Are you sure about IW? I assume some scene were filmed for Imax... But I am pretty sure it was 2:35 at my theater.
I figured it was like TDK.. Some scenes filmed for IMAX and others at the regular 2:35.1
Perhaps it used the Matted technique. Which is not as nice as a true anamorphic lenses. Perhaps that is how IW was filmed.
The Russos wanted IW to be the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX cameras instead of switching back and forth like TDK and some other MCU films. The 2.35:1 image shown in standard theaters provides no additional image on the sides despite being a wider ratio. Every frame is cropped and letterboxed which inexplicably was the ratio they chose for blu-ray and 4K despite everyone's TV being better suited to the IMAX formatting.
Well there you go.. Very Dumb not to use the correct aspect ratio. If the whole film was shot for IMAX then that is very frustrating. Especially since films shot in IMAX look great on Blu ray / 4K

That 2:39.1 aspect ratio ouch. Biggest superhero movie ever and it looks like someone did a quick crop in Photoshop.
