I mentioned typically the nutters are loners how are they going to have contacts on the black market to buy guns?

Typically these "nutters" are smart. We aren't talking (excuse the word) ******* here. These are usually very intelligent people that are resourceful and determined.

Gun violence--specifically massacres... Is there any solution?

anigif_enhanced-buzz-29656-1342716232-0.gif

Stay on target.

No and I stated that earlier. You can still get guns on the black market. The people who go on these rampages are nut cases, they are typically loners who snap or have some underlying mental issues. It's not the criminals buying the guns from the black market you have to worry about it's the nutters who snap, walk in to a gun store and buy guns and go and kill 20 people. As I mentioned typically the nutters are loners how are they going to have contacts on the black market to buy guns?

There's not a big city on this planet that doesn't have an area where one can achieve that. You just have to know where to look.

except for blackmask. He's passing on her. :lol

And Valfar, he wants the chubby booger muncher in the background.

I think the conversation's been sidetracked to a USA gun laws versus the rest of the world, and I think the more important question might be why are there seemingly more and more people feeling completely zero empathy for others and thus they're able to commit such atrocities? What's happening to our society (in the Western world where we're supposed to be so enlightened?)? This horrific act is not just found in the US. Many Western countries (Canada included) have witnessed these acts.

That's true too. So what point are you trying to make?

Are you happy to just say "well so be it, these things are going to happen every couple of years, it's a part of American life" or would you prefer an attempt be made, weather it be changes to gun laws or something else that may help eradicate or reduce the frequency of these events?

Your media has already thrown their hands up and said well nothing we can do about it, we just have to live with it are you happy doing the same?

Did you say something?

Bad parenting. There are exceptions, but for the most part, parents are not instilling the values on their children that they need to. Instead they're teaching them, it's always someone else's fault and you don't have to feel bad because you're not accountable for your own actions.

First of all, it's not part of American life, it's part of World life.

And honestly, there isn't much you can do about it. There are crazy, determined people in this world. Gun control won't change that. It's already been discussed to death.

Did you just make that up or something? We have some of the lowest homicide rates in the world, the US has almost 5 times us.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

Let me guess it's wikipedia so you won't believe it? But if it supported your case I'm sure you would!

I have never been mugged, robbed, had my car stolen, never had to call the police or been in to a police station for that matter. I feel safe sorry if you can't understand that. Even if we had gun laws that allowed people to buy them for self defense I wouldn't get one, I have no need.

nope, used actual statistics:

https://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita

check the list out, your #18, don't see the US anywhere.

The I've never been mugged, robbed, shot argument has got to be the stupidest argument ever. Unless you can say no one in your country has ever been mugged, robbed or shot, then you do not have a valid point. The fact that something hasn't happened to you, does not in any way make it as if it doesn't exist. That's the equivalent of my 3 year old closing her eyes and thinking everyone else can't see her :cuckoo:

:slap

Moviegoers in Sierra Visa, Arizona, panicked when a man who appeared intoxicated was confronted during a showing of the movie. The Cochise County Sheriff's office said it caused "mass hysteria" and about 50 people fled the theatre.

Michael William Borboa, 27, was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, and threatening and intimidating.

A Maine man was arrested when he told authorities that he was on his way to shoot a former employer a day after watching "The Dark Knight Rises," Maine state police said Monday.

Timothy Courtois of Biddeford, Maine, had been stopped for speeding, and a police search of his car found an AK-47 assault weapon, four handguns, ammunition and news clippings about the mass shooting that left 12 people dead early Friday, authorities said.

In Southern California, a man at a Sunday afternoon showing of the film was arrested after witnesses said he made threats and alluded to the Colorado shooting when the movie didn't start.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were called to a cinema complex in Norwalk after moviegoers said 52-year-old Clark Tabor shouted: "I should go off like in Colorado." They said he then asked: "Does anybody have a gun?"

It's just WAY to easy....

Let me just say also. I live in Canada. I live right across from Detroit. Now if you know anything about Detroit and what goes on there on a daily basis, you can see what I see and how contrasting it is just to live across the water, not 10 minutes away in Ontario. And it's like night and day.

so what exactly was your point with the above links? How many people were killed in those instances? As for Detroit, the majority of gun related homicides are committed with illegal weapons. How does taking guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens change that exactly? Is this another one of those if you close your eyes and wish hard enough fairy tales?

