I'm a former sneakerhead myself, but this is just too crazy:lol But I'm sure alot of High Schooler's would kill for a display like this though

People collect shoes? Why? Now if those shoes had famous people's feet inside them it would bump that display up a notch in my book!

There are people in this world who ask the same question about people who collect figures or statues.

I think the difference, at least in my mind, is that shoes have a primary purpose which is to be worn, not displayed on a shelf. Figures and statues have no other purpose than to be displayed, unless you count them as paperweights.

But that's just in your mind (or even mine). People who are not into collectibles might think those figures and statues are for children, not for a grown man with $$$

I have no doubt that people can find our collectibles silly, as my wife reminds me of that all of the time. However, to cut to the chase, my point was that shoes are for feet and statues are for shelves. I can see how people can collect and display shoes. I'm sure there are people out there who collect and display much more peculiar things.

Coins are meant to be used, and stamps as well. what about those? Some rich mofos even collect cars. Your reasoning is kind of ignorant.

I'm debating whether to get this or not. I have some store credit at BBTS to use.

This may well be true, and I am sure a good amount of the population finds my collection silly and pointless. There are, however, a large number of online boards/forums where people go specifically to discuss what I collect. Further more my collection can be appreciated for the artistic apptitude required to sculpt the intricasies that are Marvel characters.

I would imagine you would be pretty hard pressed to fill a board with people or content surrounding the variaties of Jordan Air sneakers that have been offered in years past. I can just hear the thrilling conversations that would occur on a jordan air forumn:

"I hear THIS year's shoe is gonna be black and white and have gray shoe laces!! OH, and its an extremely limited edition size of of 1,000,000 pairs!!"
"WOAH...sick...Sign ME UP!"

My mom would totally make me "put them back in the closet where shoes belong." Then she would point out "no one wants to look at your SHOES when they come into the house".

On a similar note...anyone got this guy's address? I totally wanna surprise him with a puppy!

show's how little you know. there are forums for everything, and there are lots of sneaker forums with lots of members who chat about it and talk about upcoming releases etc.

And FYI, there are shoes that are limited to 50 or 100 in the world, and most of the collectible sneakers have much lower edition sizes than any of sideshow pieces. most of which you can only get at 3 locations in the USA and nowhere else in the world.

Just because you are on a statue/figure forum don't think that this is the mainstream norm of collecting. I don't get why some of you are so ignorant to put down other peoples' interest just because you like collecting statues of comic book characters and they like exclusive sneakers. I bet you think that these sneaker collectors go to foot locker and buy up any old pair of sneakers to call them collectibles....lol :lol

Eh, to each thier own. Still...If I wanted to look at shoes all day I would just stare at my feet. shoe fetishes seem like kinda a chick hobby to me.

I think my biggest issue with shoes is that...they all pretty much look exactly the same. Especially in such a specific area as Air Jordan sneakers.....

Well if that's the way you see it, i wont bother trying to explain.

But i'll leave it with this. most exclusive collectible shoes sell for as much or way more than your precious sideshow or bowen statues do. and Air Jordans are just a fraction of what's out there considering the whole NBA and Nike exclusives.

Sweet! So my collectibles are better AND cheaper for me to obtain! :rock:rock:rock

See what I did there?
