Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

You really think they would release a tauntaun mount with no corresponding figures to ride it?

Yes:slap..........I sure hope its Ht that release the figure/ figures. I can't go back to Sideshows versions of Luke or Han.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

We did get the first of the Hoth figures at SDCC though... but Luke and Han on TaunTaun's will pretty much blow away the Snowtrooper display from last year.

Might be interesting to see a dio of a finalized prototype of the new Vader leading the charge into Echo base flanked by 5-6 Snowies. That would be impressive.

Maybe one side is Echo Base and the other side is the Hoth tundra with Han, Luke and the Tauntaun.

But honestly, I don't think both Han and Luke will be shown. I think that's a bit too "all in" on Hoth. I think one or the other will be shown and depending on sales they'll do the other. With the way Sideshow is pricing stuff nowadays, and the way the Hoth outfits are, I expect they'll ask $200+ for them.

Wonder if Han and Luke will come with alternate oufits (unlikely I know)... would be great if we also got the Snowspeeder outfit for Luke and even a redux of the Bespin look for Han.

As much as I don't want a shelf full of Lukes. . . I would really like a Pilot Luke. For whatever reason, I think Snowspeeder pilot is more iconic, just because of Dagobah and whatnot. And I guess there was a lot more screen time for that suit than X-Wing.

Just kinda strange to think that ANH version is not THE iconic outfit

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

Was there an announcement of these figures being released or is this speculation?

Not announced yet, but I don't think they'd make a mounted animal figure in 1:6 scale if they weren't planning on releasing someone to ride on it as well.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

This is why a DX Hoth/Bespin Han from Hot Toys needs to happen and also a DX Hoth Luke with Snowspeeder flight suit.

I agree. An HT Han Solo in Hoth to accompany the Taun Taun would be perfect. HT ans Sideshow better announce them concurently or make this as a joint venture set. I can imagine the price will be astronomical! I am ready to spend if they make it right!

Just no Sideshow Luke or Han! SS is not up to the task.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

I'm betting that the Hoth Han and Luke will be Sideshow releases.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

"Correct" brown would be best. You can tell in the HD releases that it's not actually blue, but so far I haven't seen an accurate brown on any figure/toy release. It's definitely not the chocolate brown from the Hasbro fig, nor the brown used on the 3 3/4 figs.

It would be cool to see a joint release from HT/Sideshow, where HT provides the head sculpt and TT body, and Sideshow provides everything else (clothing, weapons, etc...)

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

There has been a lot of color correction done over the years on the home video releases. I prefer my Han to have the blue coat because that's how I remembered it in the original theatrical print as well as my vintage Hoth Han Kenner figure.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

If SSC gives Han a brown jacket then they might as well make all future OT lightsabers white or silver. I want what appeared on screen, not on set.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

?! The coat appears BROWN on screen. "Back in the day" it appeared an indeterminate "dark" shade, but never did it look "blue" like Kenner's figure, nor Hasbro's re-releases. As I kid, having owned Hoth Han, I always wondered why on earth the toy had a blue coat.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun (in development)

Will they smell bad on the inside?
LOL J/K
I might buy one of these for my brother!

I believe you are in a very small minority if you looked/look at Han on Hoth and sees a brown coat. There's a reason Kenner made it blue.

Note his brown belt in contrast to his navy coat in the movie still on the front of the card.

If you see "navy" when you look at that photo (still), I don't know what to say. And I'm looking at it with a calibrated monitor... Even the figure was never produced in navy - far from, IMO.

I'd like a nice looking high-end Han in Hoth gear regardless, but I'll be somewhat disappointed if they put him in a blue coat. They'd never get any shade of blue to match every scene - because the coat was not blue to begin with. But if everything else was close, such as the cut and pattern, I suppose I could live with it. But in all honesty, even on un-corrected film release it's still a stretch to call what you see on screen "blue." They could make a dark grey version that that would more closely match what's seen in the film on older versions.

I find the issue of Han's coat to be fascinating. I wonder how many people are convinced they saw blue in the film because of the color of the vintage figure.