You are blurring the line between the Military and civilians. I have no issue at all with the Military owning the biggest, badass equipment money can buy because our sovereignty depends on it. I only started on wars etc. because you started on how America has been god’s gift to the world and how dare anyone tell us about gun control after what we have done for everyone blah blah blah. I was simply pointing out that besides your contribution to WW2 (and the only reason you got involved was because Pearl Harbor was bombed) you have done nothing for us and actually been a burden.

People in this thread go on about history etc. but the majority wouldn't have a clue what going on outside your borders.

I am sure all those countries that have been (Iraq) or currently are (Cuba) ruled by a dictator really feel safe that their sovereignty depends on the military :slap How do you think the majority of Chinese people feel about their human rights and the fact that only the military has all the guns? The Revolutionary War probably would have turned out a little different if only Great Brittan had guns.

I have made many valid points, we have not had one mass shooting since we brought in tough gun legislation and the statistics I provided above. The funny thing is I have not heard one shred of proof from any of the pro-gun guys in this thread to suggest it wouldn't help! I am to simply take the word of a gun enthusiast on a figures forum that tougher gun laws wouldn't help in these situations?

then I am assuming you cannot read. Many people have posted plenty of proof that demonstrates gun control does not work. Cities with the highest gun control rates have much higher gun crime then those that have more lax requirements. I guess you can choose not to believe the actual facts, but just because your unwilling to accept them doesn't make your argument any stronger.

I agree 100%... but then ironically you need a license and the proper training to own a gun but anyone can be a parent.

There's definitely a sense of entitlement in the next generation.

And with that......I'm going to get get some lunch. WITH A LARGE DIET SODA! Up your's hippy New York City! :lol

I would really like to hear your theory on how to stop these mass shootings or are you just willing to accept this as a part of American life and label them a natural disaster?

How do you stop mass killings anywhere in the world?

Hungerford massacre (United Kingdom, 1987): Michael Robert Ryan, using two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun, killed 16 people and wounded 15 others in aspace of 7 hours before shooting himself.

Aramoana Massacre (New Zealand, 1990): David Gray, using a Norinco Type 56-1S .223 semi-automatic rifle killed 13 people on 13 November. He was shot and killed by police the following day after a 22 hour stand off.

killed 23 people near Tiananmen Square on September 20, including an Iranian diplomat and his son. He was finally shot dead by a police sniper.

Dunblane massacre (United Kingdom, 1996): Thomas Hamilton, using two 9 mm Browning HP pistols and two Smith & Wesson .357 magnum revolvers, fired 109 times killed 17 people and injured 15 people on 13 March, before shooting himself.

Port Arthur massacre (Australia, 1996): Martin Bryant, using an AR-15 and an L1A1 SLR, killed 35 and injured 19 in five hours before being arrested by the Special Operations Group of the Tasmanian Police.

Dnepropetrovsk maniacs (Ukraine, 2007): an unusual group murder spree. Viktor Sayenko, Alexander Hanzha and Igor Suprunyuck, all 19, went on several murder sprees, claiming 21 victims in one month and videotaping most murders. Two victims were murdered within minutes of each other on June 25; two more on July 1st, three on July 7th, and two each on the 14th, 15th and 16th July, 2007.

Akihabara massacre (Japan, 2008): Tomohiro Kato hit five pedestrians with a truck, then stabbed twelve people. Kato killed 7 and injured 10.

Lets just look at the UK:

The bomb also caused damage to surrounding buildings, many of which were also badly damaged by the Bishopsgate bombing the following year. The bomb caused £800 million worth of damage, £200 million more than the total damaged caused by the 10,000 explosions that had occurred during the Troubles in Northern Ireland up to that point.[13]

Police had received a coded warning, but were still evacuating the area at the time of the explosion. The insurance payments required were so enormous, that Lloyd's of London almost went bankrupt under the strain, and there was a crisis in the London insurance market. The area had already suffered damage from the Baltic Exchange bombing the year before. (see 1993 Bishopsgate bombing)

I guess if people want to kill they will find a way to kill.

I agree 100%... but then ironically you need a license and the proper training to own a gun but anyone can be a parent.

There's definitely a sense of entitlement in the next generation.

But look how badly everybody already looks at the US. If we imposed laws regarding child bearing, (which I think should have a mandatory IQ level), we'd be hated more than China. :lol

csi, some good points there but the IRA stuff is a bit misleading. When Texas wants to become independent and Washington won't let them with the US military called in to essentially occupy Texas then we might see some equivalent statistics...

If I had my way we would have proper parenting/life skills before graduating high school (whatever the equivalent is in other countries). Anyone can have children, but not everyone becomes a true parent.

Again, Darwinism would take care of this for us but unfortunately we have too many safety nets (and labels... don't drink this rat poison) set up.
