Well aside from missing cuts, the horse itself looks nice, particularly the mouth and teeth. But the "clothing" doesn't look too hot.

Maybe a bit of over reaction on my part, but still... as you say, the weathering on the fabrics isn't crash hot either. I'm sure a creative touch will make it shine, but was it really that hard to apply in production? This just looks half baked. Asmus is selling figure sets, not model kits. I think.

Actually I like it! It's not exact by any means, but then again, it needs to represent 9 potentially different steeds. Maybe not all of them were bloodied;)

Admittedly the horse on its own isn't bad - I know flocking presents production challenges re: battle damage - but it really isn't dressed well either. Unrealistic expectations perhaps - I was hoping for something great and was always going to be find myself disappointed with anything less.

Hmmm.. thank you for taking some picsor your horse...... Not sure about this...was thinking of a more zombie like horse..it does have the light up eyes...I know I can mod it but I was hoping not too.... I'm sure from a production standpoint this makes sense.. it's a horse.. and the main body can be any color or style Asmus chooses...this generic horse will get them the mileage and as a horse it looks great.. but sad this was not a better Nazgul horse... Thanks for trying Asmus.

I wonder if there is a possibility that only the Nazgul/steed set has the cuts and the steed sold separately doesn't?

Is there anything like that written on the promo? if there's no such thing then it's not right at all to do so.
anyway, I just read the details on the promo, and the pics, there was no mention of wound marks, and in the final photo, there's no wounds either..

Just curious, are the chains, reins, mask easily removable?

I have no idea, never done that and had no intention to do it. Still a bit disappointed.

You're very welcome.
And yes, I was thinking the same way, that's what makes me want to but it at the first place, I want a zombie horse.
And please don't say "thanks for trying, Asmus". They should know that they have to deliver what they advertised. They teased us with the wounded horse sculpt, but then again, I checked and looked back on the promo pics, it looks like the wounds have all gone. It's just more wash here and there, and proper rugged and washed out clothes, and wild hair/mane, and there's no wounds at all.

Lookie here:

But still, in the end, the horse is different from the promo pics, even without wound marks.

Thank you for taking the time to take some pictures for us, batsheva.

I have to say it isn't as bad as I was fearing, but certainly not as good as I was hoping.

I see some of the chains around the hind quarters are hidden under the "cloak", so likely it will look better with those showing, and of course with a Nazgul riding.

Some additional weathering is clearly needed. I think the legs look fine, I think that mane and tail look Barbie-ish and I will be trimming and "mangling" that to look more "distressed". But additional weathering has been needed with every Asmus "villain" so far.

I think I'll keep my order.

Here you go, guys.. meet the smooth stallion:

Hmmm... yeah, not so sure about this any more. Seems like there would be a lot of work to get it up to snuff. Lots of weathering to be added. Making the pretty shiny pony mane and tail tall tangly and gross. I mean, that could be fun, too. And they have done a lot of work if one wants a horse for the Nazgul to ride on. Just trying to decide if I really NEED a horse for the Nazgul to ride on. Hmmm.

Thanks for all the info Batsheva :) I've got the set NRD'd... I was passing on Tyrion Lannister for this, but wondering if I should forego the NRD and switch my funds to the dwarf.

If the rider and steed look good together I'll keep it, but if the whole thing looks average I'd rather give up fifty bucks than throw down 250.

Looking back at the pics Asmus posted - there was one wound shown, on the muzzle. It's hard to tell from the inhand pic if that's there or not. But perhaps it was just assumed there would be other wounds? I didn't see any more on any of the pictures posted.

Yes, is that gash on the horse's face still there?

I found the pictures all very dark and really hard to see, but I don't think there looked to be any visible wounds with blood.

Maybe the dog can have a little play with it lol

Yeh, I think you're right. My mind was filling in the blanks :lol

There's none in mine, Dave. And yes, I think we're all assuming that there would be other wounds, perhaps it's because we saw the premium format steed, with wounds all over it.

I will admit the horse itself looks nice minus the wounds.. how are the joints and articulation? In your opinion BatSheva does the figure warrant the price and what rating would you give it? Also any pics of the Nazgul on the steed would be great if you can..:)

Yes,
we will abandon using flocking in our future horse,
it takes away the advantage of paint job,
in other words, you cannot really paint over flocking,
that is why we do use flocking in the white and brown horse,
and mostly like in any other horse in the future.
