Was that post really necessary? The guy made a pretty subjective comment in reply to somebody elses comment and he was correct, have you played at higher resolutions and frames? I have a 144Hz monitor, It makes a huge difference despite the myth that 30fps is all the Human eye can see. We get enough of this rubbish in the youtube comments, don't need them here. I will just say though, most PC gamers, me included started off as console gamers. We simply made the natural progression to PC as we aged and had more disposable income. There is no debate at all that the PC is a far superior platform anyway, it is a non argument as anybody that has made the transition will tell you. The xbox one and the PS4 are both pretty much low end PCs. I'm happy to pay more and build a half decent pc to the specs I want so I have access to all of the performance and extra options that the PC generally offers, not to mention access to titles like DCS: World which will always be pc only given their requirements. If people prefer consoles, that's fine by me, I used to. But you'll have to forgive us if we find it a bit funny when 1080p, 30fps is being used as a big selling point for the "next gen" consoles. We're all playing the same game here..

Yes I have played at higher resolutions as I've been in PC gaming for many years. And we don't need the rubbish PC lectures in here either. There's a thread for that. And you'll have to forgive me when I respond to these condescending comments as I find it funny that most PC users have to segue these conversations about your "transition" from console gaming to the PC master race. I'm happy that you're happy. Have a nice day.

I wasn't condescending at all, this master race rubbish is just boring and weirdly inoffensive... I will though thanks

I am convinced that this creature is the embodiment of all those souls we've killed in all those videogames that empowered us to God-level with nanosuits and PPKs, out for revenge!

:lol It's like a nightmare you just want to escape from. This game is definitely not for the faint of heart.

In case you didn't realize, a good number of people in here are currently playing this game for PC as well, so there's no need to marginalize anyone and tell them to head to the other thread :dunno. I don't think I was antagonizing you to warrant the reply you gave me. But, if you've got a problem with people, please keep it to yourself...

I might need to play this on a monitor eventually when things go nuts.. This is REALLY intense in VR. I'm jumping at noises and shadows...I haven't even seen the Alien yet. This is such a beautiful game though. It's great to just walk around and look at the environments.

That sounds amazing :lol. This game is already pretty horrifying with virtual surround sound (yeah, virtual, because I don't have room for an actual setup :(), so I can only imagine how intense it must be in VR. What kind of graphics card do you have, by the way? I've been wondering if the older generation of Nvidia cards are VR capable, or if whether it's only exclusive to the 900 series.

Do you have the DK1 or 2? I've read how the rift can make even the most pixelated of horror games scary, I imagine something like this on the full res production rift could send some people over the edge... personally I can't wait to try it out.

I like this guy for rift videos, I haven't watched the isolation video yet however as I don't want to spoil anything. EDIT: I just played the start and he isn't actually using the rift on it yet, might be worth a watch anyway.

I've got a 780ti. I'm running everything on high, but I should probably drop down to medium since I do get some judder when in bigger areas. VR is insanely demanding. DK2 wants 75 fps and of course your'e rendering in stereo. Big resource hog.

Alien Isolation + Rift + Headphones = bowel urgency. It's going to take me ages to get through this game, but I'm ok with that.

I have a DK2. Res is a big step up from dk1, but still not good enough for some things. In tight quarters, the res is fine, but open spaces and trying to see things that are far away can be a problem. Thankfully for this game at least, it's pretty cramped and claustrophobic. Being in the vent systems is particular cool. I'm dreading and looking forward to being able to lean forward and look out of the lockers to track the Alien. Peaking above and around cover to look for him is going to be nuts too.

Running the DK2 with GTX 770 4GB, runs pretty well for me all settings turned up. But I haven't played it for all that long so I don't know how it will perform in the more intense parts.

Settings don't seem to make a difference with judder, so it's likely an sdk issue. Not a big surprise really. TBH, I'm surprised it works as well as it does. It's likely running on an old sdk, so I'm just happy that we can play it on the rift at all.

Wow...I just ran into the Alien for the first time...and it was terrifying. I squealed like a girl when it tackled me and ate my face and then laughed for several minutes afterward. In VR, this game is a heart attack waiting to happen. Is there such a thing as too scary?

Oh. Well, I'm not sure if there were any professional sites reviewing the PS3 version (I haven't seen it as yet). But, if you want to know how good the game is on the PS3, you can definitely confer with Amazon customer reviews. They're generally reliable, and judging by the high ratings, it looks like the PS3 version was a good port.
Cheers mate, I'll check that out. :duff

Alright, that settles it, I need to get an Occulus Rift before anything else :lol. In any case, it's good to know that it worked on your 780ti. I have a factory overclocked 780, so I'm sure it won't be a problem, either.

Cheers mate, I'll check that out. :duff

No prob :duff. Plus, if it's any consolation, both the PS4 and PS3 versions are locked at 30fps. All in all, I'd say this game truly shines in its audio, which should be handled well by the PS3 too. It's a really horrifying experience, I'll tell you that.

Yes, there is. And IGN called it being "mediocre". It was too scary for their reviewer, and he/she (presumably after changing his/her undergarments) decided to claim the game was not good.

Just a quick screenie showing how bad my hiding skills are. :lol

:lol I'd never recommend the dk2 to anyone as it's still pretty rough around the edges and I'm a huge vr guy, so I can look past those things. You might be disappointed. The consumer Rift is going to blow minds and be much more polished. You might want to wait. Then again, if you do get a Rift now, you might love it as much as I do...who knows! Yeah, your 780 is very capable of handling current VR demands. Even with all of it's flaws, Alien in VR is an incredible experience, so I can't completely discourage you either. The Rift mode is somewhat hidden in the code and is easy to activate, but because it's not officially supported, updates and improvements are unlikely. But it's so cool! LOL.
