To me, if you're spending $700+ might as well just go all the way.

I think the sculpted looks kind of bad up close. You can clearly see how those plastic strands are plugged into the head like the old HT Jokers DX01 and Bank Robber V1. It feels like the sculpts were designed to be haired first and foremost.
My thought as well. Premium makes the least sense for me. If you want sculpted 300 is great value. Otherwise if you really want the best of this character and your ok to spend for it then rooted is the way.

But to spend a lot of money and get the sculpted. That seems like the worse of both deals.

I don't know, I can see the Premium being worth it if you just want some nice Ledger Jokers in your collection and aren't too obsessed with rooted hair. Or just can't bring yourself to pay 1K for these things.

And from a normal viewing distance I doubt the plugged in sculpted hair will be very noticeable anyway.

You can't really go wrong with any of these Joker iterations from Queen. Sculpted or rooted, this is the BEST 1/6th Ledger Joker I have ever seen, and I have seen them all. I think everyone pretty much agrees on that.

But as anyone in the customs world knows, this will not be the last, end-all-be-all Ledger Joker made in 1/6th. It will, however, likely remain "just as good as the day you bought it" for many, many years to come. In other words, it will hold up against the newcomer in a year or in 10 years.

I mean, HT's Nicholson Joker is 10 years old or more now, and it still holds up great and looks like it could have been revealed just today. (except for the hat)

All great points in favor of the rooted hair and I 100% agree but I also intend to sell the 2nd body and prison cell if it’s too heavy for a detolf. I primarily want that 2nd sculpt.

I would also be happy enough with the sculpted version. I consider myself a mid level collector. I don’t have any rooted figures or anything over ~$400

What if….. Hot Toys drops a two figure DX release, with both rooted and sculpted heads… A $5-600 price will seem like a bargain.

3.0 Joker, where are you? Showcase after the 72h window has closed?

I think if Hot Toys really wanted to they could blow us all away. I mean, they have more money than anyone in 1/6th. If they utilized their resources to lethal effect, it could be mind blowing.

That said, I think they are comfortable in their habits and their profit margins and not interested in making any kind of expensive leap (besides simply raising prices slowly).
They definitely could but do they care enough to? Probably not, they very likely have Joker 3.0 on the way but they really need to go all out if they want to make the same impression Queen did.

Yes they've gotten comfortable in their current position, it's honestly sad to see, they were pioneers of the industry and did a lot of cool stuff, then they started making that Disney money and realized they could do less for more.

I am THIS close to ordering the 'Premium' 2 pack non-rooted hair. (mainly because I still have the MRM rooted 1:6th from a few years back that will suffice (kind of...lol). I just can't afford nor justify spending 1K USD (CAD dollar is in tank... .74/USD)

It is an endless cycle. Happened to Sideshow... happening to HT...

It will likely be really cool... great even... but probably not better than Queens. It will likely serve different needs for a display. I just can't imagine HT besting this particular Joker right now. Not with a slapped together proto build to challenge Queen.

Can we please try to convince Queen studios to not do PERS again in future offerings. It always takes away greatly from the likeness.
I think it looks great in this case. It seems much more subtle and well done than any of Hot Toys attempts with it.

I’m curious if anyone is holding out on this with an expectation that JND will eventually come out an even superior 1/6 version?
People aren't even thinking of JND lol, it's all about Queen and Hot Toys right now, if JND announces something that's even better than this offering I imagine a lot of people will be hitting their heads against the wall but we don't know if they will yet, unless I'm not properly informed.

People expect hot toys will answer queens challenge.

In reality hot toys was probably preping to reissue theyre decade old dx11 but with less accessories this time.
And that awful 1/4 scult downsized to 1/6 lol, but hey who knows they MIGHT surprise us.

I would be shocked if Hot Toys did something like that. Especially when you compare what they did with the DX19 compared to the DX12. Minor improvements but basically the same figure. I would expect Joker 3.0 to have two improved head sculpts with sculpted hair.

Are you?

Bird in the hand rule.
I’m not, no. One of the reasons I ordered the premium is because I think Queen already did a much better job with their 1/4 Joker sculpt compared to JND, so I personally am not expecting JND to show something in 1/6 that blows me away. Also expecting theirs to be a bit pricey because they’ve already said their 1/6 stuff will be fairly limited edition.
