It’s clearly hollow and must be the correct scale for a 1:6 Uruk Hai but it’s missing a chin strap so I say it’s intended as a prop.

I just wonder what difference it would make hearing that it’s a wearable helmet though? Who do you want to wear it? It’s wearable if you find a head that will fit inside it... so could be used for a custom but you’d still have to sculpt all the Uruk features. There is no Uruk Hai figure yet but, when they finally do come, a berserker will obviously include its own helmet so there will be no additional benefits to owning this one- but they may be plastic so I guess owning this could allow for a swap- but, again, it’s missing the chin strap so is less accurate.
Every other type of Uruk figure release would likely have sculpted or half n half hair so you’d have to modify those heads to make this helmet fit- unless they have magnetised hair like Theoden which would exist solely to allow for people who buy the Aragorn deluxe to put this helmet on the head- which makes no sense as Berserkers need their own weapons, outfit and blood-drenched and hand-stamped bodies so, no matter how you look at it, there would be a lot of custom work in order to produce a full Berserker. Having this helmet be wearable by, say Lurtz, accomplished very little unless a whole bunch of future releases start coming with items to help us put a Berserker together but we all know how well BAFs turn out from Asmus- plus they’d be missing a huge opportunity in selling to army-builders.

This just seems at best like a tease item for an eventual official Berserker.

Sadly there will never be a sculpt that will please everyone.
If 10 different people were mugged by the real Viggo Mortensen and sat down with the same police sketch artist to give a description...the sketch artist would produce 10 different sketches.
I may be wrong but I believe that the majority of potential buyers see this as an excellent likeness and as close as they can expect from any 1/6 scale version of the character.
Asmus will never be able to recreate what 1000 different collectors see in their minds when they think of Aragorn.

Absolutely - even tones of colour is subjective to the person viewing them. Perhaps not large variations but still differences.

I think getting a 95% match on Aragorn's likeness is more than enough, seeing as people are not 100% symmetrical in their features. This may be part of the reason why some likenesses are a bit more off than others.
Asmus is a great company that will take suggestions and do more with it to make the clients happy (i find) than most other companies out there.

If someone wants a 100% perfect Aragorn that they can continue to modify for months or years on end, maybe Asmus would be up for a few "ultimate collectors" to invest into some sort of super sculpt from a famous artist and after many trial and errors discuss them mass-producing the heads to use as a crown line Aragorn (king version)? Just thinking outside the box.
Also, Maybe having an artist use real hair for the beard would also bring it up in likeness?

I think everyone should wait and see how the figure looks in-hand instead of complaining.
First of all, they're running a business and while the goal is to make all their customer's satisfied, not all will be 100% pleased. They can't afford to spend years on one product without releasing anything else or they wouldn't exist.
Yes, we want the best quality because we love our collections and the films/books, and we want Asmus to get lots more credit and notice for their products but there is only so much they can do. Let's keep supporting them and continue to watch their product lines grow and give us more amazing things to collect.

We are lucky that we can indulge in new products that are being made based on the LOTR films that are going to be 20+ years old now (not incuding TH). To be honest, we are lucky we are still even here considering how the world is with covid and so many impacted.

I'm actually happy they are doing this figure. Missed out on their first release so getting this definitley important. Though I understand that the sculpt will never be 100% so I'm ok with it being 80-70%.

So is anyone planning on making his coat from Two Towers? Really feel like he needs it.
It came with the previous two Aragorn figures but it needs updating before they release it again ideally.

Yeah I missed out on both of those unfortunately, Crown Gandalf and this Aragorn will be my first 2 in the LOTR Line, although I may be getting Theoden to go with Aragorn here.

Hopefully they will do a Crown version of the classic Strider outfit with a real leather coat. The stitching on the seams would need doing by hand to do the proper baseball stitches required so it would definitely push the price up I'd imagine!

Hi Asmus,

I always love a display base! So thank you for that. Quick question: Will the steps and pillar be cast as all one piece? While I like the look of it, unfortunately it's just too tall to fit inside my display case. It would be fantastic if I could at least display a portion of it. (Like many collectors, I primarily use the Ikea Detolf shelving unit to display my collection and their shelves typically accommodate a height of 15 in/38 cm.)

I'm not saying it's bad, but - is this some kind downgrade? (IMO)
I would love to buy this old version. A long time now, I'm trying to find this old version... no luck yet.

I just don?t see how the Slim Aragorn looks better than Helms Deep one. The face looks like a bee victim.

Even reminds me of Helen Hunt for some reason lol.196EFA46-1CCE-4A7F-B21E-58049575F25E.jpeg

Thanks for the comparison.
I also prefer the old one.
Just showed the picture to my wife. She answered without hesitation "the right one".
The cheekbones were also correct there like I mentioned some pages ago.

Looks kinda like that in some ROTK shots but in TTT and FOTR his face is more gaunt: Fat faced 80CB0103-642A-444C-8AD1-84C18967C4B8.jpeg

The reworked head sculpt from Helms Deep Aragorn looks better than the original Helms Deep sculpt shown above but the likeness is still not as good as it should be. The original shown above makes him look Hispanic. Looks better in some pics though. I?m hoping they both look better in hand. I won?t say some of the vitriol they are getting is right but I understand it.

The staircase and pillar are separated, the pillar itself is also a two pieced item, using screws to lock them together.

So you can display:
1) Base(staircase) only
2) Base + bottom of pillar, about 13~14" tall
3) The whole thing, around 17-18 tall overall

Oh, that's great news! Very happy that I'll be able to display the stairs and half of the pillar. Thank you!

Excellent design. Options 1 and 2 will fit in a Detolf.
