Not feeling Ultra Magnus.. he looks like a box with legs and arms.

Just think they could have done better for bot mode.

So I reluctantly sold my MP-10 to help pay some bills we have amassed. I bought some revoltech figures to fill my Transformers void. They are very fun to pose but are just SO small. They look strange on the shelf. I never had any interest in the YOTD version of Prime but I decided to pull the trigger after reading that the gold paint could be removed to reveal the regular chrome beneath. YOTD Prime arrived today and.. I LOVE IT! I will probably buy a black gun off eBay but I'm not changing a thing as far as the gold paint. He looks like a slightly more sinister version of the Prime we all know and love.

.... is it wrong i want to see him posed holding his gun sideways becuase of all that "bling" ?

How hard is it to remove the gold?

I read that you can do it with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

that is correct, but you need to be gentle about it. too much pressure will take the chrome off as well as the transparent yellow.

i'm just not a fan of his buttflap. i wonder why they didn't design him to have it fold up and away into his backpack.

Whilst waiting for Days of Future Past to begin at the cinema I had the misfortune to see the trailer for Optimus and Bumblebee's Big Adventure With Marky Mark. In 3D no less.

I will say this much, the robot designs look a lot less like random bits of scrap metal stuck together this time round.

But they still look like s**t and if the Grimlock I saw in Forbidden Planet is any indication the toys are going to reach new depths of awful.

I agree about the new movie toys. I don't think any of them look that great. I really wanted to get some dinobots, but they just don't look like they are worth buying. The first movie had some great toys. After that they steadily went downhill with each movie.

it's the dudebros. They found the transformations too hard to manipulate and complete. you see, the kind of people who really enjoy those films are also REALLY big into Call of Duty, and so their hands are highly specialized for using game controllers. they get confused with the simple, deft manipulations of toys.

So all the dudebros complained at great length about how hard they were to transform, and it was so loud, that hasbro capitulated, and simplified the toys little by litte with each film.

I won't pretend that I even like Bayformers these days but I did dabble with some of the toys from the first couple of movies as at that point I was still rediscovering my intrest in the franchise and most importantly, the Masterpiece and 3rd party scene wasn't what it is now.

The one that stood out from the first movie line for me was Leader Class Brawl but my favorites were mostly from the ROTF Human Alliance line namely, Jazz, Bumblebee and the ***** twins ( I forget their names ).

Coincidentally that line was designed by Shogo Hasui who's played such a massive part in the rebooted Masterpiece line.

Since then it appears the movie toys have gotten much more simplistic which is supposedly a response to feedback from parents that the ROTF line in particular was full of toys that their kids couldn't transform.

Which is a fair enough point because it did seem like a lot of them were complex for the sake of being so, something like the Leader Class Optimus Prime was way too fiddly for the attention span of many adults, let alone the target market but it appears to me that they've gone too far the other way.

Not a problem for me, as with the rebooted Masterpiece line and 3rd party items like FT's Dinobots I'm getting the Transformers I've always wanted but for those that do like the movieverse the pickings are getting very slim.

I agree about Leader Class Brawl. He is one of my favorite movie toys. I also have Buster Optimus Prime from Takara which is nice too. Those are probably the two best Leader Class toys to come from the movies.

I want to get the 3rd party Dinobots but I've been spending my money on Hot Toys recently and haven't saved up anything extra for the Dinobots. I think they are all pretty amazing based on what I've seen of them. I guess Scoria is the only one I've really seen much about so far.

Okay, I'm not saying Hasbro rushed this new MP Grimlock, but he was upside down in the box, no instruction manual (thank goodness for his straightforward transformation), and his joints are hecka loose.

Still, I'm very happy to have picked him up for $80! :joy

I own the original Tak release and Has TRU release, but had to get this too. I like the box that TRU is making and the price is decent. I didn't get it for $59.99 or $79.99, but went the eBay route for $110 shipped. I'm located in Hawaii and TRU excludes us for free shipping now, it would cost additional $30 plus tax so around $115. So eBay would be the best option for me. The last I ordered from them was 2 MP Optimus Prime for $125 each and they did give me free shipping that time. Oh and I called my local TRU and their price will be $92.99 when they get it, but there is no Grimlock on their site to price match and with my luck I won't be able to see one because of the scalpers here that lines up and buy what they see.

The fact that you live in Hawaii is reason enough to envy you. God I love that place. Heavy mark ups on most things, but I wouldn't mind.
So worth it.

I think I got lucky with the price. I read over on TFW that people are finding him for $89.99. TRU is weird about increasing prices out of nowhere.

I also love these new boxes, much nicer than the plastic coffins they used to use.

Lol marked up food, gas, toys, bad traffic, etc. and lets not talk about the price of homes here. You would be surprised how much I bought my house for and the size of it. But yes I love it here.

Congrats on your score, possible the reason why they took it off their site. Maybe to see the average it is selling on eBay lol. I honestly thought this would of retail for $120 or so. I forgot how much I bought my original TRU release for, I don't think it was $59.99 or below, but I know it was below $100.
