this price (and with inflated shipping) for a figure that is essentially so visually underwhelming apart from the head sculpt. Especially after the disappointment of Farmboy Luke - an underwhelming figure even though he has a more interesting costume and more accessories.

She's basically wearing a white sheet which doesn't hang like the real dress. So Hallowe'en "I'm going as a ghost" Leia would find a place at the back of the display.

Cancelling her now loses the cardboard display, but from what I've seen that appears to be no loss.

Kuat are you saying?

You will change your mind. On both Luke and Leia. I feel it.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Yeah, I've considered canceling the EX to save $10 ordering elsewhere or to re-order and flex her but I'll probably just go through with the order.

I've been looking forward to Fett a bit more lately as he'll liven up the display a bit with his rainbow ROTJ color palette plus he's already paid for through popcultcha but no shipping news on him for now.

I'm saying I'll get Leia when she's eligible for the $50 international code.

I already have Farmboy Luke, and I don't find him very impressive. I think it's one of the least convincing of HT's Star Wars sculpts. Somehow though, it works a bit better with the Stormtrooper outfit. Maybe it's the darker skin and sweat on Trooper Luke that makes the face look wider and less like Tom Cruise?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Granted the materials used are very cheap and disappointing for the price point, I really like the HT Luke and enjoy the compliment of accessories he comes with. Almost wish I had two, but then that's silly.

My least favorite so far is Old Ben easy. Then probably Han.

I put Farmboy away and just have the Stormie Luke on the shelf. Can't figure out what it was exactly but he just bothered me on the shelf at times, a combination of the outfit and head/hair sculpt. I think the hair is slightly less egg headed on the stormie version but really I just find the stormtroopers so impressive looking that there's nothing to be annoyed about outfit wise.

Conversely, I put together a custom Han Stormtrooper and that one didn't do much for me, much prefer the smuggler look on display.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I strangely wish I got that Luke Trooper now for some reason. The sculpt does seem to suit that figure better.

I'm fairly convinced HT will offer a two-pack of Luke/Han Troopers at SDCC or at some point. As much as I try to keep from too many multiple versions of the same character, OT Star Wars is just so hard to steer clear of.

But I'm still very happy with my Luke posed in trooper belt... with the fantastic working grappling hook thanks to my friend, TonTon. :)

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

With the exception of the stormtrooper, the whole line has been a disappointment for me. The only saving grace is that the collective weight of the ensemble cast display reinforces the identity of the individual characters where their likenesses tend to fail.

It was JazzInc's pics that had me wishing I'd picked up Luke Trooper. If there's a two-pack I think I'll bite.

Glad it was put to good use. :duff

I'm still too fearful to reel mine out. :lol

Chewbacca and the various Stormtroopers are the jewels in HT's Star Wars crown.

Vader is impressive, if flawed. (The interrogator droid is great!)

Obi-Wan is a great sculpt, but not quite Alec. And his inner robe is too flimsy.

I've never really looked too closely at Han. He went to the back of a shelf, dictated by Chewie's height. Sideshow's Hoth Hans are more visually impressive due to their outfits; just as the Hoth Lukes (in damaged and undamaged sculpts) and X-Wing Luke are more visually impressive than HT'S Farmboy.

I just hope they announce the Han Bespin soon so I'm not tempted to buy the HT Han again. I was severely underwhelmed with it but with RO coming, I'm worried there will be no new HT Han in-hand for another two years. And... I have TWO Chewies.:lol

And yeah, the problem with HT doing only a middling job on likeness is the "blandness" of so many of the ANH hero outfits. The Hoth outfits and outfits like X-Wing really pop nicely on the shelf. I love the Leia sculpt so much but I'm worried that's more snore for the shelf.

I know what people are saying about the farmboy Luke. I do sort of like it, it's definitely young Hamill, but the copper helmet hair is an issue, and yeah it's got the Cruise thing, but he's just slightly boring on the shelf. I'm still going to do the stromie rifle pose with belt and hopefully that will give him some zing. I tried the "marveling at Dad's lit saber" pose and it just isn't very marvelous.

With the exception of the stormtrooper, the whole line has been a disappointment for me. The only saving grace is that the collective weight of the ensemble cast display reinforces the identity of the individual characters where their likenesses tend to fail.

I love the quality of the stormie overall but the helmet sculpt still bugs me. Currently, I have a Han head on one HT stormie with helmet in-hand, and the other HT stromie has the Marmit sandie mask on because it just feels more ANH rather than the Don Post thing I always see in the HT helmet.

FYI, Cocaine's been legal in Alderaan since 27 B.B.Y.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

ANH Leia, Farmboy Luke, and eventually Bespin Lando, all suffer from the same disease: Boring outfits. It's not Hot Toys fault, they did them the best they could but couldn't give them more glamour because of that. What do you prefer: a Sideshow X-Wing luke with flashy outfit but poor headsculpt, or HT Leia with amazing sculpt but bland outfit?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I would have been fine with the Leia's boring outfit if it had actually draped correctly and looked how it did in the movie. But currently it's a deadly combination of boring and inaccurate.

Sideshow's X-Wing Luke with a fine looking helmeted headsculpt stomps all over what amounts to an amazing head sculpt in a mess of a dress.

I suppose you get what you pay for - the SS was a more expensive figure. :D
