Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I'll contribute a stand. No idea what it's gonna be and don't care. If it doesn't go towards the Death Star, it's going on ebay to recoup some $$$.

599,999 to go. You're welcome.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Has that been confirmed that all of them put together will assemble the Death Star? Who is the source?

I can't tell you his name, but I'll give you a hint... He currently resides on Tatooine and has a bit of a spice problem - he's got somewhat of a long snout too.

I think they are including the extra cool bigger stand as an accessory...

It's listed as "One (1) specially designed backdrop as a bonus accessory". Has there been a picture of this?

That helps. Thanks. So look for Harrison Ford. Gotcha.

Won't be long now when they'll be taking deposits for pre-orders based solely on concept art instead of prototypes that don't accurately resemble the final product anyway.

Ah, back like video games in the 80's. Sweet.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I don't remember ever pre-ordering anything back in the 80's. It wasn't a thing yet. We did have the Sears/Wards/Pennies Christmas Catalogs but that was about it.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Back then it wasn't so much pre-ordering as "mail away" offers. Send in your proof of purchases and get a Kenner/Hasbro figure, for example.

Remember the box art? Amazing lush green forest, Indiana Jones-looking guy doing something dangerous, and spectacularly illustrated animal practically jumping off the box. Load the game up and you have a black square, some green squares and a red rectangle with a few numbers for your score. Brilliant.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Yep. I started out with a pong console, so there's exhibit A. :lol

The Commodore 64 brings back very fond memories for me, as I'm sure for others out there. It's a perfect example of that; great box art, & sometimes a very disappointing game. Still, they also released some great ones too.

That said, I've really re-embraced retro gaming in the last couple of years. I'm in the process of building a custom PC, so I can eventually get the full emulator thing happening as well as play my 'MAME' roms on it. My current desktop is a dinosaur waiting to die.

Made every **** game look incredible and caused young impressionable minds like me to pressure parents into buying it.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Let's be honest here. Back then the only way they could sell those games was with lush box art to inspire our imaginations. If they had used honest screenshots of the actual product, nobody would have bought them!

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

absolutely agree with you. As a kid, I just remember the disappointment with some games after getting them home after buying because of the cover art. :lol

Ironically enough, a hugely popular game today is "Minecraft" and the graphics are a simple pixelated mess.

Reminds me of the original ID software "Castle Wolfenstein". (which was great for it's day, being one of, if not the first "first person" shooter.

Is that why I got a huge ass turbolaser with my stormtrooper? So the rest of you just need bring your Death Star parts to my house and we'll test our new battle station on the moon.

Looks like there's a surprise in every box! I got Tarkins chair!
