What is the perfect recipe of AF & VTS parts?

I'd say VTS vest and leg brace. (I'd leave the vest undone and over the shoulder armour).

AF knife as it fits better.

AF shirt, jacket and trousers.

AF SKS is more accurate.

AF Condor holster.

The VTS is good for the head, hands, vest and brace.

Ok, i have switched out the Terminator boots for the Han solo boots and i think they look much better (not 100% accurate, but im fine with that).

the VTS set isnt bad when fully assembled, but i have a bit more to do until i get to the look i am after...

- Ive putting him on a ZC neckless body
- changing the VTS jacket and pants for AF ones
- weathering up the boots to match

Im pretty excited to get him finished!

Put the VTS sculpt on the AF fig. What is the perfect recipe of AF & VTS parts?

I think it's really hard to say. But here we go:

Pants and jacket: VTS has the more accurate fit, but AF has the better choice of material. If you choose the VTS then getting rid of the shine is essential. Also the choice of body is deciding for the choice of outfit.

Vest: VTS has the best color and is more correct, but the AF has the better fit.

Gun holster: AF has the right color but doesn't have the correct rubber parts that the VTS has.

Leg brace: AF is way better quality but the VTS is more accurate.

Boots: depends on which scene you want. If you wanna display him with the vest you should choose the VTS boots. But both pairs could be much better.

Shoulder: VTS for size and accuracy, AF for fit

Shirt: VTS is more correct in material and fit and AF has better color.

Head: VTS, no doubt

Shotgun: AF, no doubt

Scarf: VTS, unless you are going for the intro look.

Knife: AF for look, VTS for size

...so, you see. Not so much help there ;-)

:lol

Just a bit of trial and error I guess. Its nice I can now put the fig amongst my other figs on display, I never felt the AF fig deserved shelf space because of the terrible head sculpt it came with. The VTS sculpt is very nice though, and seems to photograph well, not true with all action fig sculpts.

Nice :clap,

I think the boots could work with a good bit of weathering

I wasn't expecting to have mine for a few weeks so I got a lovely surprise today.

Took about an hour to get all his gear on and that uncoloured firearm does let it down a bit but I am super impressed with the over all quality. I think the quality on here is above Threezero and Star Ace but below Hot Toys.

Got too dark for my better pics but I will take more tomorrow.

So I was thinking sence I need to wait to get the AF pants. And I will be using the vts outfit but weathered. I decided to weather the AF jacket to see what it would look like and after I now know I have to get the pants to finish this. Check this out.20161119_124117.jpg20161119_124141.jpg

Don't know I still haven't gotten the vts figure yet. But I like how this came out so when I have the pants I will weather them as well. But regardless I think both outfits weathered correctly will look awesome.

Did your weathering just make the grayish "leather" look more rust colored -- like its been sand-worn, highly saturated sand-worn like the movie?

Yeah sence this is the AF jacket. And it's not leather or pleather. I used acrylic but I didn't dry brush I actually just cleaned the brush with the jacket. And used a paper towel to wipe the jacket. It dried and gave this look. And it actually now feels like worn leather. Might be the dry acrylic paint hardened.

Definitely the acrylic paint hardening giving it that stiff "pleather" feel. But the color in your pictures looks about right. I don't think the AF clothing needs too much weathering given the 'worn' effect as it is. But some sand colored areas look nice.

It is. I painted the jacket randomly and left what ever spots the same and the mix came out well. Just need the pants and add the same method.

Sculpt passed the acid test, asked someone who doesn't have an interest in action figs who the sculpt was of, they said its that Tim Harding isn't it? I said do you mean Tom Hardy, they said oh yeah him.

Will probably rock this look for the fig

I'm working on the shoulder pad right now. I decided to use the AF armor plate instead of the VTS one which I initially intended to use. The shape on the AF's is just about right, not as oversized as the VTS one, and it curves nicely on the shoulder. Also, the texture on the AF's is rougher, which I find more accurate than the VTS's. One challenge for me now is how to find the correct buttons in size for the shoulder pad. Luisenigma1, may I ask how you got those buttons/studs on the pad?

Yeah, what I used was the treds from a newline miniatures german boots I cut the needle off it and used gel glue to stick it to the pad. Here is some pics.20161119_155731.jpg20161119_155822.jpg

You can bend the vts pad without breaking it.
It has a base under it which will bend nicely and the pad itself will follow.
Just use your fingers to do it.
I did that on mine and it shows a lot better.

If only there was a way to secure it better (maybe on the vest?).

I heated the pads with a hair dryer and shaped them. The plugs on both popped out of the material base so had to glue them together.

Alternatively, you can get a very similar effect with very small nails and pins, provided you don't have a boot that size available - I've made studs that way before. Cutting the nail is easy, just don't lose the sharp part on the floor on accident haha. Bad for pets and feet.
Also went back and added more to the AF jacket this is what came out.View attachment 305551
Ding ding I think we have a winner with this work. Looks excellent. Well done.
