I dunno. I think I actually prefer the production app on this one.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Not seeing much of a drop off on this one. Especially comparing the new shots to the actual promo images where the lighting comes closer to the blogger pics than that SDCC lighting. I would say maybe the hair was a tiny bitter lighter in proto but that might have just been lighting as well. Can't wait.

Dress seems to be a bit of a let down but after dealing with Luke's tunic it's not shocking they didn't nail this. Think they could do a great job with Hoth Leia given the nature of that outfit and what we got out of this sculpt.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I'd say the likeness is obvious, but like all sculpts is has sweet spots (angles), and low spots, and ALL of it is dependent on lighting and presentation. And then there's the fact that if I said "picture Mark Hamill from ANH" to 100 people, they'd think of 100 looks.

One thing I've noted is that Mark rarely had his mouth closed for more than a second or two of screen time a t once even during his contemplative scenes, so the fact that HT chose to go with the fully closed mouth probably doesn't help too much.

But I'd say the number one issue with most if not all of the human HT SW line is that there was just about NEVER a time in the movie in which any of the characters had basically NO expression at all. So to depict them as neutral as they have probably doesn't weaken the actual feature for feature likeness of the sculpt as much as it doesn't match our memory of the characters as they moved through the film...

I don't mind a neutral face IF the face is correct. You're side by side pic is a perfect example. Both the actual photo of Mark and the photo of the figure are both neutral. The figure looks almost nothing like him. The eyes, bottom lip and jawline are so far off it's ridiculous. This is what we pay top dollar for *sigh*

Opened this earlier, absolutely amazing. The dress is moderately futzable. No issues with it, probably the best SW 1:6 I've seen.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I'm just doing a repose now and the pinching is actually stitched in place under the belt. I can't un futz it!!

The belt appears to be glued shut. Sorry I don't know what body it is.

Mm, I don't like the sound of either of those, though I did suspect the dress was actually stitched that way around the waist. I did not suspect the damn belt would be glued. :lol It's still a killer figure but it's really frustrating about the dress considering the prototype had it right.

Great pictures, Para. As usual!!

This is why Harrison Ford is so hard to capture. Nobody has a favorite Han Solo moment of him sitting perfectly still and expressionless. He looks intense, or smarmy, or confused, or wise-***, or a thousand other HF signature expressions.

HT should do more alt heads that can be swapped out - a neutral and an expression. It would have helped justify the cost of Leia if there was a second headsculpt.

Great, at least there's some hope.

They've stitched the "bunching" under the belt so you may have to build on what has been predetermined. Unless you can un-stitch those folds.

Hoping the dress will stretch down a bit too with water treatment.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Y'know, Triad's Ghost figure had a scarf that was the perfect material for Leia's dress, it was very slinky, a bit stretchy. Of course, it was not even close to enough material to turn into a dress, but I'd taken that item to JoAnn's and other fabric stores around town and never could find the match. I know the material exists, I'd probably have to go to China to get it though.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Changed Leia's pose as I wasn't keen on the hand on hip with raised blaster pose, so have now settled on this and I'm really happy with it, looks a bit more natural to my eye :) Futzed her dress some more and pleased with how that looks now too :)

So purdy. Thanks for the photos, para! Great to see a head sculpt hit out of the park like this.

@Para - Wow. Anyone who can't find something decent to say about this really needs to think twice about whether figure collecting is the right hobby for them.

Nope....Harrison's head exists in a parallel universe....that why no one can sculpt it. Its not a measure of expression....they are all just terrible sculpts.

A good sculpt can capture a bad expression, but that's not whats going on with Harrison. We just have never seen a good sculpt.....

Leia's face is damn near perfect. I want one, but it will have to wait...Rey is next....

Wonder what the market will be for a great dress...with better fabric...

Man, this figure does look pretty great but I would much rather have a Hoth or Endor Leia.
