Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Just watched Adam Savage's podcast on Tested and they brought up a pretty good callback on how Stark mirrors Thanos.

Stark's funeral was him resting on a grateful universe after his work is done.

The more I think about EG, the more I like it.

Forget about the island, I never got on the boat. :lol

Indeed.

I watched the first season or two of the cartoon. I remember liking the first episode very much, and thinking that it could make a good live action movie. I don't know if the episode still holds up, maybe it never did, and I just liked it because it was colorful. Anyway, here's the first full episode if you're interested. It's less than 20 minutes.

edit

Never mind, it didn't age well.

I actually watched that. I'm sure it holds up very well....for its target demographic of age 5 :dunno :lol

If I remember correctly Loki took on Cap in Avengers somewhat effortlessly so yeah no way in hell was Cap defeating Thanos in hand to hand combat and I love that the movies don’t shy away from that hard reality.

Yep, thinking back to TKDR and how Bane crushed Bruce but then at the end of the movie all Bruce had to do was tap his little mask thingies to take him out? Not so with Thanos. Not even lightning powered Cap cut put a scratch on him! But Steve did get that epic final staredown with Thanos once Thanos realized that he was about to become ash.

I was so invested in these characters that it hit me in the feels just seeing Nebula win that paper football game with Tony. Her whole life had been defined by competitions that she had forever lost to Gamora and when Tony told her she won it was like she was trying to process that feeling for the first time in her life.

It's easy to forget how strong Loki is or was back then because he always gets beat up by stronger characters. Also, did he make himself look bigger? It looked like he got smaller when he gets rid of the armor.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

It's a bit of a mystery how or why Rambo 2 became so big in the 80's. The only movie that made more money that year was BTTF. It must have been shocking that an R rated, B level one man army action movie could make that much money. Maybe it was Stallone's popularity, or the iconography of the film and character that made it stand out so much from everything else.My guess, it was because the first film was so good, but part 2 went in a very different. By today's standards, I don't think part 2 is over the top or cartoonish, not when compared to the Fast and Furious movies or John Wick. Rambo 3 is a better looking film and larger in scale than any of the Rambo films, but I'm not a big fan of it either. I do love his intro tho. Rambo 4 was everything I want it to be, and didn't disappoint me. I'm skeptical about part 5 tho, because he doesn't really look like the character anymore, so I don't like that, but it might be a small violent film. Hopefully it's good.

The original did well in the theaters but was not Huge... But it got a following on home video and movie channels.

In 1985 there was a enormous Patriotic Pro America thing going on. The fact that Rambo was going to get revenge for the one war we lost and take on the Russian... Man it
was just Red White and Blue, Pro America porn :lol
People ate it up. President
Ronald Reagan loved the movie. It was the first film to do the 80's one man army thing. Nobody thought of it as over the top... Well accept my mom.. She thought the movie was goofy and a bit unrealistic.. Bah! What did that communist know???

Rambo became a cultural phenom.

Funny thing with Rambo III. It was just three short years later but it things had changed. People were frustrated and the Pro America thing was not in fashion..

The Rambo III trailer actually got Booed at the theater I say it in.. I was still excited.. Never got the chance to see it in the theater though.

As for the new Rambo.. I am fine with his look... He is an Old man now.. He shouldn't look the same... If the film is done right it could be an excellent closing chapter. I really liked Rambo IV... SO if this one sucks I will ignore it :)

It actually got beat by Pikachu for Friday and underperforming expections for this weekend by a few million not much but still lower than projections but it will still win the weekend that being said the 3 hour run time is hurting its chances at catching up to Avatar I still don’t think it will.

Isn't Avatar 3 hours??

Shhhh Clown is in our presence go easy on that Nolan blood money movie.

Yup good stuff.

I love it that Cap took on Thor’s kingship, pride and honor while in Thor’s presence which finally brought Thor full circle on his new path of being who he was and not what he was supposed to be. Another great gift, this time it was wisdom, that time travel bestowed onto the individual Avengers.

Great interview about the future of the mcu, the whole multiverse, and how McFeely and Markus are obsessed with house of m and secret wars

Still a goosebump scene for me.

So many Goosebumps scenes in that film.

I still love the shot of Cap and Iron Man standing together.. There it was.. The first time we got to see two of our Hero's in the same frame.. It still looks cool.. Except for that damn Cowl :lol
