The added height on the front "triangle" section above the brim makes a difference enough in the overall look.

Where's all the Piett pics?

Here's one quick, finished FUTZING him last night. Of course I forgot the pens again.

Seems like his shoulders could stand to be a little wider.

Anybody know which way his belt goes? I have it on the way SS had it on, but I've seen a pic where the little silver dot is on the other side of the buckle. Can anyone confirm which way they wear their belts?

That looks AWESOME Wor-Gar! Can't wait to do the same to my Piett when I get him! :rock

Thanks guys!

He really is a nice figure, and VERY OT.

Maulfan, I just got the hat wet and then shaped it best I could. I thought maybe I could stretch the brim out and iron it but that didn't really do anything. The brim is a little shorter than the real Piett but it works well enough.

Now, to get those pen thingies...

Looks fantastic Wor-Gar!

Thanks again all!

If anyone can get some screen grabs of Piett from ESB so I can see which way his belt goes that would be much appreciated. I'm not home right now to pop in the DVD.

Well, I couldn't find the correct 'PIETT' phot for now, but did find this "MOFF JERR" shot that may answer the question:

Nicely done Wor-Gar. The hat is the key to this figure. If the hat is placed and futzed properly, it really brings the figure to life in my opinion.

I look forward to picking this figure up now that I see what its potential is.

Glad to help. And thanks for the compliments, guys.

Given the pressed nature of a military uniform like this, it definitely needs some attention to realize it's intended look. But it's really easy to do and the cut is there.

My brother and I got ours today. First let me say, Wor-Gar your pic and futzing is awesome. Really makes this guy sing.

BUT...nothing could make him look like Piett. Something is terribly off about the sculpt or the paint or both. Looks just like Constable Odo. Looks like one of Hot Toys', "...we have rights to the movie but not the actor's likeness." moves.

Now this was my first non-armored Pro body and it is really good. The joints are tight and it moves well. The shoulders seem to be a tad bit undersized though but not out of wack for this character. I still say the Joes need a better shoulder and looks like Duke may have that...but I digress.

I really like that fact that they didn't cheap out like HT's and they added two sets of hands with TWO sets of wrist pegs. Bravo SSC, nice work.

Overall, I'm glad we picked this guy up. Hoping someone will do a fantastic custom on him and bring out the likeness so I have confidence that it is there. If not, I guess it will be what it is unless someone resculpts the face.

Do you just get him now, Lee?

This will sound strange, but take another look at him when it gets dark, when you have your house lights on. I find that these sculpts really pop under strong light and harsher shadows, which was more like how he was seen in ESB. I think you'll see more likeness there tonight.

While not as spot on as some sculpts, I think Piett is in the sculpt more than it may seem.

With all the features to his face, I think this portrait requires lighting conditions to match the Star Wars environments to truly see any resemblance in the portrait.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I think seen in the same conditions or close to as the real actor in the films, the figure can look more like him than you'd expect under typical house lighting.

The reason why the likeness is off is because it was sculpted for the pro neck joint which meant that Andy had to compensate by making the face to triangle in shape rather than Piett's oval face.

I don't think anyone's feeling it off because of the shape of his face, I can totally agree with folks that under a lot of lighting conditions, the key part of the face (eyes, nose, mouth) looks off, his face has very defining shapes and features that really only pop under certain lighting. The shape of the whole head could be different and with the same eyes and all and people would still feel the same, it's the lighting you view this under that really changes how much or how little it looks like him.

Does this really not look like Piett?

Maybe it's the skin tone and lips. Maybe he should be more pale and strung-out looking. A repaint would really bring him out I think.
