It was tragic, at least she was remotely some eye candy, the only saving grace of the human cast. I don't know if anyone knows, but the Sheriff had a bit role as Carlito's cousin in Carlito's Way, that's the only thing I've ever seen him in, gotta love the nobody casting.

NO WAY DUDE i couldnt wait for that whole revenge of the nerds/varsity blues jock **** to be over that crap has no place in this movie

Whats a blonde bimbo throwing the cooch at everyone got to with AVP lol

When that skeezer got stappled i was like " good ****, thank god" lol, maybe im a bit harsh but i wanted to cut the bull**** and get straight to the story that matter you know what i mean

I admit that it doesn't belong in this type of film for sure, I'm only saying it's a consilation that if that's the route they're going to go with the human characters, at least you get something to oggle for a while. Frankly, I rooted for everyone but Dallas to die, and man did it piss me off that they named a character Dallas, STOP THAT. There is no need to tie every past name into these films for crying out ****ing loud.

LOL yeah i get what you mean bro.

The Sheriff wishes he got on the APC when he heard the whistle of the Bomb coming lol

Between bad writing and poor actors, the humans just aren't anything to care about, and perhaps since it's A v P, you're not meant to care that much, but when you have to watch them for 75% of the movie, it'd be nice to enjoy those human moments. Hell, Danny Glover doesn't strike me as a genre actor, but I find you really get invested in his character and motivations in P2.

Yeah he was awesome in P2 he was all jacked with rage untill he found out what he was up against then he just hit the bolt man lol

That's the main thing that made the original films in these series work, you had cool creatures and strange worlds, but the human factor was also enjoyable. Alien, all those workers were written entertaining and engaging and you were pulled in, Aliens, the marines ran a wide range of personas that all entertained and made it fun to go on the journey with them, and even Alien 3 you were drawn in by some of the eccentric prisoners as well as Ripley, and Resurrection sucked because the human characters were no longer engaging they were just fodder. P1, Dutch's crew was great like the colonial marines, lots of personalities and all entertaining and you became invested in what was going on with them, Danny glover in P2, his character and some of his supporting cast drew you in and made you care what was going on, but in AVP and AVPR, the humans are just there and because of that, it makes you not want them there at all.

MaulFan I agree with what you are saying to a point. Don't forget most of us were very young when those movies came out. I think that has a big part in it as well. I loved Robocop, Predator, and Aliens. Probably my 3 top movies as a 9 year old child. If I watched them today never having seen them as a child I don't think I would hold them in the same regard. I think people need to think about that. They would enjoy this movie more.

I never saw these movies til about 10 years ago, I was a teenager and I'm only 24 now, so it has nothing to do with nostalgia. To recognize now the effectiveness of characters in the films requires adult intelect, but for the film to work even for children it helps lots to have good human characters. People may enjoy these films, but I'll be no one is walking away from AVP or AVPR with favorite human characters, and plenty of people have favorites of the humans in the original films.

What the hell was with the Asian lady at the end seeing the weaponary? "Its not for this world..." WTF?

Dude, you missed what might have been one of the better references to the original films if you didn't get that one. He called her "Ms. Yutani", who is obviously of Weyland-Yutani, the corporation that eventually begins the colonization program that Ripley & Co. work for in the original ALIEN.

So evidently now that Weyland is dead Yutani now has the Predator technology lol

Anyone besides me think they are intertwining these 2 species ABIT TOO MUCH?

I actually found it to be the worst reference of them all, they're trying way to hard to tie these movies to the originals, they should cut the cord and keep AVP storylines a separate beast.

Honestly, MaulFan. It does. I know I can't speak for you but come on. We all laugh at the Arnoldisms. Get to tha choppa. Coman Dillion! It is a joke looking back. Those movies are still cool as hell in my book because they remind me of being young and had cool monsters. Those movies required zero adult intelect to watch. Zero, just read the reviews of those films. Again I enjoy them and love them. They just wouldn't be the same if I was new to them today.

next thing you know, they'll found a way to tie the Terminator franchise to those..

Nah, it's all in good fun. The flicks aren't even worth getting upset over, imho.

Throw in ROBOCOP while you're at it. :lol

I guess each viewer watches everything with a different perspective. If I saw Aliens for the first time today, I'd still think Hicks was a great character and love what he brought to that movie, I've always been and Arnold film and to me Predator would be just another good movie.

I think you're missing the main point which is that the human characters in the AVP series are just uninteresting, I think even the most basic minded viewer would get no joy out of their part in these movies, and yet their screen time is great. If you surveyed teenage viewiers about their favorite humans, I bet 75% would say the blonde chick cuz she got down to her underwear, other than that I bet they'd care less. If you showed the same people the older films for the first time, I bet a good ammount of them would have human characters they took a liking to.

I agree, they are what they have been. B movie action flicks. The only exception is Alien and Aliens IMO. Everything else Predator or Aliens for that matter is hardly a great movie. I love them though. I am just saying they are anything but great.

I know, and that's why overall I still enjoyed watching it, but I can't help seeing things that make me feel like they didn't try to just make a fun movie, because if that's the case hire Michael Bay and he'll give you a good mindless action film, but that they just don't give these films much effort or care and it makes me think of what they could be if someone would just really pour some resources and talent into it.

Maul again you can't be a movie critic and say that Beihn is a great actor or Arnold for that matter. I am done. We both see it a different way. That is what makes this board cool.

I think you're just missing what I'm getting at though. I am not saying Aliens or Terminator or Predator were or ever could be oscar films. In the giant body of films that are Hollywood, they're just mindless thrill flicks mainly geared at young men.

What I'm getting at is if you take the body of Alien 1-4, P 1-2 and AVP 1-2, Alien, Aliens, Predator and Predator 2 are top not films within this body, and A3-AVPR lost what was really good about the first few films. I'm not looking for Oscar films, I'm looking for films that are AS good as their earlier predecessors, that's all.
