Ok, on mission 5 of my inital playthrough, and have one question, 'What frustrating checkpoints are the reviewers talking about"?

Maybe its due to me being an old school gamer where manual saves were required, but the save station locations are very generous, I think. Not once thus far has it been an issue. Game got me to rewatch ALIEN last night.....loving the game.

I have not tried..... :lol, I think only fire works, I am paralyzed with fear around that thing though, all I do is hide behind crates and under desks :rotfl

i actually had a "fun" moment with fire. I came crawling out of something when just in front of me he jumped out of a vent but with his back towards me. so first reaction i did was immediately use my flamethrower, just for a sec. to scare him off but instead he didnt ran away, he noticed me because of that and got me. i have the video clip saved but im waiting for the update so i can upload it to youtube. i could save it on stick and transfer it over to my pc but meh, dont feel like doing that. (ps4 user here)

ok, glad I am not the only one. The more I read these reviews, the more convinced i am that some want their games to be delivered to them on a platter. So glad I chose hard mode....would have been bummed playing on Medium if too easy. IGN's review of 5.9 is such a load of crap to me now

I'm on my second playthrough, punched it up a notch to Medium. Threw an EMP at a Working Joe, and just as I finished him the Alien came and put a hole through my skull. Absolutely merciless! And this is just Medium.

They really didn't think the noise detection through on this game. I ran into my first set of human enemies where you need to disable the generator to distract them and every single time, they would be alerted the moment I went in the room and attacked almost immediately. No matter what I did, or how quiet I was, they would hear me. I couldn't figure it out. Then I realized voice detection was on so when baldy was telling me about the genny, the Kinect was picking up his voice through my surround sound and in turn the enemies were picking up my noise. Needless to say the moment I disabled it, I walked right through that part.

Blame it on Microsoft! :wink1:

The checkpoint complaint is so, so dumb. Save stations are EVERYWHERE.

I have a surround headser and finally met the alien last night, heart was racing out of my chest I love this game.

Oh snaps. That's pretty badass. :lol

Thanks. I tried that and had mixed results; its very possible I was doing it wrong or that my aim was not as accurate as I imagined :p

As the target gets closer, the cross hairs shrink down; making your aim true. Just wait till they get closer.

What happens if you kill the alien?

You can't. I tried. I think it's been said in the demo too. Not sure.

Plus, Amanda is an engineer, not a soldier. I don't think they gave her amazing marksmanship skills (auto-aim assistance).

According to the loading screens, Ripley is a survivor. She'll do whatever it takes. But mostly, the bolt gun is a construction tool being improvised as a weapon.

Guy, I'm wondering, do your headset mics work in Isolation? I've seen YouTube vids with people laughing, talking, and whispering into their mics, and the Alien AI is able to pinpoint their location based on the sound. I'm not sure if it's true, though...
