Also...in the movie there seems to be a lot of "CGI" stuffing, more information under the cape then there actually is.

The "actual" cape (CGI) doesn't look very real anyway. I hope with water treatment you can get a good hang as well as some nice contours with the body.

I'm more worried about the dodgy looking paint job on his eye area. Looks very odd and messy in those pics. Could be the flash though.

Yeah, that's the second picture I've seen where the eye-work just looks sloppy and toyish. Like you, I hope its that flash.

Once the cape is over the shoulders and he's bent down further it will look better, but without mid-torso articulation you will not get that true arched hunchback look. A little disappointed now that I see that.

No you cannot get a full hunch look like on the actual movies. The head doesn't articulate back that far do to all the material in his neck area. They have a lot of rubber bits in there to replicate things like his esophagus and you can't pull it back far enough to get that hunched over look that was super exaguratted in the film.

Personally I wasn't expecting him to have a flexible spine. Articulation to replicate 100% what a CGI character was able to do in a movie doesn't seem possible, so I'm not disappointed. Luckily, I don't like the hunched look and wouldn't display him that way, even if I could.

Oh well. Good to know early on what the limitations are; certainly agree that it would be impossible to get the same articulation as a 'cartoon' character. I still might try a half-arse attempt at hunchback anyway but I guess I'll be looking for a different pose now for permanent display. Hopefully I can license a pose from one of the guys here who always do amazing poses.

So I guess this ^^^^^ is as close to hunching him over we will get huh? Ohhhh well. no biggie like WOR-GAR said, Ill be looking for another pose. Maybe use that one ^^^ once or twice.

I feel better about the eyes from the video as well. I don't really see those flesh tones stripes around the eyes.

I feel a little better about the ankle joints too, not quite as enormous as the pictures make them looking the SSC website.

That's too bad...but it's understood that some "compromises" with the design had to be made when it comes to rendering something from a CG character that can "cheat" a bit with physics to get a certain look...still, I'm sure we can get something close to it with this (I hope)....Sideshow has proven that they can render a droid extremely well...Grievous will no doubt raise that already high bar...

I think if his cape was covering his shoulder armor that would also give him a bit more of that movie hunch look.

Haven't seen any shots yet giving that a go...is the cape big enough on the figure to allow for that and still have the right "drape"....hope so. See those movie stills for reference...

Yes...the look of him around the eyes is a little disconcerting in some of those early pics, considering that the box art actually features the "perfect" look there ( see the vid review at Yodanews...)

How about it, Optibotimus? You're probably working on that anxiously awaited video review now (we hope)...any chance of these issues addressed on it? It's be most welcome...in any case, looking forward to seeing what you can show us...

The video is done and will go up tomorrow.

As for the eyes...i love them. They're actually one of my favorite details on the figure. The yodanews images really make it look bad i think. The flash they used on their camera really brighten things. The "flesh" bits around the eye's aren't that bright in person. Those pictures really do a disservice if you ask me in showing how cool the eye's do in fact look.

That's a relief!

Good to hear about the eyes....looking forward to watching your vidoe when I get home from work tomorrow night....cheers!

yeah it's really not that bad looking...when looked at with flash or even intense lighting, it obviously stands out. But looking at it with the normal eye and under normal light, it's not a big deal

That being said...i got the okay to post the review now ;)
