I really hope Asmus gets their body problems sorted out soon. They're gonna completely deplete my stockpile of spare bodies. :impatient:

I'd prefer it looked closer to Seb's right out of the box, but for the price, I guess don't mind giving the armor a little dry brushing to get a little closer to the Master's version!

Just a question for those who have this in hand ... the lump strapped to his left shoulder is actually supposed to be his left shoulder not an armor piece. Is there a hole in his undersuit for that to poke through or is it just strapped onto the outside of his outfit?

Now THAT'S GOTHMOG!

Great work, Seb! Armor and undersuit look much more in keeping with the character. Hope this doesn't make me disappointed when it finally arrives stateside.

Here's the beast.
Asmus did a great job especially the paint on the face.

I darkened the suit to get more of a brown colour rather than the red santa.
I also repainted the full armour to get more details, it had a plastic look and wasn't painted at all.
Body has been swithced to a narrow shoulder tt. The body he is on is really limited in movement. Looks like an old Dragon body.

UNfirtunately you won't be able to put a fatsuit under the clothing and armor. The existing padded suit makes already the suit very thight on the body.

excellent work as usual......:clap
the whole figure look much much better after your repainted work,
just wanna know if this "old Dragon body" also have loose joint or not???
will u consider to change the body of this guy???

I already changed the body to a Narrow Shoulder true type.
The body he was one wasn't loose but the range of motion on the shoulder was almost non existant and the knees were really hard to bend, almost like Sidehsow rubber knees. It was really hard to get some natural pose out of this body.

Thanks!!!
btw, I use your method to change the witch king body, it;s look great and can have different pose for him now....:clap

OSB. He's got them in stock now

Very quick first impressions: Armour needs repainting as Seb said - it's just too plain and needs highlighting/weathering. There seems to be no rotation in the legs whatsoever, which sucks. Shoulders have limited range of movement. The paint on the Gondorian soldier accessory is ropey - bad colour and too think and gloopy, but easily remedied. Shame they didn't make the armour removeable so it could have been used as armour on another figure, but that would have been more costly to produce. Headsculpt and deformed hand are excellent, as is the quality of the costume and armour. All buckelled together so easily removed. Base is good. Weapons are fine, but again need a bit of a repaint to really shine. All in all it's a great figure from what I can tell. At least all the joints are really stiff - some are ratchet joints.

It's a shame that Asmus are having such a hard time finding suitable bodies. I imagine nearly everyone will be replacing the bodies, or at least modifying them in some way, on both this and the Witch King, so I don't know why they don't just get better bodies from the off. I know it's a matter of cost, but if we're going to have to buy another body anyway, we may as well just pay slightly more for the figure (I wouldn't mind that) and have it come with a decent body to start with. It's not as if TT-based bodies are hard to come by, or particularly pricey.

Thanks for the review. Good to have a reality check on this and know what to expect. I didn't end up replacing the body on WK because Asmus said they were supplying a new body with Gothmog. Now I need to get two bodies. A little aggravating... but I'm still very happy to have Witch-King and Gothmog made.

But my patience on replacing bodies will grow weary on Guritz and guys like that if this isn't addressed and resolved.

I do not have much of a problem with the Witch King as the pose I have him in looks spectacular. But I do agree on the body front. I am curious what they have going on for Gandalf.

I was able to get some pretty cool poses from WK on the standard body so I have kept him on it. I don't think mine suffered the same amount of looseness others had. Gothmog doesn't have to be too moveable for me but I am really hoping the bodies for Gandalf and Skully are up to par. Skully at $130 was a great price but if he is on a body that needs replacing that great price just dissapeared. I won't worry about it until he starts showing up and people have in hand reports though.

the corduroy onesie does need a bit of attention too. It looks a bit like pyjamas, but darken it a bit and add some dirt, it'll look grand. May have to sculpt something on the feet too - Asmus have attached what is essentially a very nicely sculpted piece of armour to what appears to be a thin rubbery modern dress shoe. You can't really see it when the figure is posed, but pick it up and the distinctly modern-looking heel and sole do look a bit incongruous. The headsculpt is really fantastic though, and the paintjob on it is easily on a par with HT, if not better (apart from the eye, which is still good).

This fella's got a considerable amount of heft to him, which makes standing him sans stand tricky due to the lack of leg rotation. I think this is where he falls down most (if you'll excuse the pun) - the shoulder articulation is poor but you can just about get him into a few decent poses, and the joints are good and stiff, but getting him to stand in a way that looks at all natural is nigh on impossible due to the lack of hip rotation

EDIT - after a good deal of wangling, there is a very small degree of rotation to be had in the legs. It's not enough though. Unless it's just my figure and not a universal problem, which might be the case
