Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

IIRC Thanos only had cream of the crop warriors in his armies, not begrudging slaves who followed him out of fear for their lives.

True, but I think the point was there may have been a few like Gamora - i.e., their moral compasses were not completely aligned with that of Thanos. After all, if his snap was as random & fair as he said, a lot of them were set to die too. But the Black Order? Yeah, they needed to go either way. Lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I know a lot of people are bummed that cap gave his shield to Sam instead of Bucky, but I think he made a good choice. Bucky was forced into that life and if you say the right words he can become a killing machine once more and being a killing machine in Caps uniform is not a good idea. Sam is a guy who puts on a pair of wings and goes out there to fight enemies that are superhuman. With the shield maybe he’ll have a better chance. I also believe that Professor Hulk will probably give him a physical upgrade too.

I have no issue with Sam getting the shield, but you’re wrong about Bucky. Shuri was successful in deprogramming him, so he’s not going to go full Winter Soldier again.

I don’t see the shield being important as far as actual protection for Falcon because he has his wings which do an amazing job I see it more of it being symbolic.

Besides nobody can throw the shield like Cap did.

On a side note Odin could’ve made Cap’s shield work like Thor’s hammer for Falcon lol

I like Steve giving the shield to Sam as more of a generational passing of the torch so to speak. Like Ben giving the saber to Luke or Bilbo giving Sting to Frodo. Sure Steve was aged but he and Bucky were still of the same generation and to me it wouldn't have had quite the same impact as a WWII soldier passing it to a 21st century soldier.

Plus Bucky is just hella cool with only his silver arm and an assault rifle, lol.

This may be old but I thought I'd share. I noticed Groot was missing - maybe Stallone?

That's not bad, but Nick Fury would have been white in the 90's, since black nick fury showed up in the 2000's. Stallone as Fury would be more probable. Also, I could see Kurt Russell as Cap America or Nick Fury, since he's already known for playing characters with an eye patch. I don't agree with Keanu as Dr. Strange. He would sound too dumb. Allan Rickman or Jeff Goldblum would be better and more accurate options. I can't see 90's Arnold as Drax either, because of his ego, but you never know. :lol Brad Pitt as Thor would be a good choice too.

Hmm I really never thought of it that way interesting and while I do love Buckys arm and weapon I did love it when he held the shield in TWS I thought that was a tease of the future to be quite honest.

It’s a real shame Bucky hasn’t been appropriately used since Civil War but what’s to complain there are two movies where he is a beast!

Nonetheless you have earned the Captain Kirk yes agreement nod lol

Lol at a-dev for reposting the JAWS pugs. How can you not actually feel a tinge of sadness for JAWS looking at the second one. :monkey2 :1-1: ;)

JAWS to make yourself feel better you might want to watch a few Game of Thrones reaction videos to the 8 year build up of the army of the dead and how disgusted many are that they went full "Last Jedi" in the most recent episode (even comparing the Night King with Snoke) without the guidance of George Martin's novels. Unless of course you are a GoT fan which means this might be one of the worst weeks of your life, lol.

You know I never liked Brubaker killing off Cap and giving the shield to Bucky so I'm fine with Bucky holding the shield on the train in TFA and then again in TWS as being little side references to the later comics (like Cap's "Hail HYDRA" line) without actually going down that road and making them canon in the films.

Yep Han Solo has SW/ESB and then did nothing in ROTJ.

Bucky had TWS/CW then did nothing in AEG.

And then of course Hulk who had TIH/TA (and I would argue Ragnarok since I really liked him in that too) before being sidelined like Han and Bucky. So he's in good company at least.

:lol :lol

Thank God I never invested in GoT. Even without knowing the full context of the last 8 years just seeing the comments I know I would have been among the pissed, lol.

Still have to catch AEG a second time on the big screen but honestly I've been happy just letting the memory of that epic first showing marinate a bit.

I took Keanu as Dr. Strange as a nod to the head scratching castings of him back then - Bram Stoker's Dracula, Much Ado About Nothing, The Devil's Advocate to name a few. He was woefully out of his element in some of his '90s roles. Brad Pitt as Thor - didn't we see that when he played Achilles in Troy? As for Arnold as Drax, just put some raised tattoos on his Mr. Freeze and you're there. :lol

Have never watched a single GOT episode. :yess:

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

It was a highly divisive episode. Some absolutely loved it, some absolutely hated it. I'm in the middle. I understand many of the criticisms, it definitely could have been better but it hasn't ruined the entire show for me, I'm still eagerly anticipating the final 3.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I'm revisiting these posts to ask a question: Did anyone else have a fleeting feeling of disappointment when they realized that the long anticipated Quantum Realm time travel solution was indeed how they were going to get the stones? While the Time Heist fan service was quite enjoyable, going in I was hoping the spy photos of characters in their A1 suits on set and the inclusion of Scott and the white suits in the trailers were all part of an elaborate diversion/counter-spoiler campaign. I guess I just wanted them to really surprise us with their solution.

With respect to the Time Heist: I keep wondering about 2012 and The Ancient One's presence in New York, as in why was she even there and why is she lugging around the Eye of Agamotto? In Dr. Strange (which granted, is 4 years in the future) there was a different guardian of the New York sanctum, and the Eye was kept at Kamar-Taj. I suppose we're supposed to assume that The Ancient One saw the threat in New York and took an express portal there to help, but you'd think we'd see at least one more sorcerer fighting by her side. And maybe this was the event that convinced her to not carry the Eye around all the time. Still, seems like a bit of dumb luck that the Time Stone was there at all.

I was disappointed before seeing the film, because we knew it had to be time travel of some sort. (I said as much ages back)

Over time I resigned myself to that story, and that was that. I mean what else was really possible?
