To jyn or not to jyn that is the question

Hot toys did a great job on the costume and accessories but the damn head sculpt is making me second guess the purchase. Obviously this and disguise version will be the only jyn's we get, so it's either I buy this one or have no jyn at all. I really wish they kept the prototype head instead of this wierd Rey/jyn looking hybrid head we got

Prototype:

Production:

The two overlayed:

Lighting and paint make a big difference in how something appears, but this is the same physical sculpt.

They're not close enough to say it's the same. Definitely changed the hair and either the sculpt was changed as a result of production or they went with a different variant. The right is Celebration in April and the left is from SDCC looks like early production version.

The shape of the eyes seem pretty clearly different as well.

That's pretty good Mr. Tanker. I was at SDCC and thought in person, the sculpt looked very good. It looked better to me there then in any of the pics or videos I've seen so far. So, if that's the sculpt I get, I'll be pretty happy with it. Just have to wait and see. Hoping to see more in hand pics/videos soon.

The prototype Her cheeks are wider, nose is narrower, eyes are smaller and don't have dead eye syndrome, face is softer.
Production eyes are too big and have dead eye, cheekbones are more prounounced and the face looks narrower, nose is bigger and has slightly different shape, forehead is smaller, eyebrows are thicker and lips are bigger

:exactly: They're the same.

lol paint... r you trying to say paint doesnt make a difference. No one is saying the sculpt may not be the same, really it doesn't matter if it is the same or not, fact is the paint job or whatever the change may be is a major fail to the point it no longer looks like FJ. The prototype however did. They don't look the same period, it doesn't matter to me if it's because of a change in sculpt or crappy paint job

Well. ..After watching the two videos and seeing a few of the shots popping up, I'm stoked. The outfit and gear are excellent. She's going to display great with K.

As for the portrait. ..looks like typical HT to me. Close on likeness but...looks like the character anyway. Still well - crafted. May be my favorite of the year...

Still annoyed that there's no Krennic or Cassian in the pipeline, and Baze seems all but canceled at this point. At least this figure looks good.

This Jyn was just the tonic we needed.

The hair may look different becuase it might've shrank a bit in production, but taking the angle of each head, the proto vs. production paint, the lighting and shadow into consideration, the faces are definitely the same sculpt.

I'm still very happy with what I'm seeing and looking froward to getting both versions of Jyn Erso.

Sorry guys, not really buying some of the logic going on here. So it's a coincidence it looks pretty much exactly the same as the prototype of the disguise version but very different than the prototype of this version?

We've seen both versions in various lighting (even the same lighting at the same cons) and never has the original prototype suddenly looked like the disguise version to me.

I went back to see what I had said, at first I thought they might've been different, but I later changed my tune, from 04-11-2017, post #103 in the Hot Toys Rogue One - Jyn Erso (Imperial Disguise Version) thread:
I've been scrutinizing the sculpts on and off all day and I'm starting to move over to the identical sculpt side. It's strange that a slightly different paint app and lighting setup is enough to change the appearance of a head sculpt as much as it does. The regular Jyn looks determined and a bit pissed off, the Disguise Jyn looks a little less serious and almost friendlier.
I ordered the Deluxe Jyn just this past Saturday, and the Disguise Jyn today, so I'll have both to scrutinize in person by the end of the year.

So I've been consistent! :lol

I'm sure it probably started out from the same sculpt, but I still see lips that are thinner and shaped differently now and cheeks that are a bit less puffy. So they definitely made some tweaks, and I really don't think it's just a matter of the lighting or paint work.

Whatever they did or didn't do though, one of these is a whole lot more instantly recognizable as Felicity Jones than the other, which is all that really matters to me in the end.
