however,
it is a pioneer method, we still like what it presents at the end.
it is as cloth to real hair texture there can be for short haired horse skin texture.
and for black horse and Nazgul steed which is mostly covered up,
it is still pretty good, IMP.

Asmus I thought you were going to remove more of the flocking on the "face" of the horse so that wound could show through and the face could be painted. I remember seeing a photo of it on Facebook when it came back from the factory and before the photo of it being shipped...
Anyways I reckon with some futzing of the mane, tail and cloth it will look pretty good!

I will admit the horse itself looks nice minus the wounds.. how are the joints and articulation? In your opinion BatSheva does the figure warrant the price and what rating would you give it? Also any pics of the Nazgul on the steed would be great if you can..:)

The joints and articulations are ok. I wish the horse neck can be raised up more, but with its range now, it's not bad. Well, with the price, I certainly hope they would deliver exactly like the promo pics. I mean, they don't have the wounds now, so they could at least do the weathering to the cloths and mane properly to make it up.

I would give it a 3 out of 5. The rugged mane and weathered clothes that's missing would certainly be a strong point for this devil steed, and those things are missing. If the eyes doesnt light up with the menacing evilish bright red glow, it will be just a regular stallion with armor.

And sorry, I'd love to take more pics, but with the tight deadline I'm not sure I can. There's plenty of comic pages to be finished!

To be fair, the horses in the movies weren't really that scary . 1418.jpg

I think we're used to the other statues and other representations. I think I`ll give mine some wounds , blood and hair more akin to the prototype and the sideshow 1/4 statue.

Yeah, but I still want to get the thing that was shown in the promo shot, which I paid for. And that is weathered/rugged mane and cloth.

True. Were any of the Nazgul steeds even black?

I was about to say that after looking at the pic too but the book is clear that the steeds are black and the movie sure tried to make them appear black so in my opinion that is what they should be. There is no need for a Han blue vs brown coat argument here.

I am excited to get this set, but I'll still customize it to my personal taste. I like that Asmus is gathering feedback and trying to improve. Good service.

I think it's great for Asmus to hear the concerns of buyers directly... like through this thread. Although each figure could be better here and there, the best part is we are getting figures.... Asmus I like what I'm hearing from you, and your commitment to your product like new heads and bodies at no extra cost to the buyer.... Keep going, don't stop and with each release you learn and get better.... I don't mind fussing a bit with a figure, as long as the figure is at least quality.. heck.. I fuss with all my figures before they end up in the display case...JUST KEEP GOING..and don't stop...:)

Great post. I whole-heartedly agree. Gotta allow for the learning curve. Great to have a company that doesn't just say, "Here's a pile of crap, take it or leave it."

I think they used different horses for different scenes. That particular one looks like an Andalusian or Friesian horse. I think its one of the larger breeds, to appear imposing in that particular scene , but I read somewhere that the horses used in the chase scenes by the Nazgul were Arabian or Morgan breeds.

So I guess, there's no point in being picky about that, since different horses were used for different scenes, and Arabian horses can be quite small

Got mine from them too, over $300aud after paying deposit. Is a bit of a hit to the old wallet for this piece.

Thankfully I have the cash in USD after a paypal sale a while back, so it won't sting as much. But I am wondering if that money could be better spent on something else. At this point I'm thinking I'll get it and do whatever I have to to get it looking good. Practising my noob skills on a $300 set though... sheesh.

Paying $300 to get your fingers dirty.. yeahh! :panic:
