Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

It isn't missing the monitor, it's just not visible from that angle. I believe they put a decal of the blueprints on it.

EDIT: Yeah, What DiFab said.

It would be cool if the entire hood and dash were easily separated and popped back on (along the natural seam lines of the real car) so that it would be a little easier to seat figures inside, rather than just shoving them in through the cockpit opening.

A word from William, the person providing the pictures:

"The armour shields is cheap plastic cover I can say,"

Well that sucks.

"The armour shields is cheap plastic cover I can say, like use to cover the dust"

That does suck. I could have bought the $20 Toybiz Batmobile if I wanted a cheap plastic cover.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Damn looked promising can always find some one to make a xtra good mold of it would be easy if know how.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Sucks about the cover. But it really is just a non-essential extra. It'll serve it's purpose to protect the Batmobile (if not from bullets and explosions, definitely from that dastardly dust). No one who was on the fence bought this beast because of the shields. If it wasn't included at all, wouldn't you still buy it? Not really a deal breaker.

:exactly::lecture

I am somewhat relieved it is a cheapy cover so it can be relegated to a dust cover for the time being.

Yep wanted the shield to have and be not cheap but oh well still gets the armor look and 2 cars in 1 look so just superstoked this will be shipping very soon finaly for us . Counting the days until this grail arrives......

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Not happy about the news about the shield.
Paying that much,it should be a sturdier plastic.
Not something a clam shell for their figures is made of.
:gah:

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

This sucks. Those cheap plastic Toy Biz cocoon's tore so easily just from repeatedly handling. They were crap.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

This thread is on fire! Any pics of the brown outer shipper box? There IS a brown shipper box, right? Curious about how blatant the announcement of what's inside looks like.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Damn it looks good, I just po another one.....

It's not a deal breaker for me, but if you're going to include the shields, I think you should to it right.

Seems a little cheap to make it out of that vacuum molded, cheap-o trays. It looks on par with Toy Biz's and ERTL's.

I can't say that it pisses me off but it does blow. At $720 shipped or whatever I'm paying, it would have been nice if my glorified dust shield was made out of the same plastic that the Batmobile's body was made out of. It is hollow after all.

The way I look at it, the thing you are "paying that much" for is the Batmobile, the shield's could have been eliminated all together and the same exact price for the car would still be pretty reasonable based on it's massive size, features and accessories.

Shields are extra.

Yeah the ERTL model kit shield looks like it was made out of sturdier stuff than the Toybiz one. Is the Batpod 2.0 cape holder plastic exactly as flimsy as the Toybiz shields?

You're missing their point. The fact is it IS included so why half *** it? It's not a matter of oh it's just a extra so who cares, it's a feature they included so why not make it a more sturdy material rather than something that will likey break apart over some time? They could have made it the same hardness the Batmobile itself has. I get how you're viewing it because with it being confirmed as the shield being something cheap, the focus is on the Batmobile itself but since they decided to include it the expectation for it is something more than what it is.

This.
The moment they decided to include the shield, it stopped being an extra that we shouldn't complaint about.

Yeah, it's exactly like that.

It's like those black, plastic flower holders with the dirt at Walmart, Home Depot, etc. The disposable ones. They're really thin and crack easily.

I don't know. It's not a deal breaker but that is extremely lame to me. You stated that it was just bonus? Well, the specs included it and it did have the same, matte finish in the specs/pics. It was even listed as a "special feature", not a bonus.

It wouldn't have killed them to make a matte finished, hard plastic shell like a kid's sandbox or something. Nobody is saying a ceramic shell with a flocked, velvet interior, but something more durable would have been nice.

I'm not missing the point. I agree that they could have made it out of the same hard plastic as the plastic as the Batmobile. In fact, like a lot of people in this thread I would have PREFERRED that, and gladly would have paid more for it (or bought it separately if that was an option). But as I said, I expect a quality shield would have significantly increased the price (which I'd gladly pay) and I'm guessing this cheapo plastic didn't really increase it much. If you'd prefer they do it right or not do it at all, that's fine, be my guest and throw out the cheapo plastic when you get it, and you'll have your "not at all" option. For myself, if the only choice is the cheapo plastic, I won't like it but, I'll take it (and keep it).

Thanks for the info about the cape holder.

Regarding the Batmobile, by using the terms "bonus" or "extra" etc... I don't mean it's something that they didn't promise us in the specs which they clearly did...I mean it's "gravy" as in "not an essential" feature of the Batmobile. It's not as drastic as eliminating the fins or forgetting the hubcaps or dash interior. It's nice that they listed it in the specs and included it (although it sucks), but they didn't HAVE to to make it the Batmobile...it's gravy.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Glad they didn't cheap out on the interior as much as I thought they would.

Give no ****s about the shield.
