I'm thinking historical figures would be the easiest and cheapest to do from a "rights to their likeness/ease of obtainment" argument. Composers, writers, artists, non-military world leaders--none of these have really crossed over to the 1/6 scale--outside of many U.S. Presidents, war generals, and a few dictators. I'm thinking everyone that was in Bill and Ted's phone booth is fair game. Could be cool...could save me some bread.

Sports stars would be interesting--again rather untapped in the 1/6 scale, but like Michael said, they would hafta be rather dynamic and iconic. I'm picturing, I dunno, Willie Stargell in that late 70's Pirates uniform or Pele or Muhammad Ali. Football would be done really well by Hot Toys b/c the uniforms are pretty complex, but again they'd hafta be really well known b/c they'd be wearing a helmet most of the time. I wouldn't mind a decent 1/6 Bradshaw or Franco Harris if they were done right.

Well, I don't know how true this is but I just found this in one of the forums of my local store (here in Malaysia).

Could the first of the new line be - James Dean?

Unfortunately, the text seems to be Japanese kanji (I think) which I'm not able to read.

Great find! Those are the HT Warlords in the corner of the ad, so this is probably it. Looks like they're trying the real hair thing like DiD.

He looks great - I'm not a huge fan, but I'll probably get him. Let's see - what other personalities get licensed out a lot...

John Wayne
Elvis
Marilyn
Bogart
Sinatra

might be interesting...

Famous Actors it is then, maybe thats why the Marlon Brando was released like test figure.

Hair look scuplted to me and he's a cool looking figure.

Wow, great find! The big scoops are often hidden in the little corners.
I'm not per se a fan of the man but as an iconic figure I'd have trouble to resist this one. Let's hope for a Brando.

That James Dean would be a buy for me, Brando,Eastwood,ect...I want them all.
DEAN WAS THE FIRST OF MY KIND !!!!

Looks like Dean from GIANT. I hope this means that some older, classic films/actors may be getting the figure treatment.

I'm not sure if this figure is by Hot Toys, or not, but it is indeed James Dean from "Giant" (the Japanese text says so) and this figure appears to be part of a new line that will bring back the nostalgia of the 50s... sounds like they aim to do a revival of sorts, of classic films and their stars. James Dean is still hugely popular in Japan, so I guess that's why they may be kicking things off with him. I wonder who'll be next... Audrey Hepburn? Lot's of possibilities for some great head sculpts there, for anyone into Hollywood film classics.

as good as their headsculpts are ,maybe they'll do a bruce lee that will rival Enterbay.

It does kinda look like him, but I don't think they'll use the same sculpt. If they're going to make iconic film stars, you can bet the portraits will be much more accurate than the ones they do that merely "suggest" certain celebrities.

If this is what they are going to release then sign me up! This figure looks awesome, just wish it was Dean from Rebel Without a Cause. This is exciting people! I want a young Eastwood, Brando, etc...........

But this is a figure of a character played by James Dean, isn't it? Real people made me think more of people like Kennedy or Nelson Mandela or something.

If that's the case I'd like to see Todd Beamer and Rick Rescorla as the first real people in the line.
