Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I just finished watching IW again. Watching it again, I almost kind of wish that before Dr. Strange turned to dust and said “Tony, there was no other way,” that instead he simply held up a single finger gesture of “one time” without saying anything. I mean there’s nothing wrong with what is, but that would have been great also.

It also could have served as his motivation in EG in addition to seeing Peter Parker’s picture.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Steve separating the Red Skull from the Tesseract, loses Peggy. Cap returns Soul Stone to the Red Skull, gains Peggy. :panic:

So is Cap now your all time favorite cinematic hero? Not superhero, film hero. He's been in 11 films, his own trilogy and the Avengers series.

I don't know who your favorite movie hero is or was, Luke, Han...Indy? They all fall short of Cap now.

OT Luke, SW/ESB Han, then MCU Cap.

Cap's pedigree of films in the MCU as far as consistent quality is absolutely unmatched as you say though.

The #1 pinnacle in movie audience euphoria to me is still Han coming to Luke's rescue and then Luke blasting the DS in SW but right below that is Cap wielding Mjolnier *and* "Avengers Assemble. So Luke and Han share #1 but Cap holds *both* #2 and #3. And I can say that without reservation.

But for sheer quantity of awesome across multiple films he definitely now reigns supreme IMO. The fact that his arc peaks during his final film featuring his most epic battle is just icing on the cake.

It sounds to me like the only reason they're above Cap is because you saw them when you were a child. That and nostalgia, seems to be why Cap is third. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I wonder if you would feel the same way if the MCU films as they exist today had come out at the same time as OT SW when you were a kid. I wonder how you would view OT Luke and Cap. Something tells me you would grow up to be Phil Coulson :lol

At Celebration 2012 I had Hamill sign an 8x10 of my favorite vintage trading card. :lol :lol

So yeah pretty much full Coulson, lol.

We are tied to the things we loved in our youth aren't we. I mean for me there's SW, LOTR, and Cap which all existed in one form or another in the late 70's and imprinted on me in different ways, SW the film phenomenon obviously having the greatest impact. But what if the LOTR films and IW/AEG came out the same year as SW? Or the same year as your favorite childhood films. Makes you wonder.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Disney must be pondering why they built SW and Avatar lands instead of MCU right about now. :lol

I was at HK Disneyland a few weeks ago and they converted a large part of Tomorrowland/Star Wars into the Stark Expo. They currently have 2 MCU rides there, IM replaced Star Tours and Ant Man and the Wasp replaced that Buzz Lightyear ride.

The IM ride was just ok and the Ant Man and The Wasp was pretty boring.

Speaking of Ant Man and the Wasp, I just rewatched it last night back to back with IW and it held up pretty well. It was actually better than I remembered.

Yeah, it already showed the radiation rapidly coursing up his arm even before doing the snap. What baffled me though was how effortlessly he was able to do the snap despite this, whereas Hulk seemed like he really had to fight through the energy just to be able to bring his fingers together to snap them.

My thoughts here are the same way third-degree burn patients don't feel pain. Their pain receptors have all been fried so there is nothing to send pain signals to the brain. My thought was that Stark was sufficiently fried to lose all bodily sensation. He was struggling to say "I am Iron Man" too.

Yes, it kind of sucks getting older because new stuff doesn't seem to have the same kind of impact. I can enjoy it, even be a big fan of it, but nostalgia seem to always win. :gah:

I've also become less open minded and resistant to change, unlike when I was a kid. For example, one of my favorite video games growing up was the Mortal Kombat trilogy. I had no problem with characters changing or evolving then. Now in 2019, there's MK 11, maybe the best MK game ever, and all I want is the classic costumes the main characters used to wear.

The last thing to truly have an impact on me was the Nolan Bat films, and I wasn't even a kid. That's rare for me. Batflleck didn't. IW and EG, along with the Cap trilogy and Avengers 1 have made me a bigger fan of those characters though. Prior to the MCU, Cap and IM weren't in my top ten comics heroes list. Now, they're only behind Batman, Superman, Hulk, Spiderman, and Wolverine. That's quite the jump. :lol

As much as I love RDJ being born to play Stark and his contributions to the MCU are immense and immeasurable I think Cap’s steady moral compass along with him being in all of the solid MCU entries, yes that includes his role in AOU, and then being given quite an epic finale has in a way overshadowed Stark’s death.

It has not overshadowed RDJ’s earnings though lol

His contract includes EG performance % kick back :google

I think that's brought about by Cap's arc being closely tied to Stark's arc. The two have been contrasting characters from the start and their growth through the films have been directly influenced by the other.

Russo’s still giving plenty of interviews those cats don’t stop do they lol

They said they constantly thought about the emotional capital built up in the series hoping they could keep that protected with momentum which took a herculean effort behind the scenes to pull off.

I can only imagine.

I mean LOTR seemed herculean at the time can you imagine overseeing 22 movies!

I think this is true for ALOT of SW fans. Much of the fandom is based on childhood memories and brainwashing.

Christ it continues:

Stark talking to his helmet (at Pepper) in space the helmet is burned and scarred on the same side as his lethal injury!

Now some are already saying when Stark passed out on the ship and saw the light from CM (an angel) waking him up it was foreshadowing his passage into the afterlife, doh!

Stark also mirrored his fathers video message from IM2.

Remember IW when Drax was comparing fat Quill to in great shape Thor well the reverse happened in EG!

Stark started as a selfish person and ended with a selfless act.

Cap started as a selfless person and ended with enlightened self interest.

Amazing stuff.

Hold me Clown.......or Sass lol

Shazam fan # 1: “Hey did you hear EG didn’t beat Avatar it fell a whopping 100 million short!”

Shazam fan # 2: “Dude I told you that EG was going to be a failure!”

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I will say this all that poetry stuff didn’t help the PT any that’s for certain.

You need a strong solid foundation first something the MCU obviously had so the call backs and mirror scenes are just cool to have on top of the already existing healthy narrative structure.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Far from home trailer dropped with endgame spoilers, turns out they did mess up the timelines and created another earth multiverse, this is how the bring in mutants in i think

Whether or not there's actually a multiverse is still up for debate, given that Mysterio is a big far liar.

They kind if make it hard to believe whenever fury is telling that to spiderman, though or is Mysterio from Earth 616?

Tony died a hero, a martyr and now we see murals and his legacy in the new Spidey trailer. Cap, chose ****s, retired at age 37 after taking a 75 year nap.
