Is it worth it for the bump in memory from 16 gigs to 32? I'm not sure what route to go, never owned an iphone

I was just thinking the same thing. I have 8GB of storage on my Blackberry and I think I MIGHT have 1GB of stuff total, stored on it over the past two years.

I can't imagine needing 32GB.

I always have lots of videos on my iPhone to let my kids watch while at the store, in line, at the dentist, etc.

Between music and movies, my existing 16GB iPhone is full--and it's the old model that doesn't record video. I preordered the 32GB because I want to have plenty of room for my media and also have space left over to play around with the HD video camera.

I stopped by my local AT&T store today to check on the status on my phone. They told me that even though things were crazy on the pre-order day that they are expecting everyone who pre-ordered from this particular store to be getting a phone on Thursday.

Tom - I THINK!!! you should be okay! I hope you get one!

I went with the 32. I plan on using this phone for everything. Pictures, video and all of that! I also have a blackberry and dont have 8 gigs filled up.

As for the allocations to people that pre-ordered on the 15th. I have heard that apple is pulling stock from other retailers in order to satisfy their and AT&Ts pre-order customers first. So this is good news if you pre-ordered from them. :rock

I hope everyone gets theirs! :duff

Yup. That's my what friend that works at Best Buy said. He ordered one from there with his "manager's discount" and now he tells me that he might not even get his.

Yep, I have even read on some apple boards that if you call AT&T and ask they are telling customers that anyone that pre-ordered on the 15th should have their phones come Thursday. :rock

The Apple shipping already shouldn't be a surprise since they are aiming for a 24th arrival. If they are shipping from CA for example they need to consider transit times and so to get to the East Coast they'd need to plan accordingly. With the 3GS, a buddy of mine had it shipped early and then Apple ordered UPS to hold it at their transit center until release date.

AT&T and Apple boned this one hard especially considering how much different and how much of an upgrade this phone really is they should have considered not only 3G and 3GS owners but even the 1G iPhone who were simply waiting it out. I'm glad that people are getting theirs but AT&T pulling for other retailers just to cover their own ***** really just continuing the trend of fantastic decision making by that company. If another company ever does get an iPhone I'll be jumping ship there.

A buddy of mine who works for Wal-Mart told me that an email went out to their mobile service that said allocations would be confirmed on Monday to what they would actually get. They didn't pre-order it but were going to sell on ship day and now they don't know how many if any they'll get on the 24th.

Oh AT&T buyers check this out:

Apparently people are still receiving these even though the charges for the iPhones are Pre-Auth'd on their CCs. Tomorrow is supposed to be the big day to clear everything up so fingers crossed.

Those letters are going out to the people that managed to pre-order double. Another internet rumor that has been squashed. As for AT&T pulling other retailers stock. I don't think you can blame them. Since they come from Apple it has been their decision and fair one. Think about it. People that pre-ordered from the other retailers haven't had to pay but $50 and in some places nothing. So I have no problem with them pulling those orders to fill the ones where people actually paid in full. That's why I didn't go to BestBuy or anywhere else. I went to the source. Only they can actually guarantee ship dates and stuff. The other retailers cannot.

As for jumping ship. I will hands down go back to Verizon any day. Far superior service over the rest. The only reason I'm leaving is the phone itself. I don't talk much on mine. Mostly texting and such. So it doesn't bother me, although it was a tough decision to leave just for a phone. If AT&T sucks I will be returning the phone within the 30 day period and gladly pay the restocking fee and pick up the new Droid when it's available.

Have you heard from bb on your phone at all?

Hope you get it, man. Unreal that they can cancel other stores preorders!

Apple didn't charge me anything until it went from preorder/wait list to shipped, and that was early this morning.

Thanks man. I got a call telling me that I'm 19th on the list and my wife is 20th but that's it. Monday my BB is going to call all who ordered and tell them based on their allocations and let them know when they'll get their phone. Possibilities are June 24th, June 27th or July 5th. I want the 24th but won't _____ too much if I have to wait until the 27th. I'll be beyond pissed if I have to wait until the 5th.
