I remember the Death Star playset was $30 and my parents saying that was way too much money...I still use that as a gauge for inflation...like if it takes me $60 to fill up my tank, I think...man, I could have bought two Death Star playsets for this back in '78!

The Death Star was awesome I got it for Christmas when I was five. I got a ton of use out of it later on with my GI Joes etc...

Isn't it great how nostalgia can put a positive spin back in a thread? :lol

I actually got it, I think Santa brought it, because $30 was a lot of money back then. Still have it to this day :)

Very little survived from my childhood... :( I did have around 4 or 5 figures from my childhood that were useable for my current vontage collection, but that's it.:lol

There was nothing like those old send aways. The 4 - 6 weeks seemed like forever waitng for my 4-LOM figure to arrive. I also remember sending away for some sort of misc. equipment assortment with a bunch of stuff. I'm not sure if I'm remembering right but I think it came with the pack that Luke carried Yoda in, a couple of breathing devices that Han, Leia and Chewie wore and some extra guns. Man those were the days.

The survival kit!! :rock

And yeah, those were GREAT memories... checking the mail box daily when you get home from school, just waiting to see a little box sitting in there. :D

That's really what it's all about... Just think about it, 30 some odd years after many of us got Boba Fett in the mail as children we're now all waiting to get Boba Fett in the mail again as adults. :monkey2

Can't wait! :lecture

That's what it's all about no matter what version you have!

I am the one that asked Jsupes for pics via PM. And i thanked him there, and would also like to do so in public.

Thanks bro appreciated!!!

Figure is a fail and disappointment to me.(love the accessories though) But congrats to those that like him.. Enjoy. I still look forward to more pics though.

(maybe i'll come around to him later, but i kinda doubt it)

Decent little story that you'll dig, J. One of my best friends tells this story about when he was a kid and had his tonsils removed. His mom tells him that she's going to go to the store to buy him a figure, so he's laying in bed excited for this thing, hoping for an Ewok or Luke or a Scout Trooper... She comes home and hands him General Madine. :lol Anyway, I've been meaning to pick one up on ebay to give to him for his birthday.

That is ____ing awesome! I would have loved to have seen the look of disappointment :lol I never owned Madine as a kid, but I do clearly remember a pile of them at Big Wheel (a department store in my town) for literally $.25 a piece. Must have been like 20 of them :lol

And you have got to get him one for his BDay, that would be epic :rock :rock

My 2nd most wanted SW toy when I was a kid was the Ewok Village; I was stoked when I got that one. Broke nearly every piece on it playing with it and had to have the boulder and elevator retied so many times they barely had any string left :lol :rock

I couldn't wait to get that grappling hook. :clap

I had sent away for that kit when I was a kid and it never came. Then about a year later I got a free Emperor figure in the mail which I already owned and a letter saying that they were sold out and sent me this figure instead as a replacement.

I remember getting the Emperor and Anakin in the mail... Anakin was definitely one I was not thrilled about. But the Emperor was sweet :rock

Honestly a lot of negativity about a figure can kind of suck the life out of getting it. I was happy enough with the Yavin Luke. It was certainly no masterpiece, but anytime you posted a pic of it people just pissed and moaned. Just took a bit of the fun out of getting the figure.

I can only speak for myself but I don't let that happen. When someone else starts buying my toys I'll let their opinion actually change how I feel. With as much crap as I've caught over the years here if I let it affect me I'd long have left.

Yavin Luke. I had Les repaint it into something that I thought was pretty cool but everytime I posted it it would spark moaning. I think that was the last time I really went out of my way (until the Hobbit heads) to post pics on this site. :monkey2

I like sharing my pics and videos. If people want to get upset they're more than welcomed to. Not gonna stop me from sharing.

For sure!

Just wait and see more pics, Os... There's no rush, esspecially if you're not liking what you've seen so far.

:yess: It's amazing how many great memories we have of SW figures from our childhood. :hi5:

I definitely see your point... and while I don't stop liking the figure. To me part of the fun of collecting is sharing thoughts and opinions on the forum. But the excessive negativity/trolling that occurs can just be tiresome and make that aspect of the collectible less fun.

I actually got down on my knees and prayed to God that the mailway Bossk would be delivered the next day...guess what was delivered the next day?

Yeah, of course sharing is part of the fun that I agree with. It's just there are always going to be people who complain because that's what they're good at. I could give a rats backside less about them and will share for those that I want to share with.
