if you don't like people exercising their Constitutional right to bear arms you are free to move to a country that has no such right. :peace

Oh give me a break, everyone in my family has fought for this country and I'm not about to move because the idiot bullies are now armed. Get real loser.

Read my post again carefully-- I said have a gun in your home if it makes you feel safer, but not a semi-automatic that can fire 60+ rounds in a minute. Are you really under the belief that massive hordes are coming to get you?

massive hordes, no. Its the one individual who sees me as an easy target to rob, or my wife and daughter to rape. You want to be left helpless that's your right, but you will have to excuse me for exercising mine to defend myself.

get real, really? So everyone armed is an idiot bully? Get off your high horse man.

No not everyone, the idiots who kill innocent people because there was a black kid in a hoodie in a white neighborhood. The ones who think having a gun makes them more powerful then everyone else, and theirs more of those then normal people who just pack a piece when they goto the movies. I don't know any normal people who bring a gun to the bar with them. The if you don't like it you should move arguement is as dumb as it gets. My father and uncle both own several weapons, they have never taken them with them anywhere except a range and keep them for home defense.

A man bought weapons, one of which could fire 60+ rounds a minute, in a matter of weeks and 6000 rounds on-line and opened fire in a crowded movie theatre and you're going to sit there and tell me that this is about your right to defend yourself? Society has shifted and isolation, disillusionment, and despair are replacing everyday happiness. We've become a fear society. Fear perpetuates more fear. Do you know why it's easy for someone to pull the trigger? They don't have to get close-- Just like how this guy lived his life.

Defend yourself. Defend your home. Defend your family. But don't turn your back and deny that there is a real problem out there and the ease of acquiring high powered assault rifles is at the centre.

Come on man, why don't you look up facts before you speak? Look at all the facts of the hoodie case and not the media hype. Thats the problem with people today, they are sheep and can't think for themselves and believe everything the media throws at them.

3 people in this world need to fire 6000 rounds per minute, 1 are the Marines in a warzone, 1 are pyscho killers, and the other are blind *******. If you can't hit your target in 8-12 shots you should not be armed. There is no need for a private citizen to own an assault rifle.

It is absolutely about my right to defend myself, the fact that you can't understand that is on you. That man would have found another way to kill someone, maybe with a bomb, or ran over a bunch of people outside the movie. More people are killed with cars every year then guns, so lets ban them too. Maybe you live your life in fear, but most of us don't. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country and some of the highest crime rates. Wofford posted a link where his city requires people to own guns and guess what, the crime rate plummeted. I also posted a link earlier that showed crime rates dropped where people were allowed to carry concealed weapons. All the actual facts point to people being safer when they are allowed to carry weapons. You can try to marginalize that all you want, but the facts still remain. Your fear of guns cannot change the facts.

so your changing your stance from people shouldn't be allowed to have guns to people shouldn't be allowed to have guns that fire 6000 rounds a minute? Just wanted to clarify.

I never said anything about taking anyones guns away.

I'm not changing my stance at all you just cannot read, I've said all along guns are fine to own but it's unnerving that dumb people like yourself who clearly misunderstand everything directed at you want to own ones that can kill 30 people in a minute.

ahh, typical internet bully speak. If you can't make a rational point attack and label the person your debating with.

btw, I can't think of any place that sells a gun that can actually shoot 6,000 rounds per minute, and certainly no clips that you can put into a gun that will hold 6,000 rounds. I'm sure you weren't specifically misrepresenting the facts to prove a point or anything though.

I'm not calling you dumb for disagreeing with me, just as I don't call my father or friends dumb for owning a gun. I'm calling you dumb because my post is one up from yours and you still completely misread and misinterprut the things I'm saying to make me look wrong. You start it and then you try to call the other person out for doing it back, it's hilarious to me that your the type who likes to dish it out and then instantly turns into a hypocrite when others do it to you. What do you call the inability to read and respond to the actual things being discussed? It's either cowardess or outright stupidity.

again, feel free to debate the facts. I do not believe its possible to buy a gun that shoots 6,000 rounds per minute at a Bass Pro Shop. The killer had two glocks, a shot gun, and a AR-15, none of which can came close to 6,000 rounds a minute. Not to mention they dont make magazines that hold that much ammunition.

I remember a guy from Vermont coming back to my hotel one night after bar hopping in the Old Port (Portland, Maine).

He said he felt like everyone was carrying because he knew that gun ownership was not highly restricted in Maine. It freaked him out.

I don't live my life in fear-- I live in Canada where guns are not viewed as a god-given right and the boogeyman isn't out to get me. Violence happens here too-- but guns are primarily viewed as being used for hunting and home defense.

I'm glad that you live your life without fear with a gun. I live my life without fear without a gun. I think fundamentally it comes down to your country being founded by guns while mine was founded through dialogue. It's sad that some only feel safe with guns. There is absolutely no reason why a guy can acquire the weapons and ammunitions that he did so easily. Cars killing people is a flawed argument. Toasters also kill people who like their toast in the bathtub-- I don't know too many toasters though that dispense 60 pieces of toast per minute.

as I have stated before, I do not currently own any guns. That will probably change in the near future. As for the cars, well there are far more deaths due to cars then due to guns in this country, so something that dangerous obviously needs to be taken off the street. I don't know the stats on toaster deaths though :cuckoo:

I was robbed in my home, in my bedroom in fact, with a gun to my head. It took me a few years to feel comfortable in my house again and at no point did I think, hey I need to arm myself. Even if I had a gun at the time, the way it happened would have allowed me no time to be ready for it or to have gotten to a weapon.
