Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure
I dunno. I think I actually prefer the production app on this one.

I'm wondering. Does anyone notice how different it was in painting between prototype and heads that they sell

I'd say the likeness is obvious, but like all sculpts is has sweet spots (angles), and low spots, and ALL of it is dependent on lighting and presentation. And then there's the fact that if I said "picture Mark Hamill from ANH" to 100 people, they'd think of 100 looks.
One thing I've noted is that Mark rarely had his mouth closed for more than a second or two of screen time a t once even during his contemplative scenes, so the fact that HT chose to go with the fully closed mouth probably doesn't help too much.
But I'd say the number one issue with most if not all of the human HT SW line is that there was just about NEVER a time in the movie in which any of the characters had basically NO expression at all. So to depict them as neutral as they have probably doesn't weaken the actual feature for feature likeness of the sculpt as much as it doesn't match our memory of the characters as they moved through the film...
I don't mind a neutral face IF the face is correct. You're side by side pic is a perfect example. Both the actual photo of Mark and the photo of the figure are both neutral. The figure looks almost nothing like him. The eyes, bottom lip and jawline are so far off it's ridiculous. This is what we pay top dollar for *sigh*

We need pics for proofOpened this earlier, absolutely amazing. The dress is moderately futzable. No issues with it, probably the best SW 1:6 I've seen.

I'm just doing a repose now and the pinching is actually stitched in place under the belt. I can't un futz it!!
The belt appears to be glued shut. Sorry I don't know what body it is.

This is why Harrison Ford is so hard to capture. Nobody has a favorite Han Solo moment of him sitting perfectly still and expressionless. He looks intense, or smarmy, or confused, or wise-***, or a thousand other HF signature expressions.
HT should do more alt heads that can be swapped out - a neutral and an expression. It would have helped justify the cost of Leia if there was a second headsculpt.
So purdy. Thanks for the photos, para! Great to see a head sculpt hit out of the park like this.
