Mad Old Lu
Super Freak
Looks great Lu! One thing I can't figure out yet with this turban is how exactly I'm supposed to wrap it. Any help?
also, how did you get the cloth over his shoulder to stay??
Thanks, marker! And thanks, faststreets and toylion!
The turban was a PITA to figure out, but I think there is definitely a design to how it's supposed to be put on. I'm at work right now so I can't take any pictures, but I'll see if I can describe it.
The turban has the long strands stitched to the top hat part at two points. Those two points are the front. The front also has that twisty strand that runs across the width of the top hat part. There is an extra bit of short strand that is tucked up in the bowl of the hat, and should be pulled out so there is extra room for the head. That extra strand hangs from the back of the turban. Hopefully this will show you the orientation of how the turban should be placed.
At this point, if you want to unstitch the seam to give more room for the SS Indy head, you'll have to dig a little to find the seam on the back inside of the turban. It runs upward. But like I said before, that stitch is tied in to other stitchings of the turban, so be careful about how much you undo. I only clipped one or two stitches with a seam ripper, and it allowed for enough give without having to undo the entire seam or stitching.
Once you place the hat on the head with the right orientation, the long strand of the turban should be flipped up to sit on top of the hat. It's a tight fit, and I actually unstitched the left stitch (when facing Indy) which made it easier to manage. Still facing Indy, the left strand hangs straight down and the right strand goes over the shoulder.
Now the trick to keeping the strand over the shoulder sitting properly: tuck it under the strap of the bag! Add a couple of pennies to the bag so there is extra weight, and the bag strap will hold down the turban strands!
