I finally caved in. This is my first star wars purchese in well over a decade. The last time I got star wars was in the 90's with the hasbro 12" stuff. I have avoided this money pit ever since:thud:, but this and IG-88 are just too much awesome. I was going to skip the droids but for the price they are so worth it. Can't wait to get these, there due in about week:impatient:

The blaster on the bust does allow for both fingers.

**EDIT: sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. I'm not sure if Sideshow's battle droid would be able to fit it's fingers in the GG blaster. They do seem about the same size though.

On the GG bust, note the size of the head/length of the neck in relation to the shoulders and backpack. As great as the SS figures are, they got this way wrong. The head nearly touches the backpack, whereas it should clear it by nearly a centimeter more. I hope SS tweaks this for future releases, but I doubt they will.

I'm convinced Sideshow knew the neck length was way off, but they needed it short in order for it to fit into the droid's chest. The neck being able to compress is a cool gimmick, but I'd much rather have the accurate droid. I'm never going to display the droid folded up anyway, I don't imagine many would.

From what i see, it has nothing to do with the neck, its the backpack on the SS figure that ever so slightly sits higher up then on that GG mini bust.

And the heads do clear the backpack by a centimeter or more on the SS figure.

Also, GG has never been known to be that accurate either:slap. Although that has never stopped me from buying the GG busts:gah:. But comparing shots of the Battle Droid from Episode 1, you can tell that the Sideshow backpack does ride a bit to high. I think it looks good that way though since you can see the pack when you are looking at the figure from the front. Even if the neck is to short, I think Sideshow made it the proper length aesthetically. I don't mind a company tweaking stuff just a little bit so it works for what they are doing or creating, as long as it isn't major stuff. I mean, look at the original 3.75 inch figs, and I still loved them as a kid. I feel that sometimes it is even necessary to alter things, especially to make something work in the three dimensional world if it was originally digital. Even the phase 1 clones that Sideshow made weren't screen accurate since they didn't have the reflective visor, but I knew that and still liked and bought them. I think alot of the people that buy these figs feel the same way.

My thoughts exactly! :goodpost:

Okay, so I got these the other day. But I'm unsure on how the Blaster connects to the Back Pack.

No, it's definitely the neck. The backpack may be high as well, but the neck is too short.

It's not more aesthetic to me, the neck being too short is one of the first things I noticed about this figure. I feel they compromised the accuracy for the gimmick. Which is fine, it's still an amazing figure, the neck thing just bugs me. The Clones and Stormtroopers, as well as many figures, have inaccuracies, and many of their threads go one for pages with people arguing about it. If battle droids were more popular like the stormtrooper, Im sure there'd be a lot more comments about it, but most people are like, meh, it's a battle droid. Also, like I said before, I think this is a killer figure, and he neck issue shouldn't enough to stop anyone from picking it up.

well,i modified my phase 1 commanders with 0,02mm thick tin foil, looks like chromed

just caved in and ordered these, had used a $15 coupon-- not sure exactly where I'll put them yet. I'll be pondering my shelf organization after work today.

I've got the same issue, wondering where to display them as I don't have any star wars stuff on display. I'm afraid that im gonna have to get IG-88 next to make up a new star wars display, and I pre-ordered the sideshow boba fett, this is getting expensive! Mine are due to show up next week.
