That's 2 purchased from AE that have already arrived damaged today...I'm sure Josh is not a happy camper right now. Mine is on the truck and will be here any minute so as soon as I open it up I'll report back in. Preparing for the worst. :(

i would be happy with a partial refund. this thing is too cool to just give up on. plus he already told me there will be no exchanges. he said SS told him that are no replacement units available.

Way to be prepared guys in charge...whoever you are....

One thing is certain, Sideshow and Hot Toys may be banking that customers aren't going to go through the hassles of returns and just accept some low-ball credit but all of the re-sellers like AE and BBTS who have to deal with returns, it's hurting their business and they are going to have more influence to put pressure on Sideshow and Hot Toys to do something about the consistent QC issues if customers keep sending stuff back.

For those returning it, are you going through the process of screwing it back down or just throw it in the box and call it a day. I'm hoping people just throw it in there, so there's a chance more damage can happen so SS can't resell them.

Great idea! :lecture

Sideshow will prolly just spray paint the body with black paint to cover all the scuffs and seal them back up with Hot Toys seal tape and resell them.

Also I know BBTS care about their customers and they are not going accept any BullS*** from SS or HT. I've been buying from BBTS for years and they always do the right thing.

You want to be the guinea pig and touch up your Batmobile with model paint or a sharpie and let us all know how it works? Be my guest.
I do not, nor would I expect anyone else here to do so. That's why I'm saying Sideshow should step up and find a material for retouching the white marks that blends well with the black finish of the car - since they'll have plenty of returns laying around to test it on.

You would think SS would get sick of dealing with HT QC issues, but then you think about all the ****ty product SS sends out themselves. It's a lose lose situation with these two companies.

And yet people still buy from them because they are pretty much the only game in town to get the big licensed stuff. No competition and they can do whatever they want and keep charging as much as they want.

but i wonder if we are the minority. i bet there are a lot of collectors who got this and just put it on the shelf and didnt really ***** or mind about the scuffs. plus, how many people got ones that were ok? if you look at the numbers, its probably within acceptable limits of HT and SS that 10% or so of people are complaining about this.

im sure they couldnt care less. quite sure. they dont even know we exist.

Almost half if you look at the poll.

I've seen lots of Youtube reviews on this item that have scuffs or some kind of damaged and 99% of them didn't care or complaining about the
scratch marks in their video. They all seem 100% happy with it.

but thats just the people here who bought one.

There are plenty collectors around the globe who arent members here, or, just arent as picky. I know, its crazy to think they are little more than urban legend, but they do exist. :lol

I would guess the large majority of people who got this are just fine with it. if it was rampant, wouldnt SS and HT be forced to acknowledge it? Corporations have Depts set up just for this type of thing. The PR dept would be issuing statements if this was haunting them. dont you think? i do. i dont know. they might be playing dead, but i suspect this isnt bothering anyone at HT or SS.

Yeah but the sample size is not "all collectors who ordered the Batmobile". It's just "all collectors who ordered the Batmobile AND are members of SSF...AND...who voted in the poll...(if everyone voted honestly)". Plus on top of that, there's at least one person who ordered multiple Batmobiles, 9 of 10 were damaged, but he mentioned that he can only vote ONCE in the poll....all of this adds up to...the poll is not an accurate representation at all of the percentage of total shipped Batmobiles that are damaged. It's just a tiny sliver of a very specific group, and it doesn't even accurately represent that group.

In terms of total Batmobiles sold, the percentage of ones with damage may be much higher or much lower than our informal and unscientific poll indicates.

EDIT: Yeah, what Megacolor and Black Label Society said. :)

From what I've seen, only the ones shipped to North America have this issue. We didn't see any scratched and scuffed units the first week when all of the photos and videos were coming out of Asia. So I do believe it has something to do with how they were all stacked in the crate(s) together on their way to Sideshow, and for that reason it's not going to be a "global" issue.

Most cost-effective thing Sideshow can do for themselves is offer those who complain a $70 credit. That's less than it would cost them for return shipping, and they're not stuck with a damaged unit they need to try and resell. Has Sideshow ever gone out of their way to procure non-defective product to replace defective ones? I imagine if Sideshow called Hot Toys and said, "40% of these Batmobiles are scratched, you need to build and send us another batch," Hot Toys response would be, "they were fine when they left here on the boat, not our problem". That of course doesn't mean they shouldn't try. 40% is a lot of freakin' defective product.

What pisses me off is that Sideshow was and remains completely unwilling to open and inspect for damage prior to shipping them out; they just want to get the thing to you in hopes that you'll keep it.

After the Samurai Predator debacle, Sideshows official statement will be " hot toys wanted to create varying degrees of battle damge and the scratches and scuffs were intentional. "

Dont believe, go over the samurai thread. Their statement was a slap to the face.

Mine just shipped from APCollectibles but the stuff ordered through them comes from direct from sideshow.

I had requested that they check the batmobile before shipping but they told me sideshow was checking remaining batmobiles before shipping due to this now known problem

So I hope mine arrives safe and sound

I don't know about that Predator but that excuse won't fly on a $700+ vehicle that's not supposed to have any battle damage. This isn't the Attack on Axis Chemicals Batmobile...

Besides, if you purchased a new car and it had scuffs would you accept it? Most car dealerships I've seen make sure cars are mint before handing over the keys.
