I recently rewatched the first two Pirates movies in anticipation of receiving this figure. I hadn’t seen them in a while but it took me back to being a kid, watching them in theaters, and them being a really fun watch. It’s made me think of how Jack is an iconic character from the 2000s similar to how Indiana Jones was in the 80s and they both have outfits that are similar yet different in their respective 5 movies. With Jack though I feel this figure could represent the entire series where as you know the new Indy figure is from the 5th film.

I feel like with Jack even if they did make a version from the earlier movies, I would be happy with this one unless it was a considerable difference. Overall though I’m really happy with this release with how the rooted hair was done, the overall outfit, and diorama base.

I believe that's a new law about batteries. I'm worried it's not a sticker. I remember when the LEGO Barad-dur was released a few months ago, it had that same warning on it, it was printed on the box.

Goodness I certainly hope it’s not printed on there. Seems like it would be easier to make it a sticker instead of creating a whole new box just to have that warning printed on it in the same way the exclusive marking is just a sticker difference between Sideshow and HK exclusives. The HK ones don’t have that printer on their box so here’s hoping!

Wasn't that label printed on the other HT boxes also? I don't think they were sticker labels.

It’s a sticker. I’ve received several HT figures recently that came with that on the front of the art box but it doesn’t simply peel off as the adhesive is too strong (the label usually tears and leaves the bottom half attached). Fortunately there’s usually a sheen on the art box that allows one to use Goo-Gone to remove what’s left behind without saturating/damaging the box. It’s annoying but doable if you have the patience.

Thanks for the confirmation. Using a hairdryer or heat gun is usually how I get shipping labels off so I'll do that here too.

I honestly feel like the UU Hat is the weakest, but I still like it. It has the proper "curl" of the back of the hat for OST/DMTNT. It's sort of always been difficult to find these original hats parted out and will probably be even more so now. I only have the UU hat b/c I bought the figure and kept what I wanted. I actually bought it twice and could've/should've kept duplicate parts, but I was pretty satisfied at the time with my custom that I just sold the extra.

I prefer the AWE hat overall if I had to pick just one.


Thanks! I tried to do a blend of COTBP and OST on the UU hat which is why it's a little different shade of browns compared to the others.

Yea, definitely not a new base body from what I can tell either. I'll be stripping it down and redressing it though once I get it and will know for sure.

I noticed this as well. Very thin which probably helps with the layers, but will have to be careful with it.

Never happen, but a pack of alternate heads would be an instant buy for me. I don't know how likeness rights and approvals would factor and prevent it, but if the could do it for Ledger Joker and Jack Sparrow, the money would be rolling in.

why is everyone securing DX06 hats? I thought AWE was the best option? Is that the same hat?

DX06 and DX15 are the only hats readily accessible on places like eBay. MMS42 is hardly sold at all, let alone parted out, and same with the old Medicom RAH figure.

@Kit Chen any chance a 3rd party can make a hat for this figure?

I don't know if that's an idea you can toss around with somebody. But we're seeing more cases of 3rd parties supporting existing figures with complementary accessories, capes, sculpts, wigs (recent Bruce Wayne) etc..

We just need a good hat that's compatible with the DX and Artisan.

Yea I’d definitely buy at least 2 if they’re good. Most likely more in the event HT (or some other company) makes a Jack Sparrow but also screws up on the hat

Don't own the DX15, but i kind of like the serious face on that one more. Do own a DX06 which apart from the hat, the printed pattern on the sculpted bandana looks better too.

So from Justin's review, the DX15 and DX37 faceplates seem to be interchangeable. Was the DX06 and DX15 interchangeable as well? Want to use both DX37 sculpts, one of them on the DX06.

Anyone knowledgeable if that is possible?

I get that most people prefer the cloth bandana... I truly believe the sculpted one looks better. It has the right shape, the creasing makes it look less like a dome, even the shine ain't that bad in the right lighting as shown here. Of course, I'm incentivized to believe that, but still.

Yes, all the previous heads are interchangeable with their respective hair pieces. The only problem will be the skin tone not matching with the neck/chest

DX06 faces are smaller, but they do fit with the newer hair pieces, and the DX15 faces will work with the DX06 hair, though the hair looks a bit smaller with the larger face. I have DX15 hair on the DX06 smirk face currently.

Also, this perfectly illustrates how large the hat is on the DX37/38. I’m glad I opted for the DX06 hat.

Sculpted dreadlocks look better than the wool cattails.

Like webhead mentioned, the bandana also has the realistic creasing and isn’t even shiny as most are making it out to be.

Even if its noticeable the color difference won't stick out like a sore thumb. A small trade-off to use the better head sculpt. Thank you both @MaulFan and @Gipetto0812
