All a strategy to hype the sales. I always wait for media reviews (eg. IGN, Rev3games, etc), and word-of-mouth opinions from people before buying something. And it's going to be even more so with GZ.

I rarely pre-order games anymore. In fact, this is the first MGS game, that I haven't pre-ordered, and don't plan on getting on release.

Yea the reviews play a big part of it I don't buy games at all now in this age of gaming it's not worth it .i haven't pre ordered it either I'll wait for the bashlash or praise this game gets.

The one thing that's concerning, is that Konami's PR has a notorious reputation of trying to muscle media outlets into censoring their reviews. They created a real stink about it with MGS 4's release (I've pasted the article link below). It'll be funny if they try to pull this stunt again - this time with GZ.

Well, EGM played it like a champ, and they gave it a very good review after. It was still a great game.

Yes, what they did sucked.

It was like a blatant slap on the face to reviewers, who've been in the industry long enough, to know how to review games. Most media outlets just bit the bullet and published their articles. But, it would have been nice if they followed EGM's example.

You know back when Kojim awas talking about this game being more like a TV show I was hoping it would be episodic so we would just get frequent small bites. But at $40 an episode I think we are better off with a full game release.

I would have no problem with this at all IF it was priced realistically and was periodically released like the Walking Dead chapters.
Kept the lust for more alive whilst leaving a feeling of being satisfied with the content.

BUT their unbiased review was still VERY good.

Idk, the first two chapters on mgs4 felt like heaven (gameplay wise) but dragged a little after that.

I did enjoy the hell out of it though. Working on platinum that ******.

Nanomachines, son! :exactly:

I'm pretty sure the nanomachines were responsible for that :lecture

Please refer to the above answer! :dunno

But, the nanomachines made him more awesomer than Snake in the end :)

MGS is the most perfectest series ever. Most of the fans say so - I read it on the Internet - so I believe it must be true.
I hope Kojima and his Kojibros burn from the most perfected of nanomachines :lecture
MGS4 didn't even seem like it was in the same universe as MGS2, like it was not connected to it whatsoever. Everything with the S3 plan was just ignored and was barely even acknowledged. It was never explained how humans even receive orders from the A.I.s at all which always bothered me. Sure it's probably them just manipulating digital information to enact their will, but it was never actually stated. MGS4 was very lazily written, and the whole Johnny & Meryl thing has got to be the most embarrassing moment I've ever seen in gaming. Johnny should of stayed a B level character that just made cameos.
And yet the fanboys still love it! God I hate them sometimes. I should tell you guys about my fanboy experiences with this franchise sometime

The game isn't 5 hours

It's 2 with extras

It’s 2 hours with an extra 3 hours of gameplay? Sounds like a 5 hour game. Funny thing is, none of the journalists who beat the game didn’t get a chance to play it on the hardest setting. I can beat MGSR on easy or normal in less than 3 hours.

I got 2 hours worth of playtime on my first playtrough of the Bioshock demo. I got 5 hours off the GRID demo and 2 hours off the demo for Battlefield: Bad Company. For all this I had to pay, oh wait, they're all FREE.

If the game is that good, (which I'm confident it will be), just charge us for the DLCs. I remember people were in an uproar over MGS2: Substance because they had to double dip. Konami knows all too well that us fans will buy anything slapped with the MGS name on it.

Not on your first playtrough you can't. The mission stats on MGR does not take into account the amount of time taken watching cutscenes, failed attempts and continues.

Thats true, and like I said before, it also costs 20 to 40 dollars more than GZ. Thats why I don’t get the uproar about this game. We are being given a decent amount of options on how much we want to pay. 20 dollars for this very fair in my opinion, so why don’t people just buy that version?

The game hasn’t been beaten on hard mode yet either, so we really don’t know how much time we will get out of this.

You forgot the best option of them all.
If you don't want it- guess what? You don't have to buy it! Isn't freedom great?

I personally love it.

Because GZ doesn't fall within the norms of what is generally accepted as the "normal" number of hours needed to beat a game (which MGR did), instead it falls within demo territory. It's like paying a ticket for a 20 minute movie. While such movies do exists, they often have to work hard to earn your money. Kojima is only putting his game under huge scrutiny with such unusual gameplay hours, something that he should have find ways to overcome during the game's development instead of padding it with sub missions.

Someone give Ryan a rep! :lecture
