Maybe Secret Wars begins Dr Doom's rise... and, after a number of one-offs in-between, then Doomsday is the Finale...? Is this the MCU's attempt at another but smaller 'story arc'?

Nah that’s secret invasion. Secret wars is something else. I’m not sure how are why they are going to tie those two together.

I think it's a wise choice. I can easily imagine that preparing for those serious Oscar wannabe dramas requires ALOT of time and dedication. He probably just considers this an obscenely well-paid vacation...

Thank the maker we are in the timeline where Kang is not the villain of the next two avengers movies. RDJ can't be worse than that and if Doom is a Stark variant then it can add real drama to the story.
