A generation raised on Kenner/Hasbro instead of real Star Wars.

In the days before SW was even on a videocasette (more than 1/2 the classic-SW-in-theaters era,) all there was was memory, fanzines/Topps and Kenner.

Because for me back in the day there were four "main" BH (Fett, IG, Bossk and Dengar) I don't have a huge need to get Zuckuss and 4-LOM to feel like my BH line-up is "complete." Will definitely grab Dengar if it comes out close to this proto.

Sweating on price though. With Sideshow you just never know what price insanity they have up their sleeve.

The toys definitely elevated all these kinds of background characters to a whole new level. That was the real end of Star Wars, not the PT. As Ford and many others have pointed out for years, Lucas' interest in the merchandise money-machine kept Han Solo alive and introduced Ewoks to the world (amidst the entire Muppet show that was ROTJ). Even Lucas himself back then gave up his nine-part saga -- he just got sick of the whole thing.

... he retreated to Skywalker Ranch with the stated purpose to make "interesting independent movies that no one would see."

He was only half right - making Howard the Duck then the Young Indy Chronicles.

So even though they're visible in the movie (Dengar actually isn't seen in the movie - he was made famous solely by Kenner and Topps) they didn't register.

Dengar is seen in ESB. He's just the only hunter who doesn't get a close-up as Vader walks by.

Yeah, that's what I meant - he's the only BH you don't get a good look at, just a figure in the distance (though you see his shoulder/backpack up close.) All the others you see in detail.

The actor must have been so bummed. the only hunter with a human face and he gets no close up.

It's pretty funny how folks LOVED v1 Bossk.. now it's a generic overgrown Gecko in an old Dr Who costume.

I never purchase V1 Bossk because he just did not look right, it had no relation to all the Bossk images/products I grew up with. The exclusive head was no incentive as I never knew a snarling Bossk. Personally if I had V1 and now to see SS release a more accurate version I would be pissed as SS is basically saying we ****ed up on the original release and here is the more accurate.

With Ripley looking like a **** up I am now considering V2 Bossk, but it really depends on the price on Dengar. If Dengar is too high then pass on both.

I have no regret buying V1 Bossk exclusive, mostly because at $150 he was a good value. With this new version being $60 more, I wouldn't get this new one anyways. These $200+ price tags for figures is making me cut way back on purchases. Right now the only figure I'm thinking of getting that's out now or been previewed is the HT Snowtrooper commander to go with my SS regular.

I do agree with you on the V1 price tag. Seems much easier to be excited or tempted when prices were $170 or below.
