I remember watching a doc where they said they had to remove the seat cushion so that the Bat ears would not get cut off by the canopy.

I think they had a designated Batmobile cowl with shorter ears as well.

Did the machine guns move like that in the movie, I thought they just shot straight.

We never saw them move but they obviously could based on the line of bullet holes he used to open the door to the chemical plant.

I don't understand what you mean.

What else could it had been, it was always going to be a shield (what you describe as plate) that goes over the car.

No guessing involved, that's what it is.

Did you mean something else with "over the top plate"?

I'm glad those machine guns appear to pivot instead of being straight ahead and stationary.

Not too happy about that rod mechanism or the canopy though, even if it is "accurate". Hope it's removable.
