I guess I'm just blind as hell. Wish I could be as happy as you all. Unless they do some serious tweaking on these, I'm gonna have to just stick with my PF. :monkey2

I think the PF is a great piece of Sparrow but not Depp. I don't see much Depp in the PF really. Both EB's and HT's sculpts look more like Depp than the PF IMO. But hey, if your happy with the PF then that's great :peace

I don't know Ween... I look at the HT DX then at your sig and I see the same exact face. :dunno

The EXM version looks like Depp while in the act of pooping.

The mouth isn't right. I don't know if the corners are turned down too much, or if the lips are too pouty. The Enterbay one has a mouth problem too. Must be something about his mouth they can't get.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I prefer Enterbay's sculpt. I'm not too crazy about HT's paintjob either - their Jack is too pale, sickly looking.
I'll wait for more pics from both companies before deciding which to buy.

As most already know, I wasn't completely happy with the PF either, but it looks better in hand and I got it for points.

Other than the mouth, I'd call this a total win.

Usually DX's come with two costumes minimum, so other than standard jack i cant think of other costumes, maybe something from the new film?

I'd like to see...

Compass
Sword
Jack the monkey
Aztec gold coins
Jar of sand
Sack/Bag (of coins)
Pistol
Map of worlds end

Cant think of anything else off the top of my head.

^^maybe with no extra costume, that will keep costs down?
Good sculpt but I think the EB one is a lot better.

And Adam's beats both

we know! :lol let's leave the Adam sculpt out, void! you're going to open a bag of worms with that kind of talk haha :wink1:

:peace :)

I'm hoping for a figure fight like with the Godfather figure between EB and HT.

The upper lip is a bit too pouty, for sure... Still, I see Depp and this is closer than the original releases IMO.

In one of the Hot Toys smirking headsculpt/face, there are too many wrinkly lines on the cheeks.. That probably makes it off, but the other facial expression more than makes up for it. :clap

I find it really hard to believe how much negative criticism this is getting. I mean it is obviously a mostly positive response, but this seems to have more slightly negative feedback than the Bruce Lee did. Sometimes, I wonder what people expect. I know this should look like the character as much as possible and it seriously does, but never forget that this figure they are releasing isn't made of skin and bones, because I seriously think some of these commentators must be assuming this is literally supposed to be Johnny's clone.

And what I love about the smiling sculpt is that it is one of the most sincere expressions I've ever seen in a 1/6th scale figure. It's a real human expression. Smiles are not simple. They aren't a perfect upside-down rainbow or anything along those lines and I feel like this really shows it. One side is higher than the other the teeth are done perfectly and the eyes and general wrinkles on the face all match the smile like they would with a real person. It's amazing. It also makes you smile just by seeing it. Now that's a smile.

^^Well said!

actually no, when Depp smiles he has about 3 wrinkles in the cheek

I have a pic I used for my main reference when trying to sculpt Depp that shows the same wrinkles. Mine isn't as good as this by any means, but I remember his facial feature quite well

I will say that if there is one thing I do not like about this figure, it is the alternate face thing. Now I can see how this might make someone optimistic that the price will be lower, but do you seriously think that the price will actually be lower? No matter what they include, I imagine it will always be at least two hundred dollars and then cap at three hundred though likely be 250. It could come with the fountain of youth and I think the price would probably stay around there. I would have liked two head sculpts especially if this comes with two outfits, though honestly I don't see why it needs to. His outfit is so elaborate that I feel like they should put their entire focus on making it as perfect as possible. Still it's a shame that while you use one, the other face will aways just be sitting in a box somewhere since you can't make use out of it otherwise.

As for the Enterbay one, I think discussion for that should try to stay in the Enterbay topic just because it's really hard, in my opinion, to seriously talk about it when seventy percent of the comments are random Hot Toys elitism, twenty are just stating that the Enterbay is better without any form of reasoning or discussion, and then the last ten attempt to actually spark an interesting comparison or conversation and it just gets shot down by the previous two groups. I really like the Enterbay one, but for different reasons than the Hot Toys one. I feel like they both capture him well though I hope the Enterbay one comes with another expression just in case.I feel like people are jumping on them too hard for the expression they used though. We haven't seen the movie. Who knows what pictures they used as reference. For all we know, the best scene in the movie may have him use that exact expression. Either way, it looks like Jack Sparrow. Maybe the expression isn't as iconic, but I didn't know the iconic expression for Thor was a blank stare or with the girl from Blade or with Jill etc.. Double standards much?

Of course it's not made of skin and bones, but a lot of us have seen what these compaines are capable of and always hope for the very best, especially when you're paying the amount of money that they want.

I would never complain about how many lines are here or there or that the colors are a bit off on a piece of clothing like some do, but if someone can't say they feel the sculpt is a bit off or needs tweaking without being chastised for it........then, you just end up with another rah rah HT fanboy thread.

As for the Bruce Lee figs. I think they're great. The Indy...not so much.
