Um, okay... moving on...

So when do we expect our Maroon Battle Droids to be around.

I couldn't remember any red OOM-9's in AOTC so I watched the Geonosis battle earlier today on blu-ray for the heck of it. Sure enough, the droid Mace Windu sommersaults over and then ricochets the blaster shot at while running away is a commander droid.

Not sure why I thought that was important enought to post but there you go.

I got my set this week and another mechanical figure winner from Sideshow! I kept my metal head exclusive from Fisto (if I recall), so wish they could do a limited run made with all metal - that would be sweet

I totally understand these being sold as a 2 pack, but I'd personally only like 1 to pose with my Captain Rex. I'm hoping somewhere like Toy Anxiety parts them out, or that I can find someone to split a pack. Maybe Sideshow will release singles in the future.

They're two for the price of one figure and since they're troop builders, I'm sure you shouldn't have TOO much problem selling an individual. Especially if you make sure to list the call sign on the back. There are variants and I'm positive there are completists out there that would rather guarantee themselves the proper droid to flesh out their ranks.

I mean... if you don't charge me too much shipping from Wisconsin to CA, I don't think I'd be against buying a single.

I wonder if for the red infantry droids they'll offer a grey C-3PO head as an exclusive. Then for AOTC 3PO they could offer a red battle droid head as its exclusive.

I imagine extra heads would have to be released either way since I doubt they'd be swappable just by themselves without extra tooling.

Is that something you would want? I didn't think there would be anyone that would want to display that.

I don't know. But it'd seem like a good choice for an exclusive accessory nonetheless. I could be tempted to pick one up for laughs.

I'd have to agree... while its not something I would kill to have; its enough that it might push me into a purchase, or at least to buy direct from sideshow rather than saving 10% at a retailer.

Not to mention it gives them a chance to reuse the C-3PO sculpt.

While I have nothing against a spare C-3PO or Battle Droid head (could make good window dressing for a Sandcrawler interior or Jabba's dungeon display), I would never - NEVER - display C-3PO's head on a battle droid or vice versa. That concept was one of the very worst things from a movie filled with imperfect things, almost worse than Jar Jar. If 3PO had merely had his block knocked off and then R2 had saved it and somehow reattached it to his body during the battle of Geonosis (without the droid identity crisis and terrible one-liners) I could have forgiven it. But as it was... :pfft:

Have to agree... the entire sequence with C-3PO was just painful.

I'd probably be more inclined to just have the head laying around like debris on a battlefield.

I actually do think "Die Jedi dogs! Whu, what did I say!?" is rather funny, just for the sheer absurdity of it. I mean what exactly is going on in that scene? The battle droid head is remotely controlling the body attached to 3PO's head? How does that work, and why would it make 3PO shout in murderous rage? Its just so beyond ridiculous I actually find it genuinely funny. :lol

The "I've fallen and I can't get up" and "this is such a drag" is definitely pretty lame though.

I feel the same way. I really think that both jar jar and 3po were horribly forced comic relief in the first two. I don't know what was up but for me was really out of place.

I really hated the new battle droid voice in revenge of the sith probably more annoying than what 3po said or did in the first two movies.

While any grown-up star wars fan hates C-3PO in the prequels (especially me), I think an exchangable portrait is necessary if they release a Battle Droid in those hues.

But, considering the re-engineering that it may require, it may not happen.

Yeah I dont think Sideshow would go through the engineering trouble of the removable head, just for that terrible gag. I could see them just adding the head though, the way battle droids head were added with whatever Jedi it was back when they did all the Jedi.

I'd rather have something like holographic a Nute Gunray/Runne Haako. If anything, that'd come with OOM-9.

That's such a sad statement, especially since I really liked 3PO in the OT. There is one moment in the prequel where C-3PO really works for me, and that's when he is arguing with R2 aboard the Naboo cruiser on Geonosis; the whole "I am am in charge here!" as R2 is taking off just harkens back to the OT chemistry that made these characters so charming...

Now THIS is an idea I can get behind! What I'd like even more is a 12" Nute Gunray; we need Separatist leaders!

Yeah I've been dying for them to make Nute and Rune, they seem like such easy choices. Basically just head sculpts with elaborate costumes. They could easily put out more characters like that in between the more complex figure releases.

just got these guys today and while i was a bit hesitant on getting them im glad i did, they are awesome.

Another thing that cracks me up about AOTC is that R2 tries to literally murder C-3PO by pushing him off the ledge in the droid factory. There's no way he could have anticipated 3PO being grabbed by a large flying droid out of the blue. That's hardcore! :lol
