Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Now that the sting of this films treatment of Hulk has worn off, I need to give it another go and try my best to love it as caps story with an IM subplot... Perhaps I can fully geek out this time... still gotta get past that second act though.

I ponder why the comic-loving Russos would do the stuff they did - for characters getting TV series it makes an irritating kind of sense - drag a ready-made fan group to TV and also prevents over-saturation of characters.

But Thor and Hulk I wonder about. I dunno why - maybe they thought everyone had seen enough classic Thor and it's all a set up to have Thor on the road again - maybe it was a way to make the Hulk something "more" for a general audience. Took me a second view to appreciate - maybe - where the Russos were going.

Avengers 1 Hulk is my Hulk tho. Thor standing in the field. Maybe the Russos just didn't want to give us what we'd seen already. Sometimes that works, sometimes not. I did love the interchange between Banner and the Ancient One - awesome Tilda Swinton.

PS. Also tho why does everyone think there's only ONE alternate reality? Just 'coz we see the Ancient One show ONE alternate branch...there could be multiple alternate branches like Tony sez when you mess with time, it tends to mess back.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Yeah it’s pretty much like what Khev was saying which is that the emotional investment and thrills of the movie easily overcome any time travel mumbo-jumbo although part of me wishes that they didn’t even bother with time travel at all for their plot.

But infinity stones and quantum realm yo lol

At the end of the day it’s all good for me I fully embrace this ending because why.....

Because the MCU has EARNED IT THAT’S WHY and I might add Cap wielded Thor’s freaking hammer and said the magic words what’s not to love and embrace right!

Hell yeah man that says it all right there. The fact that the time stuff at the end apparently has a plausible enough backstory (minus the Tesseract cube to stone conundrum, lol) is just icing on the cake.

When Cap joins Peggy in the past, he created an alternate reality. I assume he did all of this BEFORE she met her husband, fell in love, and had children. The main timeline wouldn't change.
I will agree that the poor schmoe who now will not be Peggy's husband in this new reality probably ended up living a less fulfilling life. If my reality was that I had Peggy to come home to every night, I'd assume an alternate reality without that option would be nothing but a letdown.

Wait so it's not enough that the poor schmuck even gets to live in *either* timeline thanks to Cap (since it was Cap who saved him from the HYDRA blockade in the first place) but now Steve has to give him his woman too? Ungrateful bastard. Evil Alternate Peggy Husband confirmed, MCU ruined.

lol

Per an early draft of the script, the guy marries someone else and his progeny never amount to much. His last name is Banner, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

Holy crap, lol.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Here's an interview with the Russo's explaining Caps final moments in the movie and what it means.

https://ew.com/movies/2019/04/30/avengers-endgame-russo-brothers-captain-america/
That makes me feel a bit better. Even if there wasn't a clearly thought out plan, the Russo's are acknowledging the fact that, on its face, this contradicts what was told to the audience earlier in the film. So it wasn't total cluelessness. . .

Article makes it sound like it could be a Crisis on Infinite Earths-type issue. But if that were the case, things would be much messier, not with the new "reality" not looking 99.99% like the previous reality.

Maybe we'll see!

WAIT!!!!!

WAIT JUST ONE MINUTE!!!

Boy are we just a bunch of fools me being the worst one lol

This Cap ending we’re all trying to decipher and find the most logical answer for so that we find comfort knowing that the most important movie in the MCU wasn’t ruined by lazy writing well the obvious answer was always obvious we just let it escape us!

OK Russo’s you got us you got us good here we are trying to defend the movie from snobby film scholars when the answer was always right under our own freaking noses!

Hello what movie did we just watch right before EG!

That’s right CM!

What race of characters were just conveniently introduced into the MCU A MONTH AND A HALF BEFORE CAP’S CONFUSING ENDING?!?!?

That’s right......

SKRULLS! :slap

You JUST KNOW the Skrulls are involved especially since it involved Cap disappearing out of sight into another era!

Some geeks we are!

What...you didn’t think they would set up Phase 4 in EG yeah right!

Seriously what better way to sneak in the Skrulls than time travel.

Now I wonder if the Russo‘s were trying to throw our scent off by specifically having the Ancient One explain the timeline in the manner she did there was a purpose why the exposition was done that way I mean think about it they created their own unbroken timeline theory just for this movie.

The Skrulls easily solve any time line discrepancies.

:lol

I am not touching that one.. My mind hurts enough.. :lol

OK I will say what no one else will about EG and some of our fav hero's

Disney wanted to teach the Toxic males a lesson

Hulk - All that Toxic Rage - Cut those green balls off and Turn into a nerdy wussy who isn't even as cool as the Professor Hulk in the comics.

Thor - Thirst for Toxic revenge goes wrong... Turn into a fat drunk slob

Quill - All your Toxic Womanizing - Loose your girl.... Twice.

Iron Man - Possibly the most Toxic male - Die! You don't deserve a normal family.

Captain Marvel - Bragging that you are the strongest - Get knocked out by Thanos!,,, Oh wait a minute.

:lol :lol :lol

Well they did kill the longest running female Avenger.....

And left the most powerful one with a dead boyfriend....

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

But one chose to die and the other chose to kill her boyfriend (kinda) so their beautiful femininity was a selfless sacrifice :lol :lol

I kid about all of this.. I hope all are aware..

Except the fact that the main hero who led the armies against Thanos was a 1. White 2. Christian 3. American 4. Male meant that they were celebrating the four most hated things you can possibly be today. AEG most politically incorrect film of the year. :yess:

And I think they realized that 70% of the audience will be fat bearded white males so Thor equals "muh representation," lol.

With all the fan service that was in the film I seriously cant think of a single reason they would do Hulk and the Hulk fans dirty like they did.

As for Thor.. He really got his moment in the last film and when it comes down to it he Killed Thanos in this one..

I personally did not mind Thor in this.. My friends did but I was cool with it because he still looked cool at the end of the film and had some great looking moments with the lightning.

But man. Hulk.. Hulk was nowhere to be seen. Professor Hulk was not really in this movie either. It was just Banner big and green. Professor Hulk kicks some ass also and enjoys himself a bit while doing it. :(

Yeah but he wasn't Toxic.

Besides... What he did to poor Peggy's Alternate Husband to be....

They just did to Cap what they think of all
White, Christian, American, Males.... Made him Evil ;) ;) :lo

I gotta go see this movie again so I can stop picking on Cap :lol

Have to say I share your disappointment about Hulk. Did he engage Thanos at all during the final battle? Did we see him do anything? He was upstaged by just about everyone.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

That’s not Cap that’s a Skrull :lol

Fools all of you lol

Or maybe Cap is dancing with alternate reality Talos at the end of the movie. :lol Really, how difficult would it be to fool Steve? Peggy was the love of his life, you say? They never even went out on a date before he ended up on ice for 70 years! Heck, he kissed her niece as many times as he kissed her before Endgame. :lol
