Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I never had interest in the shield, even in the movie it was one if not the most cheesy scene which I totally removed from my memory banks.
If I were HT I would have totally excluded it and it would have been for the better. Now collectors have something to get upset about but honestly, this "thing" should not reduce your excitement for finally getting a 1/6 '89 batmobile in your hands for less than half (third?) of what Toynami wanted for their smaller version.
should I throw out a poll to see how few ppl will be able to display both the Batmobil AND the shield side by side?? ;)
Oh thanks for the picture.. in it the shield does look shinier than the batmobil itself

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

And who is gonna display it with shield.....

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Regarding the Batmobile, by using the terms "bonus" or "extra" etc... I don't mean it's something that they didn't promise us in the specs which they clearly did...I mean it's "gravy" as in "not an essential" feature of the Batmobile. It's not as drastic as eliminating the fins or forgetting the hubcaps or dash interior. It's nice that they listed it in the specs and included it (although it sucks), but they didn't HAVE to to make it the Batmobile...it's gravy.

Yeah, that's all true.

Still, we don't know what costs what as far as mass production goes. Could not skimping out on the armor have made it more expensive? Who knows. They set the prices, all we can do is assume and speculate.

For $720 or whatever, a hard plastic shell wouldn't have hurt I don't think. It requires little to no paint. It's not a solid, heavy block and it's hardly detailed. Throwing in a cheap, trayish thing is sort of insulting for a high end collectible vehicle that's all about the detail. That's fine for a cape holder pack for your figure's Batpod (even though the original plastic one with the wires was far superior) but for an actual "ARMOR COCOON SPECIAL FEATURE FOR OUR LIMITED BATMOBILE"? It reeks of stinginess at these prices.

It'd be like if they gave the DX 09 a flimsy, cheap plastic Batarang accessory or made some articles of clothing on a character out of tailored paper (other than those ties). It's just sort of "wrong" at this stage if that makes sense. I can't really justify it other than $$$ and being cheap.

Still, glad they didn't cut back on the details with the interior. It looks great in there, especially with the lights. Those plastic blemishes on the fins sort of worry me though.

The final product has way more detailing in the seats, plus all of the additional switches and lights behind them. Nice! But like I said before, for seven-hundred-damn-dollars those ought to be heated leather seats - not some hard plastic seats you'd find in Barbie's $20 car.

I was a little taken back by the plastic seats as well. I thought they would have made it have some type of leather like material such as this replica:

Still have not received my shipping/charge notification. Hope it comes soon! I pre-ordered from Sideshow about 5 minutes after it went up. Are they just sending out notifications to those who didn't use FlexPay? My final payment is still showing as 7/20...

Flexpay doesn't get a notification. You pay your scheduled payments then they ship it.

What do you think guys, good job so far from Hot Toys? What you were expecting? Yes, it's a shame abt the shield...I was one of those who was really looking forward to the shield part...not the end of the world as ill probably custom paint mine

But seriously, how hard would it have been to add some LEDs to the exhaust like this...

Sure it's gravy but it IS an essential feature of the Batmobile. They could have left it out but then everybody would complain they didn't include it. But they did and it was advertised so why half-***? I mean if you're going to include it then do it right, don't use cheap vac-formed plastic that will crack and tear in 6 months. They could have used hard molded hollow plastic.

I wonder if someone will make a recast and offer up hard molded copies out there.

None of the rear lights light up?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Not gonna lie, I'm pissed off about the shield. I love that scene and the design of the shield. I've been working on a display for the 89 mobile with Bats in it, having the shield with Bats standing next to it, and having the second mobile with all Returns gimmicks with returns Bats standing or sitting.

With SS butt raping us with shipping (225 for two) the shield thing now burns :monkey4.

The tail lights do:

I'm fine with a light not being in the afterburner. It wasn't going to replicate flames anyway and a little yellow light might actually call greater attention to that. I prefer just pretending that the burner is off.

The shield was going to stay in the box whether it was made of plastic or titanium metal so I really couldn't care less about it.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

RobertoBagg, thanks for the additional photos. Not sure what he's trying to do here; of course he's not going to fit in the car when he's sitting on top of the center console between the seats; his left shoulder needs to tuck in under the left side of the car body.

Oh thanks. Yea I agree fully. I like the tail lights lighting up. The afterburner makes no difference to me either. Front lights look good and so do the cockpit so far as well.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Somebody with cajones ought to recast the back parts in metal, and make a real working exhaust with a flame and everything.:lecture

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I can't believe they went that route with the shield. Completely cheapens the entire thing. For $735 shipped this is ridiculous.

:lol

Kidding aside, for me it's real flame from the afterburners or nothing at all, so I'm fine with how HT made it. IMO lights on the exhaust would only make it look like a super-sized model for kids, especially if paired with sounds.

Wait. You're not kidding, are you? :monkey4

People have candles, yet they don't burn the house down. Why can't a Batmobile have a little burner?:lol

HOT TOYS HOW DARE YOU CHEAP OUT ON US!

At $700 this should have an afterburner that can be refilled with butane tanks!
