Well, they've been building Thanos up over the last few movies. I'm sure a lot of people don't even know who Steppenwolf is, and at the end of the JL movie, he'll be forgotten, just another generic villian with a horde of CGI cronies. Marvel has been doing it right, DC is rushing it just to play catch up.

Srsly Marvel KNEW it would get leaked from SDCC AND they've handed out posters AND the main cast has been known for a while AND IMO as described IMO this teaser does just that - tease - AND it's not a spoiler for BP and Thor 'coz no real details (if anything just makes me want to see those movies more) AND the teaser is all around the world at this point.

Or maybe that's the point - hype for free?

The only hype they are building is among us fanboys and geeks, I doubt the general public care as much till the movie comes out.

Don't think anyone outside of the comic collecting world knows or is anticipating Thanos anymore than Step-on-wolf.

And its a good bet Thanos blurs into the Ronin/Malekith baddies who are quickly forgotten.

I think the only way the average movie goers remember a villain is if a major star plays it. People will remember Hela because of Cate Blanchett.

I know a ton more people in my circle of life who could care less about SW/MCU/DC movies than I do who care about them.

Most people I know only care about making money, their kids activities and working out to look good.

There is that...tho think Marvel is being smart w. its release schedule - Thor in November, people shopping and getting in spending mood; BP will get a lot of attention and lead to IW; IW release in peak movie season...Marvel is gonna make stratospheric profits$$$$. I wish I could buy Disney stock.
