So THAT'S what your up to Coco! Can't wait to see how it turns out. Let me know if you need a repainted SS Indy head as I have an extra to sell.

:D Yep. I want to go ahead and customize another one similar to what I had in the pic. Thanks for the sculpt off but I'm going to get a whole SS Indy and paint it myself. Sounds like Wor-Gar might be interested though.

I'm considering this option as well... I really have no interest in the full figure, but I think some bits and pieces look great and I think some parts I don't want (like the arabian disguise) will probably sell well parted out.

My hope is the disappointing sculpt could lead to a temporary drop in price and I can nab one for under $200.

Anyone have an opinion on Stevo's Indy belt and holster? Looks pretty nice and a bit cheaper than some of the other custom sets.

I don't want the map room disguise either so I'm hoping buying the full figure will be the best idea in the long run.

Never seen Stevo's belt. Got a link?

Take a look at Snyderman's custom heads. Even the best repaints I've seen of the SS head don't look nearly as much like Ford as the sculpts he offers. When I got the SS Raiders figure I considered having it repainted, but went with the pictured custom head instead. If you want a Indy that really looks like HF this is the place to start.

Looks like a much older Indy than ROTL to me there. Trevor's is the best I've seen so far, especially when you take a peak at the raw sculpts on the SS site.

I'm waitingfor Buddylee's sculpt. His Deckard is awesome.

Buddylee's sculpt is better than what's available from SS and HTs. There are problems with proportions though, such as his hair line is way to close to his eyes. It appears that may be to small as well.

You want Indiana? THIS is Indiana.
I wish Trevor can sculpt him in 1/6 TODAY

I'm not talking about raw sculpts. I'm talking about something I can actually own. Yes Trevor's raw sculpt looks great on the Sideshow site. But the face is obscured by shadows in most of the views so how can you really tell if it's as great as you think it is? A lot of people defend the SS production head saying that the paint ruins it. Even with the best paint it still doesn't look much like Harrison Ford. I'm not claiming the Snyderman head is perfection. I do think it is closer than anything else I've seen that I can purchase and put on a figure. Like most items this size it looks better in hand then photos can replicate. I should point out that I am a long time fan of this sculptor's work and support their efforts whenever I can. They gave us two great Marions to go with Indy so there is always that.

Going to have to disagree that Indy needs a serious expression, I think a cocky smirk captures the character just as well. Besides, there are too many serious sculpts out there, I always welcome a sculpt that offers a change of expression. :exactly:

I kinda figured the look they went for was the "trust me." look.

I was going to look at grabbing parts, but this one looks like you'd be crazy to grab it piecemeal. Given how this has played out, I think getting this for $150 in 4-6 months is not out of the question. It has the muscular body and accessories though, so I can't see it being any lower than that.

Hard to say what the head will be worth though. It looks really decent (8/10) and has PERS but I can't see it being a $50-75 head in 6 months. And it has that same obvious hair seam that Sweeney Todd has, but the hat covers it.

Does anyone know what OMG meant by being "concerned" about the material the leather jacket was made of?

Has anyone posted any in-hand thoughts on the pieces? From what I saw - Shirt/pants look excellent. Gun belt/holster look nice but not quite as good as SSC's (or custom ones), and the web belt looks too dark. Curious how the boots turned out.

Idol pedestal looks as wildly wrong as SSC's!

This is what OMG said:
Jacket looks big but is the opposite, plus the muscle body = articulation sucks big time! and the material ...... Medicom nightmare.

Indy lack the WOW factor for me when open up a HT figure, specially an overprice DX.

I've got the Arab disguise pieces pre-ordered from TA, and I had picked up a second Sideshow Indy from a fellow boardie earlier this year, just for this occasion.

As far as any other HT outfit pieces, the only thing I would want to replace from Sideshow's Indy is the jacket. I'm pretty happy with everything else. However, the HT jacket seems to have a whole other set of problems, from the fit to the finish/weathering. The fit could possibly be just because it's on a muscle body. It could end up fitting fine on a regular TT or Pro 1.2.

I'm going to play the waiting game and see if the figure ever drops to around $160 and I'll bite. I wouldn't sell off anything (I just don't like parting out my figures) and just keep it as part of the larger collection.

Sorry that looks nothing like him

faststreets, you have some of the most amazing custom Indy heads - how do you think they compare with the HT head in-hand?

Without question Trevor is the best sculpter out there.

Arnie Kim's Christopher Reeve Superman is the best thing he's ever done.

No one sculpts Harrison better than Trevor. Once you get past the bad Sideshow paint job, you can see some of the amazing detail under there.

To me, the Hot Toys Indy is a decent Indy figure, worth buying. The weakest link is the sculpt. Trevor's sculpts of Harrison are just better. Arnie has talent, perhaps he should not feel bad about all of the criticism, he is a better sculpter than I will ever be. I think next time he should simply 100% match a still from the film ...
