Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Really, can you tell me more? Like which scenes had people going crazy? :)

Stabbing the pirate on the boat
Jumping off the Pirate Boat.
"Murdock.. I'M coming to get you" line and his escape was HUGE. People were going nuts after that they just kept clapping.
Rambo blowing up the guy with his Arrow.
Blowing up the Chopper with the bazooka.

People roared when Trautman Let Rambo by to go get Murdock.

Nothing like Rambo II in the 80's

You a big Rambo fan Clown?

:lol I deleted that post because I did not realize you were talking about the audience reaction theatrical experience. I was just posting my own. :lol

JAWS and Rambo II were the best Audience reactions I have ever been in.. See above.

And I agree about G98 and what it should have been.

That’s ok I cheered and fist pumped during it that’s all that matters here lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

It actually got beat by Pikachu for Friday and underperforming expections for this weekend by a few million not much but still lower than projections but it will still win the weekend that being said the 3 hour run time is hurting its chances at catching up to Avatar I still don’t think it will.

Am I? My only regret in life is not being born a few years earlier to watch Rambo II in theaters. :lol Grew up watching it on video, watching the Force of Freedom cartoon, playing with the Coleco Rambo toys. Yes, you can say I'm a fan. :lol I like Rocky too, but Rambo was my favorite. :)

I'm surprised that they didn't cheer when Rambo uses the helicopter to blow everything up and he screams while Jerry Goldsmith score and theme plays.

They might have.. Those were the moments that really stick out for me..

It was a special experience for sure. I was the perfect age for this film (14) and It was at the time easily my fav movie. More then JAWS more then Star Wars. It passed them all for a brief period of time. I was nuts for it. Had Rambo II posters all over my wall.

I still love the First film and its one of my all time favs. 3rd greatest action movie of all time behind Die Hard and Raiders.

Rambo II has not aged well for me and never was a fan of III. I did like Rambo though and I am excited for the new film.

It's a bit of a mystery how or why Rambo 2 became so big in the 80's. The only movie that made more money that year was BTTF. It must have been shocking that an R rated, B level one man army action movie could make that much money. Maybe it was Stallone's popularity, or the iconography of the film and character that made it stand out so much from everything else.My guess, it was because the first film was so good, but part 2 went in a very different. By today's standards, I don't think part 2 is over the top or cartoonish, not when compared to the Fast and Furious movies or John Wick. Rambo 3 is a better looking film and larger in scale than any of the Rambo films, but I'm not a big fan of it either. I do love his intro tho. Rambo 4 was everything I want it to be, and didn't disappoint me. I'm skeptical about part 5 tho, because he doesn't really look like the character anymore, so I don't like that, but it might be a small violent film. Hopefully it's good.

This Pokemon thing, I've never quite got that. It 'left me on the Island eating my own flesh' as Bill Hicks might have said.

I watched the first season or two of the cartoon. I remember liking the first episode very much, and thinking that it could make a good live action movie. I don't know if the episode still holds up, maybe it never did, and I just liked it because it was colorful. Anyway, here's the first full episode if you're interested. It's less than 20 minutes.

edit

Never mind, it didn't age well.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

the 3 hour run time is hurting its chances at catching up to Avatar I still don’t think it will.

Yeah I think summer competition plus the three hours will prove to be too much of a hurdle. So glad they didn't trim the movie to squeeze more showings though. Watching the Tokyo HE scene a second time made me realize just how much the studio let the Russos breathe with establishing how so many of them had coped with Thanos' victory. I could also see how the improvised quest to 1970 could have been vetoed in favor of a shorter run time since all they would have had to do is just not have them lose the tesseract in 2012.

So glad it has the length it does.

Also an interesting thing about 1970 is that it kind of implied with Steve's picture on Peggy's desk that she was still single 25 years after he went into the ice and assumedly married pretty late in life.

That too could have played into his decision to go back for her if he realized she'd been lonely that many years.

Forbes still has it on track to unseat Avatar. According to them, it should pass 2.5B worldwide by the end of the weekend and it'll pass Avatar by next week if it doesn't fall abnormally.

Hulks healing factor heals. :) :lol
Yeah I know that, and I wish he had his healing factor here heal him, but slowly (to convey the extent of the damage). The directors and writers disagree though, as they state that the damage was permanent as far as they were concerned.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

So Grace was right, it won't beat Avatar? You all doubt it her wisdom.

Yep, lol.

In other news AEG writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely side with me in saying that Steve didn't erase anybody and that Peggy's kids were always his too:

Perhaps the most hotly debated Endgame plot point is the fate of Captain America, who travels back in time to live out his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier established that Peggy had a husband and two kids, and some fans have theorized that Steve Rogers secretly was this husband all along. Others have stated that Steve created an alternate timeline when he went back to live with Peggy, and somehow got back to the mainline MCU as an old man.

Markus and McFeely accept that different people will have different viewpoints on this topic. But, in their minds, Steve was Peggy's husband all along.

"It was always our intention that he was the father of those two children. But again, there are time travel loopholes for that," said McFeely.

:yess: :woo

They also say that the only reason that Cap held Thanos' glove open for as long as he did in Wakanda was due to Thanos being surprised and impressed that someone of Steve's stature would even try.
