I must be crazy, because I don't like either of these sculpts. I really tried to convince myself that I liked them when I first saw them, but I can't say it.

Chalk me up to insane as well. I let out a big chuckle at that ____-eating grin sculpt. Not for me. I'll buy the hat and jacket though to add to my Cannibal :rock

I love the smiling head, looks great!
But i cant see Depp in the serious face sculpt, his lips look really weird, like they are scrunched up to much or something....
Im sure hot toys will tweak it though...

I will say that if there is one thing I do not like about this figure, it is the alternate face thing. Now I can see how this might make someone optimistic that the price will be lower, but do you seriously think that the price will actually be lower? No matter what they include, I imagine it will always be at least two hundred dollars and then cap at three hundred though likely be 250. It could come with the fountain of youth and I think the price would probably stay around there. I would have liked two head sculpts especially if this comes with two outfits, though honestly I don't see why it needs to. His outfit is so elaborate that I feel like they should put their entire focus on making it as perfect as possible. Still it's a shame that while you use one, the other face will aways just be sitting in a box somewhere since you can't make use out of it otherwise.

As for the Enterbay one, I think discussion for that should try to stay in the Enterbay topic just because it's really hard, in my opinion, to seriously talk about it when seventy percent of the comments are random Hot Toys elitism, twenty are just stating that the Enterbay is better without any form of reasoning or discussion, and then the last ten attempt to actually spark an interesting comparison or conversation and it just gets shot down by the previous two groups. I really like the Enterbay one, but for different reasons than the Hot Toys one. I feel like they both capture him well though I hope the Enterbay one comes with another expression just in case.I feel like people are jumping on them too hard for the expression they used though. We haven't seen the movie. Who knows what pictures they used as reference. For all we know, the best scene in the movie may have him use that exact expression. Either way, it looks like Jack Sparrow. Maybe the expression isn't as iconic, but I didn't know the iconic expression for Thor was a blank stare or with the girl from Blade or with Jill etc.. Double standards much?

:goodpost: :exactly:

The mouth isn't right. I don't know if the corners are turned down too much, or if the lips are too pouty. The Enterbay one has a mouth problem too. Must be something about his mouth they can't get.

It's less that it isn't true to a likeness and more of a complaint about the expressions. For example, the photo of Depp as Sparrow in your sig is more of a passive look, whereas HT's prototype is more dour. I think both EB and HT's heads are great. But I'm so wary of EB's quality. Their base body isn't that great.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps guessing it'll cost $250. We hardly know what's included with it yet. The fact that it has two faces instead of two heads should make it cheaper. I would rather have two separate heads though. It'll be lame if they start doing this with more of their releases. Especially if the prices keep increasing. If there is also only one outfit, it would have to have one heck of a diorama to come close to $250. So far to me it should cost $175. I definately think it looks alot better than EB's, and I'll be buyin it regardless.

Because it is in the DX line. Why make it a DX if it isn't going to be significantly more expensive due to being a more elaborate product? It just seems silly to imagine that it will be $175, only a little more than a regular Hot Toys product. I have a feeling they might be going for a more accessory/diorama heavy release with this one. There's a lot of fun things you can do with a pirate after all.

if I remember correctly DX Joker, Batman (and MJ?) were in the $175-$180 range when released, so if he does come with less than Indy and BL, he may cost less. I think the main thing that drove up the Indy price was the extra diorama pieces like the idol stand

DX has now gone to $200, and this is a Disney license, so there might be a premium on top of that or inclusive to the price to make it sit around $200.

The Bruce Lee had a new body sculpt, two pers head sculpts, three outfits, two different diorama backgrounds for about 180 POed at AEs. If this is that much more that's ridiculous, but I'll get it anyways. If it comes with a ton of extras then I don't mind paying around $200. Hope to see some official pics soon.

I don't see this being less than $200, it's a hugely popular character and a license owned by a money whore, Disney. Disney is almost as bad, or maybe is as bad, as Lucasfilm properties, just being the Disney or LFL brand comes with higher prices.

I'm not sure if its been stated, but i wonder who the sculptor is? I'm going to take a guess and say its kojun...

On a sidenote, I dont like how hot toy's sculpted the hair.. its still TOO big.. im diggin both the face sculpts tho.

The only thing I'm dissappointed with is the caot being the wrong color, at least form what we've seen so far, still plenty of details to see if they've improved over the previous Jack's or not.

DX Bruce is around $180 to $200 with two suits and two head sculpt so lets wait for preorder price before we start assuming $250. Only DX Indy is over $200 and I think Lucas is greedier than Disney when it comes to lisences:cuckoo:

With figures moving past the $200 price point at every release they are pricing me out of the ballpark.

This is fantastic! Such an amazing likeness on both heads! This is definitely bought!
Ever since HT announced the DX line I've been saying that Jack Sparrow should get a DX release and hoping they would make it! This is gonna be my first DX figure! No way I'm passing up on this!!! :rock :rock :rock :rock :rock

Well, the Jack PF was a decent price (a LOT less than I expected it to be) so MAYBE Disney will give a break for the 1/6 versions?

But it's not so much Disney as what the maker chooses. Disney may not charge much but the maker may say, hey, it's a big brand, let's charger more. I think HT figure costs sometimes ammount to as much to do with popularity of a character and the license as the actual costs of delivering the figure and what it comes with. For example, T2 T-1000, 2 heads, elaborate costume parts and accessories, $165, T-800 from T1, basic figure, $195. While the T-800 does have a muscle body, I really think the price differnce between the two, seeing what comes in each box, has more to do with knowing T1 is a less produced property and knowing people were dying for a figure and would pay whatever they wanted to charger. I could see the same with Jack, knowing how popular it is, being a Disney charcter, I could see them charging as high as they think people will go. And since there's a good chance of EB's costing almost $300, HT could be $250 and still be the cheaper, bargain figure.

This is why I ended up letting the PF Jack go Ultimately, it's a great looking piece, but I get more joy out of 1/6 where the poses and costume are my choice and I knew a DX was likely with a new film, and would cost almost the same, saved that money for just this figure.
