That’s an ace build you got there. Damn.Since this is pretty much the same build as the DX15, here was what I had to do to convert to CotBP look. It took several different Jack's to make this happen.
It's why I didn't bother with this Artisan. But if HT wants to get smart and offer CotBP (or even a new updated DMC/AWE) I'll order day one.
Until then I'm content with my build.View attachment 747732View attachment 747733View attachment 747734
Thanks, yeah there's some work involved. Honestly I did this back when I thought there would never be another HT Sparrow with the Depp/Disney fallout. Now they they seem to be still on board with Sparrow merch I would have waited hopeful for them to do Curse / DMC / AWE.That’s an ace build you got there. Damn.
Way too much of an overhaul to convert it lol
You’re absolutely right. Maybe I am just trying to will it into existenceI know for most this might night seem a big enough difference from DX15, but the tailoring alone is quite an improvement imo. The baldric (chest belt) on this is way more accurate and the real leather waist belts are also much preferred. Even the crocodile/alligator belt is more accurate than the DX15. Also, something I find interesting on this one versus DX06 and DX15 is that they screen printed the buttons on the vest this time instead of real, hand sewn buttons.
EDIT: just so I don’t have to write it all over again. Here are some posts I made for what’s different/upgraded from the previous versions.

I really like this pic. Bandana looks fine here.

1/3 statue in full captain’s gear if their silhouette is anything to go by
Are you sure it’s COTBP? The signage didn’t say so. Only says “Pirates of the Caribbean” but no subtitle to specifically say which version they’re doing unless I missed the info from somewhere. If you heard it was COTBP, was it a reliable source if not direct from JND?
Depends on how accurate you want it. You can make it resemble just by stripping it down but it won’t give you the look.
Just about nothing was saved from COTBP b/c they didn’t intend on having an sequel.
His belts, buckles, hat, vest, and pants are all the most different. Sash is meant to hang much longer as well but it was made from the same fabric that they luckily found again when beginning production on DMC and AWE.
He also doesn’t have the tattoos on his knuckles in the earlier films nor the X scar on his cheek.
DMTNT is also the only film where he has the extra fabric wrap around his right hand
No rings on his left hand in COTBP. He had a black spot on his left hand between his thumb and pointer finger.
The “piece of eight” is different after AWE. Even the bandana pattern is different from COTBP compared to the other films.
His hair is also different. More straight hair and less dreads in COTBP. Less trinkets. And also his hair was almost black versus the brown it became in later films.
You’d honestly have a bit better luck trying to transform this into anything but COTBP.
EDIT: Here’s a bit more in depth post I made previously about the differences.

This is amazing. Make sure to post the end result! Would love to see it!Wanted a Barbossa for years ended up upgrading mine, waiting on the artist to finish rooting.
I don't think we'll ever see hot toys do him though which is sad given we've had 3 DX sparrows.

Yea the hat is just really oversized and the shape is sloppy. Almost like a bad Halloween costume hat. What is it that’s wrong with the hat, the small cross stitching and the size?
Also, noticed in your previous post you mentioned Mad Leather Studio - do they tend to only release items around the drops? Would love a better hat too if they’re offering.
Would you say the DX06 stock hat is a decent upgrade option?Yea the hat is just really oversized and the shape is sloppy. Almost like a bad Halloween costume hat.
You can contact Mad Leather studio on IG and inquire about it. As far as I know they don’t do runs/drops of items. They are made to order as far as I’m aware.
Yea definitely better than the DX15 or artisan ones. Still not accurate but it’s got a sharper shape and doesn’t look as wonky.Would you say the DX06 stock hat is a decent upgrade option?
The thread for that figure is still on the first page just a few below this one. You can find and read ppls thoughts on it in thereDid anyone get the SWToys Barbossa? Thinking of getting him to go along with Jack but I've heard vaguely mixed things about it and SWToys as a whole.
Guessing this is just a “short” of the previous review posted but lots of close ups. I didn’t notice this before, bur the belt trinkets appear to be more accurately painted than the DX15 and I love the weathering they did this time do the Black Pearl in a bottle. The previous versions were pretty much see through
I'm guessing that's Todo with Disney licensing agreement which seems weird? Luckily I kept my DX15 rum bottle when I sold mine. That Pearl accessory is impressive to say the least.
Shame they didn't include a rum bottle.
Another review. It’s not great and has some fish eye distortion going a bit sometimes.
