Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

OK, I don't read the 40 pages of posts of this thread so sorry if I repeat something already said. :wink1:

Personally, I find the environment pretty cool and I could be interested... :rolleyes2
However, I don't like the SSC 1/6 Yoda. I prefer the one made by Medicom.

That said, do we know if this figure can bend her legs and sit down?
It's the only move the Medicom figure can't do and that would convince me to buy the SSC version.

Yes it has articulation in the knees. If you look back in the dedicated Yoda thread (now closed, how lame), you will see a picture of the manequinn Sideshow has for Yoda.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

The hut is @#%% awesome!!!:yess::clap:yess::clap:yess::clap

But have to say Medi Yoda is the better pick as far as the head sculpt is concern.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I think this is a bit of a shame. I'm not massively bothered about having a Yoda figure anyway, and I am agnostic when it comes to the company making them, but the sculpt is clearly quite far off the mark.

The Medicom looks better as a facial likeness, but is a bit thin, and has limited articulation. If I was going to buy a Yoda (and I doubt I ever will to be honest), then that would be the one I'd get.

But if I really wanted a perfect Yoda then this would be a frustrating situation, because neither figure is right.

I guess it's going to be a case of "Customizers - man your battle stations. And may the Force be with you!"

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Not sold on the face - or the hut for that matter. The only face I reckon anyone has truly knocked a home run with is the PF version where he's stabbing the clone (although it's the PT version) but all others look lame.

The hut is a bit of a cop-out for me; great sculpt, accessories, etc - but it's barely even a 1/4 of the actual hut - feels like a souped up version of the old 70's Kenner job :)

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

If they gave us twice the hut they did, it would cost over $500. That it's a throwback to the Kenner set is to its credit.

And NAM, I have to clarify what I said earlier. _____es _____ because they're _____es.

The Medicom figure doesn't look like the puppet. At all. It has more in common with the Marvel comic version from 1980. The only thing it has going for it is a stylistic likeness that expressed the more negative moods he went through in the film.

The Sideshow sculpt, though carrying an expression more representative of his positive moods in the film, is much closer in geometric reckoning to the face of the original puppet.

Neither are perfectly accurate. The closest I've seen to perfect is the Kotobukia vinyl snap-kit. Sideshow's comes in a close second.

And for only $10 more than what the Medi retailed that many years ago, $75 is cheap.

:rotflI'm losing sleep over his shade of green

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

The shade could be better, but it's not a deal breaker.

It's close..... something more human-y in the proportions of the face on the SS Yoda but all the trappings are there.

Ah! I see what it is that has thrown it off a little.

The chin and jawbone should not be so prominent, and the neck is too skinny. The eyes could be a little bigger too

Anyway, I have never thought that the Star Wars 1/6 line has ever striven for total realism. I think Sideshow have always mixed in a little of the Toys we played with as children when comes to designing these figures.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Come to think of it i really don't need/want the ex. I mean it's a cool throwback but don't need it.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Are you sure the snake is backwards in the Sideshow snake, and not in the Kenner snake instead? Look at how the head of the snake is angled. They match on both snakes. I would need to find my own Yoda snake to check for myself, which could take a while. Is the Kenner snakes eyes on the front of the snake or the back of the snake in that pic? If the eyes are on the back, looking over Yoda's shoulder, then the Sideshow snake isn't wrong. Remember, you could always flip the Kenner snake over, so that the head was either on Yoda's right or Yoda's left. Also, doesn't the Kenner snake lay flat anyway, unless you flex it one way or the other with one of his hands??

all those words add up to "wrong you are about this"...................:pfft:

:lol....j/k.........but thats how he was on the card........:lecture

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

whilst they are both nice- yoda and this hut- i prefer my medicom figure and i cant manage to get excited about the htut-
hope it does sell well thou- then we might see other environs that i would be interested in..

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I think it's the eyes that are the biggest problem, but I have a suspicion that a re-paint might go a long way.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I don't remember this vitriol when we saw the unpainted sculpt so I think a lot of the "problem" many are having stems from the paint job or maybe the lighting. Not to mention Yoda's appearance varies greatly depending on his mood.
Personally I'm tickled pink to be getting a 1/6 articulated Yoda with a sculpt that is clearly Yoda.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I missed out on the ex and am on the waitlist. I was too busy zip lining through redwood trees yesterday. Hope it converts.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Watched the back stage video, am being completely blown again!!!

I love the fact that all the little accessories in the hut are done in accordance to reference materials from the movie. Fantastic job Sideshow! I will never forgive myself if I don't get this one.:lol
